Thanks for the link. For those interested it looks like the White Wolf Vodka deck can be purchased. The others are listed as "Out of stock". Strange they would sell one.

I thought the same thing and was mad I missed out, but if you click it to try and buy you'll see these very sad words - "AVAILABLE ONLY IN THE PROHIBITION BOXED SET". Can't buy. :( At least we know they plan on improved v2 later that can be individual.

And where do you get the idea that there will be a V2?

Earlier in this thread, at least it was implied and mention of all 6 then being portrait instead of mix with landscape which I believe the shipped box set will be:
Mike24 wrote:Yep, all 6 will be the same portrait orientation.
MagikFingerz wrote:
Mike24 wrote:The decision to change orientation was from Brad. He said when these decks are hanging on a shelf in a store or in a display unit, they're always vertical. So if we have landscape orientation customers won't be able to clearly see the tuck.

I get it, makes sense. It's too bad though because the landscape orientation looks great on those decks.

Mike
So are the other 4 vertical? And all 6 will be vertical in the second edition?

It looks like the horizontally oriented decks will still have the regular top loading tuck box instead of side loading tuck boxes, which is a relief. Even though the USPCC does side tucks correctly and glues the bottom flap so that you don't have issues putting the cards back in the tuck box, unlike the EPCC decks, I still don't like the way the side tuck boxes break up the back design of the box.

Nailed this one! I just don't like them, any way - "right" or wrong. Who does?

Got both sets today. First comment is I think the box looks a bit plain when it's closed. Those Artisan boxes had a nice engraved logo on the top. This box has the prohibition word engraved inside but it would have been nice on the outside also. The card decks look great. In the end it was a bit pricey but good addition to the collection

That's disappointing to hear. It's going to make it harder to justify a purchase.

Just to clear something up, none of these tucks are side loading. All of them are regular tucks that open on the top.

What about a V2 with all portrait tucks, any truth to late? Any info if it is?

Got my order. I would have preferred if the Prohibition logo was on top too.

I'm going to be looking around for something like velvet to line the inside of the box.

I ordered these because, well, they looked intriguing. Picked them up during the Black Friday weekend, when the discounts were pretty good. I was bracing myself for a little bit of deja vu... previews of the Tequila deck looked like it borrowed heavily from Calaveras, while what little we saw of the Rum deck made me think of the Seven Seas and Voyager decks.

Truth is, there were other elements of other Prohibition decks that also evoked the recent work of others; the vodka deck, for example, has court cards that made me think of Draplin Design's "Thick Lines" deck that was launched via DeckStarter. Even so, even with all that "inspired by" feel to it... okay, I admit it: Wow. These decks are really, really well done. They hit this set out of the proverbial ballpark. Even where they seem to have taken ideas and concepts done by others, they cranked the attitude of the design up to eleven.

Look, nothing E did with the tequila deck ("Desparos") takes anything away from Chris O's Calaveras deck. Chris' work remains among my favorites. But whereas his work on Calaveras evokes the celebration of the dead, E's deck is a dusty, dry, display of desperation. It's just plain brilliant. A pleasure to fan and spread and shuffle. A feast for the eyes. The theme is expertly executed throughout the deck.

Each of the other Prohibition decks is similarly tight with their respective themes, and the sense of design is palpable. Opening each deck was like unwrapping a Christmas present. Truly, a wonderful experience for this collector.

It's easy to be critical of Ellusionist. Just a few moments ago, I posted in another thread here about my concerns with regard to the Black Club. Still, props where props are due: the design of the Prohibition decks (and their tucks) demonstrates beyond any doubt that Ellusionist can still rock the playing cards when they want to.

Well done, E.

Edit: corrected a few spelling errors. Musta had too much chocolate milk while writing this. >Hic<

With $10 shipping, so $109.99, delivered.
Black Club: $118.75 + $15.62 shipping = $134.37

Glad Brad is treating the Black Club members better (nevermind everybody else)!

I use a shipping consolidating service that has a warehouse in Portland, OR. It's how I save on them crazy Kickstarter shipping, etc.

How does this work. Could it be used by UK buyers. I hate how much shipping costs. I know it costs a lot but some of the KS Shipping prices seem to be very much over what it would cost.

I haven't bothered picking up the prohibition set. I like the look of he decks but can't justify spending all that on 6 decks and a box. I like to open my decks so I wouldwant the extra un boxed set and that would run $200 with shipping. Too much for me on these.

I've been using Shipito.com, but I can't tell you if I've saved money or not since I pay way less in shipping but I've been purchasing a lot more as a result. :P

@Marcus: How is the customs situation for you? Do you have to pay customs fees on every package you get forwarded via that service?

I do if it's above a certain sum total ($30 I think, but they include shipping in it). But it comes out to less than had I not used one, especially since I can consolidate all different packages into a large one and save on shipping that way.

I meant to take photos of the Calaveras deck by way of compare and contrast, but neglected to do so at the time (and now is not convenient). Still, it's interesting to compare and note where they are similar, and where they are very different.
