Re: Bicycle Golden Spike by Jody Eklund -- Now live
BUMP
I have just picked up a couple of the Bicycle Golden Spike 2014. (The standard B+W tuck and backs)
I was aware that the limited Black Ink edition existed (along with the Gold) and although I have seen the Gold and could even now still pick one up, apart from seeing pics of the black tuck, I have no idea what the Black Ink edition looks like.
I have now read the 9 pages of this thread but still have no idea of what the Black Ink edition cards look like - even what color they are!
Does anybody have any info? Pics of the Black Ink edition cards would be sensational!

Unfortunately that is a deck I do not have open so I cannot help with the cards. BUT Jody frequents here sometimes, maybe he can drop a line? (Some more slang for you lol)Honeybee wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 6:55 am BUMP

Thanks G, the question is whether Cartesmagie can be relied upon - some of their 7 images are the standard deck so are those images the Black Ink or just the Golden (which are identical to that). I would not be surprised if the Golden and Black Ink are the same but according to the later pages of this thread - they must be different in some way (not just the tucks)
Reading his review, I know Enders has the Black Ink edition - come in Enders

No, that is not slang Vasta but rather a fantastic pun (Railway line - do you say 'line' or 'track' or both in the US)vasta41 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 8:17 amUnfortunately that is a deck I do not have open so I cannot help with the cards. We usually refer to the "track" as the physical thing. If I was going to take the train in Boston (oldest subway system in the US BYW!), I'd say, "I'm going to take the red line," or, "I'm going to hop on the orange line."Honeybee wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 7:24 pmNo, that is not slang Vasta but rather a fantastic pun (Railway line - do you say 'line' or 'track' or both in the US)vasta41 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 8:17 amUnfortunately that is a deck I do not have open so I cannot help with the cards. My wife had a job once working with immigrants learning English and she said they unanimously found it bizarre that we say I'm going to ride IN the car but ON a train or bus. They thought it made no sense and confused them.

You can get a better look of the Black Ink version on the Kickstarter update page here.Honeybee wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 6:55 am BUMP

Basically a new tuckbox and borderless back. Really nice back.

And were probably too young to appreciate it?
I thought you would appreciate the clarity of that 150yo photograph hsbc
Of late I have been reading books about Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp so the Golden Spike is relevant

Re: Bicycle Golden Spike by Jody Eklund -- Now live
Before letting this thread slumber once again I would like to say how highly I rate this deck
It receives a big tick in all areas - Tuck, Backs, Courts, Aces, Jokers, stock
I have to say that the KS pics, like the ones you see a few posts earlier, do not do the cards justice - maybe because the campaign was 10yrs ago?
Even these phone pics of the same cards are a better representation of his cross hatch technique of illustration
If you do not have this deck and get a chance to pick one up, I do not think you will be disappointed
