These came in yesterday, 1 deck was fine, one came w a dent (as pictured, not on purpose tho) pity vanda isn't the most responsive when it comes to replacements. I still haven't sorted out my Polaris replacements.

I mentioned, in an email to Linnea yesterday, that I can't wait to see the box that Peter comes up with to hold All six of the Uusi decks later this year! (it's bound to be spectacular)

Now, utterfool's photo has me wondering:

Have there been/will there be two backs for each of the six decks?

I know there were two for Bohemia, two for Royal Optiks, and two for PAGAN.

Were there two for Blue Blood? For Blue Blood Redux?

Will there be two for Hotcakes? For the final (sniff!) Uusi deck?

Hey, wait a second, that's SEVEN decks!:
  1. Blue Blood
  2. Bohemia
  3. Royal Optiks
  4. Blue Blood Redux
  5. Pagan
  6. Hotcakes
  7. ?? - the to-be-announced "sixth" deck.
...or was BB Redux not counted, sorta being the "unlimited" version of BB?

Yeap, bob you got it right, BB redux isnt part of the series. Uusi wanted to improve on their previous work plus give a chance to those who missed out. If you lump them together, there have been 2 decks for each of the series. We would most likely see a two colour variation of Hotcakes as well =)

Nothing inherently wrong with his decks. Don't get me started on Merz himself though

I wonder if he's lowered the prices more by now...?

The only ones of his decks that I have are the two Christmas ones and the two Tie-Dyes, as they are the only ones with custom courts (the courts in the Christmas ones wearing Santa hats, and the courts in "Tie Dye 2" sporting tie-dyed shirts).

As for the man himself, I've had nothing but satisfactory interactions with him, via eBay.

Peter's craftsman ship is without compare. Really the only thing that could go into a brick box like this are Uusi's gorgeous cards. Anything else would just turn to dust.
That's a sweet looking box! :o

==========[ "No-Revoke" Decks ]==========

To expand a bit on what Mike posted earlier about "No-Revoke" decks:

In Bridge (and in many other "trick-taking" card games), a play in violation of the game's rules is sometimes called a "Revoke".

One of the most commonly-made Revokes is playing a card of the wrong suit (such as when a player must play a card of the same suit as the card which "led" - was first played in - a given trick). This often happens when a player mistook the suit of the lead card (usually mistaking it for the other suit of the same color).

To help avoid such revokes, decks were created in which the pips of each of the four suits is a different color.

Such decks are (optimistically) referred to as "No-Revoke" decks.

Most "No-Revoke" decks have white faces, but the black faces of the Arpak deck, by making the colors of the pips "pop", make it even more difficult to mistake a card's suit for another suit.

It should be noted that the colors of the suits can vary from one "No-Revoke" deck to another (for example, although clubs are green in the Arpak deck, they may be blue, for example, in another "No-Revoke" deck, and so on.)
Oh, cool. Really interesting! Thanks for sharing. I like learning about the history of cards. :D

I'll second the thanks about the 'No-Revoke', interesting stuff.

I got 2 packages today. Talked myself into getting the Curator deck after finally signing up for the Clipped Wings. I also decided I would pick up A War of Kings. Curator is a great art deck, top 10 for me. The Kings deck has some neat artwork, but the quality of the deck is questionable and what's up with those Jokers??? Interesting Kickstarter reward, but it kinda ruins the feel of the deck.

It seems to me that jokers are, all too often, the "weakest link" in a deck's design.

I get the impression that they are often almost an afterthought. :(

I can be on the lookout for my Gold deck now, it would've been great if gilded edges were available.

The gold deck is the best out of the current Elite decks, at least in my opinion. Gilded edges would have been perfect. I would have pledged for one if that was the case.

What are their other decks? (I'm not up on these new groups (Theory11, etcetera).

Yes, if there was ever a deck whose design cried out for gilded edges, this would be it, wouldn't it?

Yep, that's my problem. They either are just plain uninspired or they seem to be playing off their previous or prior deck? Let's see - where does the list go right now: Excellence, One Million, Gold, Evolution, Platinum, Majestic, Ritual, Divine. You could argue that only "Evolution" is outside of their mold (which works well for them, just saying. I bought some...). My question is with so many produced, when will these ever be valuable?

I don't believe that I have ANY of those!

I got my Gold deck today and it's my favorite Elite deck. They make a nice looking gold fan, the pips are bigger than usual and the court card pictures are also big.

No the cards are flat and they shuffle well. The gold on the tuck may be metallic ink because it shines well. Once again, gilded edges would've been great, it'll be like holding a bar of gold.

Thanks, but by "flat" I meant "non-shiny" (as in wall paint being either Glossy or Flat).

Sorry if that wasn't clear in my post.
