Yes. But in that case, it was 2 different decks. And it was awesome. I don't really like that idea of a diptych with 2 identical decks. I normally display only one deck and keep the others (backup or playing) elsewhere. I'm not sure for now what I will do with that new diptych-with-two-identical-decks thing.

Cbkimble wrote:These kinds of projects are why the USPCC stays backed up, IMO.
Using this particular project as an example of why USPCC stays backed up is not really the greatest example because out of the three-deck lineup, only one of them will be manufactured by USPCC. The Golden and Black Ink Edition are being produced by the Legends Playing Card Company, so including them in the campaign would have no effect on the USPCC timeline whatsoever.

I can see how perspectives are changing, though. Seems like more and more people are getting wary of campaigns with multiple decks. Only a few months ago, a campaign with six decks (a third of which were tuck swaps), didn't bother anyone, but now tuck swaps aren't received as well and even adding in a different deck is criticized. Nothing wrong with that, it's just interesting how things change. :)

Though I have to consider I'm just basing this off of UC posts, and I'm well aware there is a larger community that may have differing opinions (the multiple tuck swaps on the Vikings deck didn't really hurt the campaign).

OK, third time asking this - will the face of the cards in the 'black ink' edition have a white or black background??? I assumed black, but since no images were ever shown I'm not sure what to make of the "faces will be the same" wording.
The ink on the back of the cards will bleed to the edges of the back to make a beautiful fan. The Faces will be the same as the Gold Deck minus the metallic ink. Once we reach hit $38,000 I will have the printer put metallic ink on the face of the cards.

When he says they're the same as the Gold deck, I'm assuming that means it'll have white faces. Though I can see how people think it should be black... it probably fits better to have a black blackground, so it'll match he back.

i thought it meant white faces, as the gold deck have white, and they meant to be same.

I figured something like this would happen, not happy with the situation. On one hand, keep it at 1000 decks and tick off the newcomers AND there's a chance that people who already upped their pledge before the project hit 40k may not even get the decks. So what happens to their money they pledged for the black ink version? They won't be able to get a refund after project ends if the black ink ends up selling out before they do their backerkit.

And on the other hand, can print 500 more decks, but what's to say that will be enough and we're back to step 1. And that's not even touching the issue about the whole "limited edition" aspect when limited is all of a sudden not as limited at the stroke of a pen.

SNAFU. Ya know, for some reason I feel like we've gone through this situation before...

I honestly believe that jody didnt want those who up-ed their pledge to miss out and end up with extra funds pledged. It also gives him some breathing room, and to keep more than a handful of decks for himself.

A couple of things to consider, 1500 decks total is still pretty limited. You didnt pay extra premium prices for these LE decks *cough* $40 *cough*. He has been completely honest about the situation, and isnt printing over what he claims *cough* A certain black deck *cough*

Not sure why my throat is acting up, perhaps its because too much money is made through lying to the backers.

I was a bit concerned that the LE decks were add-ons, but I figured it would be okay since the MADE deck did the same and it seemed like Scott had a good system going... I wonder how he keeps track? I mean, on backerkit someone could swipe the LE deck you pledged for if you don't get there on time... Hmm.

Even if you don't receive a confirmation message, Jody knows when you've upped your pledge, so if he sees that, he will know to ensure that you get one. I think it also shows the order in which people have upped their pledges.

I think this situation is a result of the lack of options provided by KS, i dont really want to advertise CL on a thread like this, but hopefully it will be able to solve this problem with the backer cart system.

There simply isnt a good way to keep track of having a limited deck add-on on KS at the moment.

There isn't. Though it may have been easier if he opened up limited tiers for the black deck and then anyone who wanted one could switch to the new tier and just add-on their previous tier.

Haha the early birds would be screaming then. Its not 100/200 decks like the gran reservia, most will be jumping tiers and its another huge mess after that.

Hey guys! Utter Fool and Chach, I have just confirmed Utter Fool, but I am not sure if Chach has been. I don't think you go by the same username in KS.

Volantangel and Sher are correct, if you message me you will get a confirmation email from me letting you know that you will receive your Black Inks.

One of the things about KS is that there is no way to keep definitive track of add-ons. Volant is correct, when I considered how I would treat the Black Inks either as an add-on or as a limited tier, I chose add-ons because I thought making new tiers would create a huge mess as well. I am not blaming the KS system for this mess, I am just saying that I need to learn how to best do things for future reference.

Everything always seems simpler when you look back at it, but I just have to move forward. I truly want to be honest with people. I could have just printed more and not told anyone, but I felt that was pretty dishonest. I chose to be honest with everyone.

Thanks Jody, I do have a diff name on kickstarter, just got the confirm message a bit ago from you. I'm Kris K over there. Thanks a bunch, the situation sucks for sure but you're doing what you can and that's what matters. Still got my support if it means anything.

One of the suggestions was to keep the original 1000 special, then have people add on an unlimited version. Maybe you can do something with special numbered seals for the original 1000 and a different seal for the additional 500? That way they're still the same print run, but the first 1000 are numbered and special. I personally don't mind about it increasing to 1500 but I know some people like the original 1000 limit because it's more exclusive, so this might be a compromise?

New update. Limit increased to 1,500. To ensure that all backers who initially pledged for the black ink will get theirs, Jody is inputting all black ink add ons manually on backerkit for each backer who pledged for it, so no one can snipe it. Then, those backers will receive their invite two days ahead of time so they can confirm their order. Any extras can then be taken by the rest. Like I said in the comments:

"As someone who already pledged for the black ink deck, I support your decision to increase the limit to 1,500. And wow, manually inputting all those orders is crazy! Just shows how dedicated you are to do right by us."

Feels like a shady way to increase his funding by $6,500. Should of kept to his original plan of 1,000 and not go back on his word. Will he mess up again and have to bump it up again to 2,000? Who knows, but adding 50% more to a limited add-on is not good. Why is he trying to piss off his old backers while trying to please the people that just came on? Doesn't make sense. If people missed it, they missed it. I've missed plenty of limited add-ons, but I don't go whining to the creator and make him change a print run. Weird decision.

How is it shady? He let everyone know beforehand and even asked people for their opinion. As an "old backer", I'm not pissed off! I really don't give a flapjack about "Limitedness", especially when a Limited edition deck is only $13. Compare that price to GET MADE!, Tenebre, 6-deck Day of the Dead, etc... all their Limited decks were $15+. This one is cheaper, AND it has a different back - not just a recolor.

I agree with your second point - If people missed it, they missed it. But I'm looking forward to the Black Ink decks that I don't even care anymore lol.

+1 This would be really good. However, won't people be incentified to also get the 500-seal decks as well? For complete coverage's sake.

I'm disappointed, mainly, b/c it seems like Jody didn't even give the other suggestions a second glance. This late in the campaign I just think it's kinda bad taste to make a move like this.
