The v2 Club Tattoos in fact DO exist in walmart. $3.47 per.

The faces are the same as the v1 but a different back to match the tuck and the fans look REAL nice.

So I assume the black/silver and pink decks are new? Days ago while looking over my decks I have a deck that looks just like the black and silver deck and the king courts look exactly like the one in your avi (the deck has repeating courts). So are those two decks standard decks (red and black pips) with those colored backs?

Hello Mister Birch, it's good to see you here! Welcome to the forum :)

I bought 2 decks from you back in 2011. Very surprised to see the edition numbers are still so low - with the quality and humour of the deck I thought it would have sold out long ago. I remember posting your deck on the previous UC site and being disappointed there wasn't more response to it at the time. Good to see it's finally getting some deserved attention.

Are you going to post the new deck to the "Custom Deck Drafting Board" here on UC, or is it already beyond that stage? I look forward to seeing what you've come up with this time. :geek:

You're in Texas but find the Fench labeled tuck boxes? Color me green, always liked the way it adds a bit of "Je ne sais quoi" so to say.

Got my MANA Zinfandel & Indigo decks in today. Absolutely beautiful cards with a very subtle marking system. I really wish that they weren't marked so that they could be used in poker games, but regardless, very nice cards. Just won't be getting any more because I'm not a performer and don't feel like cheating at the table and pulling a Madison.

I picked up 3 of each of the V2s a few weeks ago. I grabbed 2 each of the top two decks yesterday at Wally-World. I couldn't believe my luck on the V2s, there are a few on Ebay going for $15 and $20 a pair.

The Bicycle branded Split Spades are just that: Prototype decks made for David that were only done in quantity 288 (mostly) and not intended for retail sale. Quite a few of them have crept into the market, of course - they just made too many of them for him to keep them all. I'm not certain, but I was told that USPCC made them to show that they could do just as well as anyone else, but David didn't think they were good enough and took his business elsewhere.

Hello Strag!

I had them printed at:http://www.playingcardsindia.com/
I'll be printing my second deck with youplayingcards.com as they can print on plastic instead of plastic coated which I prefer to play with. Better quality and better designs, coming towards the end of the summer! Here's the update on the new backs as well as the explanation as to what the 5th suit will be. (note, that it's The Birch's Playing Card Co. and not Beer Co. as the original set was actually trying to sell my beer tables as well as my future beer. I was doing a lot of home brewing and just getting into playing poker. I doubt I will actually ever have my own brewery as I have found there are tons of very skilled brewers. I would love to design or redesign a beer brand at some point. Anyways, there's some back story on the name change.)

I would also like to say I am not the first person to come up with a 5 suited deck. Stardeck is the premier 5 suit deck and I really think it's a great idea. Did you know if you are playing Hold Em' with 5 suits that a flush beats a Full House? Giddy up!

Best,
Daniel Birch

Those do look awesome, Jay! CFA did the UC2014 / Grotesque coins as well. I don't have mine yet even though I paid for them all. Lake Michigan Mailers is waiting for the decks - which have been printed, but the tucks are due next week, shipment from USPCC we're now told is on the 2nd because the factory is closed next week for their semi-annual cleaning and preventative maintenance.

Let's see - what's new? The deck of the month from D&D is Draplin - not in HOW fancy box, Eric's Zinfandel & Indigo arrived, seen plenty, I just shot one: http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/20/a7ajynuz.jpg

Found one of the Atlanta Olympic sets in presentation case: http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/20/a3y5avu3.jpg and I already showed part of the '54 TAOTL above that I found in Britain...

Today I got - among other decks - a yellow Verve deck that was either cut poorly or printed poorly. White borders are a little uneven and off-angle. Sending them back.

EDIT: Heard back from the dealer. They'll accept the return, but want to charge a 20% restocking fee. I politely, but firmly explained that was unacceptable for a) a poorly made deck, and b) someone wanting to exchange, not simply return for a refund. We'll see how they reply.

"Dawn of the Dead" (1978) is one of my all-time favorite movies. In high school and college, it seems I went to see it as a midnight move over 30 times!

Browsing today, I found this deck and snapped it up immediately. I now have the movie, the 'novelization' of the movie (poorly written by most standards, but it is a bit of a collector's item for aficionados), and now this deck.

I'll only post 1 picture. There are other pictures of individual cards, but many are gross, so some might prefer not to see them (for those who would like to, they're easy to find on an Google image search).

