We're going to be making a professional
'London / Frozen Diffractor - The Making Of'
video at some point, featuring videos and pics of the unique manufacturing we go through to produce Diffractor decks. Short clip link here of some of the metal plate lasering:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LPaAWixk1s
Some cool pics too of the metal plates close up and also of our new double display case...

I like the new boxes. Thanks for the update. Hopefully we can see the Ice piece for the frozen edition before too long.

@VXD are the cutting issues, which ocurred with the Las Vegas Diffractors resolved?
And, yes please. Making of is a superb idea for us card nerds.

Brad - Yes the display box is a nice improvement. Far more luxury and modern. Glad you approve.
Havons - Yep, that all sorted these days. Lotrek actually mentioned it to me as well and we discussed why it happened on that edition, with a view to making sure it is sorted out for our Monte Carlo collab. It's been adressed already for the London and Frozen though now. Basically (due to the stamping plates configuration), we used strange size sheets for the LV edition and then we had to cut all the cards in individual card stacks and feed them to cartamundi to put into their sorting machine. Anyway, now we have standardised that whole thing and it's all good.

Brad - Update on 'Frozen Metal & The Cube' on it's way within 24 hours. The Cube will be the last thing to be finalised on the 2 projects and we're still working on it with the factory.

Glad that this is sorted.
I'm looking forward to the making of... Maybe a sequel for the Monte Carlo as well, I wanna take a look over Lotrék's shoulder.

that is good to hear about the cutting issue. I got the vegas editions without knowing much about VxD but i thought the cards were really cool. When I got them though the cards couldnt shuffle at all and it ruined it for me. So thats good to know

Hey Ice Panda
Glad to have you on board for our last project. Thanks for supporting us. I hope we meet up to expectations on handling next time for you....yes, cutting issue is now sorted and generally we're always looking for improvements anywhere possible. Thanks.

Hi Piazza. Sorry I had tried to reply to this already, but kept getting a notice saying my IP address was blocked. I noticed this a few times over the years on here. Glitch / bug maybe (mods)?
Anyway, re Monte Carlo Diffractor....very ballpark....KS early Autumn. Lots of variables though still...delivering London & Frozen first, design work timeline, what new tricks Lotrek and we come up with
and there's that pesky virus thingy too...
Hoping for KS and delivery within 2021 though basically.

If you're getting a message that your IP address is blocked, please make a note of which IP address you were having issues with and PM me or the other moderators and we'll take a look. It's possible that some spam bots in the long long ago were using the same IP address as your ISP occasionally uses in order to spam us, which led to that block. We can unblock it once we know what it is. Thanks!

Aha...works again.
Ok, I have a bet for anyone that wants to take (bring on our worst enemy here lol). Here it is....in either 2022 or in 2023, we will get the award for best innovation.
I lay a free metal deck of your choice to anyone who bets against me on that, but if you lose....
you have to post a picture of your real self in front of your card collection with a sign saying "Ok, so I was wrong"
We have conceived something that will change playing cards literally forever...how they are made basically. I want that innovation award! Haha

It's such an exciting idea, that I had to come on here and tease a bit. But it'll take about 1 to 1.5 years to be ready at the factories

Btw - does anyone kind of worry that there is a bit of a monopoly (factory wise) in the industry. This has nothing to do with the innovation btw, just something that strikes me these days for the industry.

There's one thing that creators want to say but they are scared to....
I'm thinking of saying it for everyone. No it ain't to do with any issues with messages on here and taking flack. Much more problematic and it has to do with the choices / options available these days to print.
Print....isn't that old...print...that's thousand of years old....surely there's something superior. Have you guys seen these huge machines used for printing. When tech is making things smaller and more powerful, printing has stayed quite put I feel like. Don't get me wrong, the machines are super impressive, really impressive and fast and can be very precise...but something doesn't fit with today's tech advances.
Where's the advanced printer that kind of sprays like a robot sprays a car. something like that. Just a nozzle that sprays the whole sheet in super precision with all kinds of paints and metals and such things. Like a laser cutter but a printer head. Then we could do one off decks. Not needing to make a minimum of 1000 decks each time.
A thought...

Award for Innovation with what organization? Who gives out such an award? Yeah, I'll take that bet, and I'll throw in a unnecessarily fat pledge on whatever Kickstarter you're running at the time.

And why is there no new colour in the world. I might try to invent that. Actually they exist already, it's just that our human eyes are only evolved to see the colors we do.
How would you explain a color to a blind person? That's basically the same question as saying "can you imagine a new color"....and what would you call it or how would you describe it to someone.

Ok, for the sake of us not potentially losing a thousand decks here....I'll limit it to the first 5 people that step up to the bet. I'll have the deck engraved as promised.
It's fun anyway. Feels better than having stress with some people on here. I know I've rubbed some people up the wrong way in the past here. I can't do too much about that really, it's just my over-confidence I think (not a great trait - bordering on arrogance I guess).
But I appreciate that anytime there is an issue too, there are also people that come to the rescue and show friendship & support.
Ok, who wants the bet??...

Shkorc...you know that it's coming, right. You must be 100% sure. We're actually making it. But it seriously difficult, not just cos we have totally unusual processes, but also due to Covid. I can only say to you sorry for your continued delay. Maybe we can do something for our backers as a sign of our gratitude for bearing with us.
I often think to myself that people must question whether it's worth it to back early, at basically half price. I mean some people save only $20 or so, if it was Classic deck, some a save a lot more. But I hope it's not just the money factor and we really really do appreciate peoples support that made our company come to reality. I can honestly say that it would have been very very difficult without KS and UC as supporters.

One off decks- MPC is doing great there...I got a prototype recently with precise registration. The finish (their new beta finish) was also good.
A hand painted deck is always a one off and I bet collectors will go for it compared to a machine printed one, if both are at the same price point.
VXD - Innovation is great but monetization is a big factor. Sometimes you don't need to be the first entrant in the market.
Bocopo/Kevin Yu's luna moon deck was innovative but they copied the packaging idea from packaging industry...A Danish company had done similar packaging years ago but it was the first deck with an impressive tuck and the subsequent versions have sold like hot cakes too. A tip of the hat to them.

id be willing to take that bet
so by December 2023, ur going to post a independent 3rd party review displaying you won best innovation for/with playing cards or something else?
and let’s be honest, it can’t be some award “you create” because you believe ur cards are the next best thing since sliced bread
still to this day your highly ambitious goal is to get ur cards into the vegas casinos how’s that coming along
nothing is more entertaining then watching people call out / predict what they’re going to win prior to actually winning it
but you failed to mention what the 5 winner will win in January 2024
so in return for the winners id like to see u in front of a camera with a sign that reads “OK, so I was wrong and I shouldnt make ridiculous bets on UC without knowing how ridiculous I sound prior to making them”
sound good? if so count me in
