@Kookie - Welcome to the forums. I think you just won a reward. Some ppl get annoyed if you go off subject, but I don't mind. I like free speech....

I'll be afraid to shuffle the deck. Can't wait to pick up mines in the morning.

It was a bumper day for me...
Aesir decks, Grotesque, Tattoo gold, and these beauties.

The red signing label against the matte black screams class... Not sure if it something I should own.

Kookie,

Many of us buy extras to resell them to help fund our collections. That is very common. And, I know I have bought decks with the sole purpose of reselling them without even keeping one. They might just not appeal to me but if I know I can make a few bucks I'll go ahead and buy them anyway. Unfortunately that doesn't always work out as my crystal ball sometimes fails me on which decks will appreciate. With a deck this rare though, it is a pretty safe bet. I think your starting bid is reasonable - I think I would have started it at $300 just to test the waters. I'm sure others will follow quickly.

Got my deck, really nice. Next time we need these decks printed on some decent stock to "really" stand out.

Um... Isn't there supposed to be a seal with the deck where we had a choice whether to use it to seal the deck or not?

Yeah you didn't get yours? It's freaking nice to say the least. Kind of a black velvety sticker with gold foil V like the original Venexiana deck seals, only about a million times nicer.

Just kidding, no seal other than the signature band which I believe replaced it.

Norbie, The stock is from the same manufacturer that EPCC get their stock as well. The main reason you have this feeling is that there is no linen finish on it. I was not sure if this finish would allow the gold foil AND gold ink to shine as they do now, that's why I didn't use it. I continue experimenting however and if I see that linen finish does not affect shine, I'll use it in future decks. Also, don't forget that one cannot do hot stamped foiling on any paper. If you do that on USPCC stock, the stamping will destroy the card. The paper has to be very stiff and unfortunately slightly thicker than what you are used to.

I had 3 games of solitaire with this deck and out of the 3 games I only won 1.

Disappointing deck.

Well it does help to shuffle them first before playing a game. ;) funny thing is, a few times I have played a few hands of solitaire with a new deck and depending on how many I won / lost made me think of it as an (un)lucky deck.

Wanted to do so with this deck but couldn't bring myself to shuffling it.

I've been practising a bit of card-throwing with my Venexiana Gold. Personally I think they work better than the Banshees. All that gold foil makes it look spectacular as it flies through the air. Not as much penetration though.

Anyone know a good way to protect and store these? I've been using basebal card acrylic cases for my rarities but these are a hair too big. Lucite is just too bulky.

I have been using those Dale Mathis cases that came with my deck since out of the 4 I had 2 on display. So I had 2 free cases. Plus those cases are black and red so it is a very nice match. Not sure if this is going to be my permanent solution but it works for now

I plan on making a new deck display case kinda like one that I've seen pics of recently. The case lays horizontally, theirs is 3 rows of 4 decks held at a slight angle and a glass cover that swings open. The design is rather cool but plan on making some changes.

Either that or I'll put together one of those lucite cases that a member here showed that also displayed some of the cards. I hope to pick up some singles when Mike & Lotrek sell them to put on display with the deck, show off that beautiful artwork.

I kind of go with the baseball card ones because they're crystal clear, so they double as displays while they protect. Image

But I'll definitely be checking those out. The baseball ones fit the deck EXACTLY because it doesn't account for the tuck. I assume the others do and allow a little wiggle room. Thanks a lot!

I posed this question to the forum about 6 months about and got two answers- the baseball card cases and the plastic ones that JP Playing cards offers. I ordered both. The clear baseball card cases were tight as a tick and I was afraid they were going to be such a bitch getting the deck in and out of at some point I'd damage a deck. Since I only use these for expensive fare that was not an option.

The JP Playing card cases worked much better. They'll expand with the depth of the deck and have plenty of elbow room around the perimeter. I also noticed UUSI uses these and I consider them savvy folks. Here is the link:

You're right about the snug fit. I never force the decks in there. I only put decks that actually fit. To get them out I sorta shake them like a ketchup bottle. Figured it was a small price to pay for visibility.

Two reviews in favor of those cases. Works for me!

Baseball cases definitely have the better view- clear styrene versus the translucency of the JPs. ETA- and they are less expensive.