I have *no*

Cool addition to my deck collection, and my DOTD collection!

I received an email an email last Wednesday from James Randi, the famous (now retired) magician and escape artist, who is my dear friend and (skeptical) mentor.

The email simply said:
James Randi wrote: Robert, I just sent you a deck for your collection... I think it's rather unique, in many ways...
A small package from Randi arrived in today's mail. Inside was:
==========[ Bee_Coterie_Gold ]==========
http://i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u570/RSLancastr/Bee_Coterie_Gold_zpse6494c26.jpg
(Note that I have left it sealed and so could show nothing but the box in the "grid").

Okay, I've seen a few posts here on UC where people are lusting after this deck.

Could someone please explain to me just what is so special about it?

Thanks in advance,

-RSL

ROBERT!!! I hadn't seen you post in a while, I was beginning to wonder :) As far as the deck, it's just a Bee deck. If it has a gold seal on the tuck, those were made specifically for members. If I remember, I read something that not very many were actually ordered by members, so they were released into the wild.

That said, I prefer the Imperial Bee deck better...

Got these over the past week, most just today. I'm glad to finally have the actual Joker deck and broke my pattern of buying a single deck to have a 2nd to use for card games. The Ace set I heard is similar to the Banshees style so I plan to use those to try throwing before I buy the proper Banshee set. The Currents and Mythology I was on the fence about for a long time, but Justin had them for sale I figured good of a time as any. Didn't really pay attention to Heraldry before, but the roman numerals are actually what sold me on that. The other 2 standard bike decks were just filler I suppose when I ordered the Joker decks. Already discussed Pocono in that thread.

Well, I've been a little busy. I have gotten a few packages over the past week, so let's see what's in the bag:

For Jace - a couple of pre-1880 British decks, one from "Reynolds & Sons" and one from "de la Rue and Co", and I'm not even sure about the dates for Reynolds, maybe you can tell me, Jace? These are both in basically mint condition, except no nox - and maybe never had one? Decks were typically just wrapped during the 1860's and before, and in some cases much later.

Mike:

Since rounded corners were not common until around the mid-1880s, I would tend to doubt that the decks in the images you just posted are "pre-1880".

Got this one in yesterday's mail:

==========[ McDonaldsCocaCola_SnowboardingPolarBear ]==========
http://i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u570/RSLancastr/McDonaldsCocaCola_SnowboardingPolarBear_zpsb091a900.jpg
Evidently jointly produced by the folks at McDonald's and Coca Cola (and, I'm guessing, given out at McDonald's restaurants), this deck sports various Coke icons for all pips (except for those in the indices, which are standard):

Hearts - Cans of Coca Cola
Clubs - Coca Cola bottle caps
Diamonds - glasses of Coca Cola, in the distinctive Coca Cola shape
Spades - bottles of Coca Cola

The courts use these custom pips in an unusual way, with:

Jacks - one large custom pip and one small one
Queens - one large custom pip and two small ones
Kings - one large custom pip and three small ones

(I think that the large custom pips are meant to represent ten of the small ones, making the courts the Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen of their suits).

Definitely custom courts, but not of a type that would normally interest me.

The eBay listing showed only the tuck box (none of the cards), and I purchased it in hopes that the deck would have the Afrocentric courts I had seen on another McDonald's/Coca Cola deck on eBay a month or two ago. No such luck, but a fairly custom deck just the same.

Finally had some time to snap a pic of the latest stuff I've had come in during these past weeks. Most you're familiar with, some souvenir decks from places I've visited recently some sample cards PMK sent me of his Fotografis deck, and a pretty cool, all black deck the missus got me. Kinda hard to get a good picture of them but it's a nice design.

Hi Mike a couple of nice Bezique decks .
The Reynolds factory began manufacturing cards in 1809 and was sold to Goodalls and Son in 1885.
The Officially printed "Old Frizzle" Ace of Spades ,bearing the One Shilling Duty stamp was abolished in 1862 when duty on cards was reduced to three pence and charged on officially printed wrappers
The Ace shown looks similar but has "Manufactured by" instead of the duty stamp and also has extra leaves on the wreath. So this dated the pack between 1862 and 1885.
More likely 1880-1885 as Robert points out Rounded corners were not commonly used until the early -mid 1880`s
The De La Rue Ace was the standard ace used between 1862 to 1921.

Eoghann the Folio society deck is a Nice find. :D
