You're welcome, but could you please call me "Robert" instead of "Bob"?

LONG STORY YOU DIDN'T ASK FOR ALERT:

My parents and siblings always called me Robert, even when I was a child (they still do, as a matter of fact), and my mother, for reasons unknown to me, made it clear that letting people call me Bob, Rob, Bobby or Robby was A. Very. Bad. Thing, and I would always correct people when they tried.

Whn I wes twenty years old, I fell in love with a young woman who absolutely refused to call me anything but Bob, and I put up with it. We were married later that year, thus starting My "Twenty-three Years of Bobness", during which time I created my old playing card web site, "The Bob Lancaster Gallery of Unusual Playing Cards"'.

After that no-longer-so-young woman divorced me, I reclaimed my Robertness. People who met me during my "Bob Years" are welcome to continue calling me Bob, but people who meet me now, not so much.

Sorry to be a jerk about it.

Shermaine, as far as I know, it is actually called the Oriental Deck. I got it from playingcardz.net via eBay. Just do a search on ebay for it. I have no idea what the actual cards look like other than the AoS and Jokers, as I only got one deck.

Happy Hunting!

It's Friday - let's see what the postmaster dropped on me:

Various new and vintage decks, the Wireless is interesting, and the Mohawk deck is mint. Smith Back #3's, Robert E Lee set in tin, Star Wars TNG pair, mint in tin (enesco again), Colt "Snake Eyes" mint, Bicycle 2000 (Millennium) pair, mint in tin, Braille deck mint, Totems ×3 each (oddly it's hard to tell the red from Blue), Wedgewood pair, mint in box w/tax stamps and Congress seals, Swedish deck mint (inscription is "Försäljn AB, Rättvik, Sweden").

Yep, it's one of the standard two-deck Congress (bridge size) boxes, nothing special. That's why I didn't bother to picture it. Finding those with the tax stamps and Congress old style circular seals is pretty unusual these days.

I said (elsewhere) that I would dig out my pair of mint De la Rue (British) playing cards - so here they are:

Two antique decks that I thought I had already posted - but didn't:

First is the c 1885 A Dougherty "Patended" (with indices) Hochman AD21a deck and the second is a c 1890 Perfection / New York (Hochman PU4a) deck. Both are in really good condition, and typical of many early decks, no joker nor boxes.

Nice one Mike!

Odd how the backs of these decks, 5 years apart and made by different companies, are so alike in colour.

I agree. That particular red was popular at the time, and like almost every antique deck I have, I think the yellowish tint is a bleed over 100+ years from the red. Most in that time frame are red or blue.

and yes... I finally broke down and picked up the rest of the merz decks. (bowing my head in shame)
After I made that purchase, I was only missing around 7-8 modern "Bicycle" branded decks.

Hey,

When a black club member renewed, you could buy 4 more Gold Artifice.
I had a friend who renewed, and I picked up the extras he was eligible for.
Pierre kept one, and the other 3 came to me :)

oh, ... and I do have magic powers

Hey ecnate, I think we found those decks on the same site! I had been waiting on those for like two weeks and they arrived today. :) I think the site was TWA or something like that. Here in the US, got me for like 2 bucks a piece, except Emily which was like 5. If only they had a nicer finish, everyday thing else checks out great.

Robert: cool decks! I really like the soccer one! :)

Those look great, but would probably be nearly as bad (for my heart) if I ate them as is the stuff he usually leaves at my house. :(
