I'm still twiddling my thumbs here waiting for my KS pledges. In the meantime, two more decks showed up today!:

I'm familiar with the Borden's/Elsie deck (I have at least one), but do not recognize the second deck. What is it, please?

Oooh, I love the courts on the second deck, especially the clubs. Where's that one from?

Re: The "Hey, look what I added to my collection!" thread
Very nice! I haven't gotten my Dragon Dynasty decks because he says there is a delay with the dice production.
I found an older Hallmark Pinochle deck with courts I haven't seen before. Does anyone know if these were used on any poker decks?
Besides the metallic ink on the backs, they have have nice red edges. They don't appear to be gilded though. More like... inked?

Re: The "Hey, look what I added to my collection!" thread
Nice find Dragonsoul!
I have a vintage Hallmark dbl deck set that has a different colour of edge on each deck: blue on one and purple on the other, to match the backs. That's something I would like to see come back on card edges. My set has custom courts too but they are diff from yours, having very round bodies, and the pips are not the same either.
My decks were much used, and the colour is only really strong on the unused jokers, so it's no more durable than the gilding is. The EC/ad card says the following: "Hallmark has a completet line of matching party accessories for all occasions", so perhaps the coloured edges were just meant to be more festive.

This new deck is brought to you by our wonderful sponsors, USPCC and Smithkline Beecham. It's a handy, pocket reference deck so y'all can know how to care for your livestock. God knows takin care of ol' Bessie can be quite a handful! Hoo-wee! And the bottles even come color coded because who has time to read labels when Anabelle has worms!?

Dang, Eoghann! You are finding some unique decks out there. Since I look for custom courts as well, I'd love to know a few of your secrets!

Re: The "Hey, look what I added to my collection!" thread
Here are two pig-in-a-poke eBay arrivals from yesterday:
I picked this up after Eoghann (was it him?) posted images of the TWA Nu-Vue deck with the retro courts, only to discover that NOT ALL "NU-VUE" DECKS HAVE RETRO COURTS.
It does have the Nu-Vue Slightly-greenish tint, although it doesn't show up well in the scans.
I picked up this 1950's deck in hopes that it would have custom courts - no such luck.

Re: The "Hey, look what I added to my collection!" thread
sorry Robert. Gotta be careful with that one. Even with the TWA ones there's a 50/50 chance if they're sealed.
It's not their fault, but I get annoyed with eBay sellers who show every card in a deck EXCEPT the courts. I usually have to contact them asking for pics, wondering if they're custom or standard. The funniest one was the guy who replied "what do you mean "custom"? Is that some collector gibberish? They're regular cards like from the grocery store."
They don't do it on purpose. It's just one of those things they don't think people will wonder about.

Re: The "Hey, look what I added to my collection!" thread
Got my SWTWC # something or other prize decks for guessing partially right regarding the 2015 UC deck in. Only opened one of the No 17 decks so far, card stock quality is sub par compared to even the aviator decks one can get from the local grocer (ok, so maybe not that bad, they get better with some breaking in.). Lorenzo's art on the other hand... Daaaaaaaaaaaamn. You sir are one talented designer. If anyone that has one of the uncuts is interested in a trade, please let me know.

Re: The "Hey, look what I added to my collection!" thread
New additions to my collection this month (except that I forgot to take photos of the Clipped Wings deck & uncut + Curator uncut). As I've mentioned in another thread, the package from HOPC was missing 3 unbranded Ornate decks. The package from Kings Wild came with mismatched numbers for one of my limited edition sets - I received number 928 for The Crown & 929 for Continental.

Re: The "Hey, look what I added to my collection!" thread
Damn. The deck those four cool aces belong to was gonna be my mystery deck for this week.
Ok here's a few more, since Firth stole my thunder.
- A goofy deck so you can play golf indoors or something.
- And a 1986 King Arthur deck by Grimaud.

Ooh sorry man! I didn't show the tuckcase or the other cards so please go ahead and post those up if you want to; I won't reveal what deck it is (although I know it made the rounds on UC about two years ago).Eoghann wrote:Damn. Re: The "Hey, look what I added to my collection!" thread
I've been thinking it over. And decided to change the "mystery deck" experiment rules a bit.
So what I'll do is post a pic, anyone interested in getting a head start knows what to do, and after a week or two I'll announce it publicly. That way, the community members get dibs, then everyone who prefers to lurk around and anyone from other places can know where to get them. There have to be additional perks to being a member than just enjoying my amazing company, amirite?
*crickets*
Ok then!
So here are the two from past weeks:
Coat of Arms Deck
And Mayhem Festival Deck
