I don't know what to do, I took the EB but I don't really understand what's the purpose.

Riccardo... I have been posting comments non stop over there to help out some of the backers. The intent of that pledge is to give you a free deck. If you choose that level and let's say you wanted a brick this is what you have to do
You select that pledge level and instead of the $13 you change it to $156. But because there is a $5 shipping embedded fee on that level, you should put $151 combine with that $5 shipping will add up to $156 and free shipping ( since a brick gets you free shipping) That way you get your brick and a free deck
PM with the details of what you want and I can't help you some more

Re: Mint 2 by 52Kards live on Kickstarter
I think I get it: since I want 2+2+2 decks I need to add the price of 4 decks, because 1 is included and 1 is free. Also, I'm an international backer so I don't need to add anything since the fee is $10 anyway.

Re: Mint 2 by 52Kards live on Kickstarter
Not quite Riccardo
2 Frost is $39
2 Cucumber is $26
1 Blueberry is $13 and the other one will be free
Total pledge should be $38 +$26 +$13 = $$77 plus the $10 shipping your pledge would come to $87. I am not sure if the free deck forces you to upgrade your shipping to $20
EDIT: I guess that free deck would indeed push you to increase your shipping by another $10 thus basically negating your free deck

I'm at a loss. Why is this so well-funded? Don't get me wrong, it's a fine deck and the marking system is good but... why this hysteria?

I asked basically the same question. Here is how Azid responded:
The price isn't that bad either, especially when you add in the first day extra deck bonus thrown into the pot.
From what I understand as well, the earlier version has sold for quite a lot more than the issued price, and it sold very well the first time. So, happy previous customers and new ones hoping this campaign does as well as the past one.Bradius wrote: Okay, I am new to this show. I get that the cards are marked, but what is the huge deal here?
Asad (Creator) has a big fellowship on youtube, 948k followers so i'm not surprised.

Re: Mint 2 by 52Kards live on Kickstarter
Unless there's anyone on the forum that wants these and doesn't/can't use kickstarter to get them I might lower my pledge.
I don't need 12 of each if there will be no one that needs/wants them aftermarket. With over $230K in project funding I'd be pretty surprised if Asad doesn't do a large enough print run to keep them available for a good while on his website. Yeah, he's doing three decks and then there's the 12%(?) KS fee, and I know creators need cashflow to feed themselves, but all said that leaves like $140K for printing decks (that's 12% KS fee, and 30% "consideration" for the creator).
My personal thoughts on why these are so popular: 52Kards' youtube channel, as has been mentioned. Also, didn't Chris Ramsay plug the launch decks in one of his videos, too? Which I think has generated some kind of fontaine-esque fear of missing out around these. Great marketing either way.
Aside from that, I really like the way these look, they're a really simple, attractive design and different enough from other decks to be distinct. They handle well, too. I have a couple of the launch edition (not the limited one, the red one) and they feel similar to the Bicycle Elite Edition that Penguin magic did a while back. I like the springiness of the thinner crushed stock. I also like that they changed the back a little this time around, I am understanding it's still one-way but it's way more difficult to notice than the launch version, which ultimately makes it looks cleaner and classier.
Who knows, this could still end up in shortages at retail after launch, just because the demand is so big judging from the campaign.

For $140k you can print 70-80k decks with foil on boxes etc. So $250k is ...just 120,000 decks.ICantShuffle wrote:U but all said that leaves like $140K for printing decks (that's 12% KS fee, and 30% "consideration" for the creator).
Backed EB as I need just two decks. $23 is a good price for two shipped, cannot resist

Re: Mint 2 by 52Kards live on Kickstarter
Is that through USPCC? 80,000 decks for $140,000.00? I would think that with the three decks, though, you would need to pay costs for each different print run which would also increase the costs. Also, the LE would be a smaller print run, and more technical printing (borderless) so your unit cost is much higher for those decks.
Something like this: LE: 4,000 decks, SE: Green 20,000 and SE: Blue 20,000.

it does not matter where to print. If you print more than 5k decks prices are good regardless. You can only save cents printing 10k vs 20kICantShuffle wrote:Something like this: LE: 4,000 decks, SE: Green 20,000 and SE: Blue 20,000.

