Truth. Money well spent. Question is, to buy more than one or not so you have one to play with.

I consider it a bargain myself, thought they would come in at the $100 mark. I'm absolutely thrilled I'll be able to have a chance to participate in the KS to get one of these beauties. My target isn't just one though. ;)
TL;DR summary: You're new around here.

We went back and forth on this. To do a true luxury deck with all the bells and whistles (and you haven't heard half of it, yet!) under $100 was the challenge, and Lotrek already did Venexiana Gold ultra limited edition of 200 decks for sale. Those were the first of the "World's First" accomplishments that will happen as the ICONS series develops, and V Gold was a test case to insure that the things we both had in mind can be done, even though industry insiders from both Expert/Legends and USPCC stated that "foil on card backs can't be done" less than a year ago. Those were $100 per deck, and we managed to work out a special 10% off deal for UC forum members, and sold the first 98 of 200 units here over a single weekend, and the rest went in 17 minutes on KS at the full $100 per deck - either way - limit two decks.

ICONS will be less expensive, but will have even more (and ongoing even more) features and "things that can't be done" like two foils on the card backs themselves, and ultra-plush velvet-touch hot gold foil stamped tucks for the Imperial editions. There will be two more versions - "Secular" and "Sacred", so there will be three different price-points, each with it's own specifications and characteristics. These ("ICONS Byzantine Imperial edition") are going to be done first and separately, although in the future they may remain separate and they may be released at the same time (all three editions). I'm not Lotrek, I can't read his mind, I can only give you insights into the knowledge that he's given me, and I'm quite certain that he's still got a few tricks up his sleeve - he always does!

Is ICONS Byzantine Imperial edition a deck for everyone? Surely not! By definition it's designed to be an outrageous advancement in what can be done using a combination of new technologies and old world craftsmanship in what is a new standard of luxury for playing card decks. I didn't start this thread out with a "Most Luxurious Deck Ever Made - for members only" topic or in my mind even think along the lines of getting under $100. Were you around when he described just how much work went into the process of doing Venexiana Gold decks (twice)? I can assure you, if it were up to me I would have stayed up at the $100 mark. Since he's including shipping / delivery worldwide, it's more-or-less $75 or $70 depending on where it's going shipping-wise he is giving everyone a 20-25% discount over what Venexiana Gold pricing in my mind. This isn't going to be "Q1", it's going to be a hands-on, pull out all the stops - luxury deck - and we'll move forward and onward from there.

So are 'secular' and 'sacred' going to be luxury decks as well?

He will have to answer that - when he's ready. At least one will be more available, the other could go either way, I guess. The third version could have 3D geospatial auto-adjustment, but I would prefer a hand crafted one-of-a-kind deck, but he has to make them... You didn't get the memo?

Let's get these done or at least funded, and then we can speculate what is "next" in the list.

These will be "normal" editions, printed by EPCC. That's the plan for now, although I have some ideas I'm working on. "Sacred" will be limited, while "Secular" will be unlimited but the KS edition will have some differences from any reprint. Not so striking to justify buying the reprint but enough for the KS backers to feel that their versions are unique. Probably the reprint will have a plain tuck. Just a thought.

This. And jokers, always a fan of the jokers. Especially one in the Venexiana Dark deck in particular for some odd reason. ;)

Will UC members get first crack at these like the Venexiana Golds or will everyone fend for themselves on KS? :)

There will be one early bird deck, for the discounted price of $83, and BadPete is going to get it, so don't bother.

With 6 hours to go, I can reveal that a little birdy told me there will probably be a few Early Birds available for $75-$80. Keep it to yourselves, I am thinking about ten or maybe a dozen. (and no, there is no preview link)