Re: Mint 2 by 52Kards live on Kickstarter
If you're looking to speculate on these decks by ordering a lot more than you need in order to sell them at huge profits later on, don't bother. My suspicion is that Asad is printing significantly more decks than needed for his KS fulfillment based on the amount of money he's raising. They'll be plenty available well after his campaign ends. Remember, only the Frost Mint deck is limited, but given that anyone can order up to a brick means literally thousands of the "limited" Frost Mint decks will be in circulation as well. If he raises between $300K-$400K+, he'll easily be able to print in bulk to get even further price breaks from the USPCC for his unlimited Blueberry and Cucumber decks, even with blinged out tuck boxes. I wouldn't even be surprised to see these decks at an outfit like Touch of Modern at some point in the future.
It's tough to say why some decks go viral and other's don't. At least these Mint decks have some merit, unlike a deck like the Fontaines. It's a clean and classic design, especially the full bleed "limited" version, and printed by the USPCC. The first Mint decks had understated and elegant tucks, and I expect the same, if not better, for these. Normally I'd be in for at least a couple of bricks for a well designed deck that appeals to me like this one does, but the same thing that held me back the first time will hold me back to just a few of each version this time as well: these are marked decks. It's such a shame. I get that his target demographic the first time around was primarily magicians, but since this deck is enjoying such mass appeal, I wish he would provide an unmarked version - I would be all over than one. But as is, these aren't fit for serious poker games. . .

Thanks Pipchick. There were a few others also that really helped like that Ben guy. What is ironic is that Asad will go manuall through all the pledges from day 1 and will give a free deck to even those that did not pledge on that special pledge level.. In the end why do that in the first place He really made it hard for himselfPipChick wrote:just wanna take a sec to give badpete69 a shoutout for all the help in the comments section - you really cleared up a lot of confusion with the add-ons and shipping and for that, we thank you! I almost sold all my sets from the first series and made a killing and that's months after everything was released I think I only kept 2 sets of my 2 bricks.. Anyway this campaign is just insane

With this amount of money raised he could have some dope decks produced, I'm imagining silver metaluxe printing for the limited deck. Probably wont happen but a man can dream.
Hopefully he had some "stretch goals" planned that can spice up the deck though.

Re: Mint 2 by 52Kards live on Kickstarter
$19 is not cheap, I also do not see any good designs that can match with this price... To me it is just another fan based deck like Fontaine or Anyone worldwide. Especially the price is also similar. But, the good thing is that he provides two cheaper editions, but they are pretty much color change decks from his mint 1 as well. The marking system is changed, but majority is the same. Don't know why, but I am still in for half a brick per edition, lol.

Re: Mint 2 by 52Kards live on Kickstarter
It's HIGHLY unlikely that he will put $140k into printing decks. He will likely print what he needs plus about 50% additional stock. Which will still net him about $100k profit. That money will go towards keeping himself afloat through future projects I would imagine and continued building of his brand. He will likely invest in other decks designs to (a) capitalize on buyers of his previous decks after all no need to buy more decks if you own them all already and (b) appeal to a more broad audience as mentioned above. i.e. unmarked decks, decks for cardists, etc. This is speculation on my part, but as a business decision it makes much more sense than flooding the market with a deck (and therby reducing its value) that is already owned by the hardcore majority of his fan base.

Quick update: stretch goal: $300,000 = custom brick boxes. Also word on an ultra limited deck. Question is, with over 4000 backers, if everyone gets one, will it still be ultra limited or just limited?

I agree everyone should have an opportunity to get one. Whatever will be, will be. It would be tough to limit those that can get it without folks being upset. I guess you could make the offer for a limited time to reduce the population some. I look forward to learning more about this new limited deck. Oh, congrats on a hugely successful campaign so far.

Re: Mint 2 by 52Kards live on Kickstarter
Actually, the more you think about it, requiring a minimum purchase makes much more sense. If any backer can add an ultra limited deck, anyone could simply ask their friends to order a few more for them. If a min number were required in order to add on the ultra limited deck, one would need to be a supporter at a high level to be able to get the ultra limited deck.Bradius wrote:Yes, there have been some campaigns where they did that as well.
