I don't mind if the price is a couple of dollars. But international shipping is a bitch and I really wish I got in on the EB for this one. I missed the EB because of the World Cup.

Saw the new update. Word of caution - if I recall correctly, KS has a rule against running contests during the campaign.

No worries, just canceled the contest. You can count it as a rookie mistake ;)

I'm sorry, maybe I misinterpreted that incorrectly.... Giving away free decks based on a raffle. I should double check. I remember backing a project that had to do give aways off site since KS didn't agree with that. But I've been wrong before. Completely sorry if misunderstood. I will check back.

Didn't the Different Deck have contests? I almost remember them having extra decks for contests.

I'm trying to track down where I got that impression. What's difficult about KS is they're pretty inconsistent with enforcing things. (ex. Most projects get away with saying 12 decks and some have to be revised because they can't give more than 10 units as a reward unless you say it's a brick, which counts as one unit). I can't even track down that rule about units, though I'm sure that's also been discussed before.

EDIT: Okay, I figured out how I knew that. I backed Dia de Los Muertos and had to click on their blog where they made an announcement for a contest and they stated:
Welcome to our blog, amigos! So, Kickstarter won’t allow us to do any kind of giveaway on their site, which is fine by us. All the more reason to get you over here where you can read our blog whenever you like, which we’ll be updating regularly with info about what else we’re working on, though for now it’s mainly getting all our faithful backers’ pledges fulfilled.

Why? Low on money? It is a point now where people are more selective than ever on what they buy. I canceled some projects because I see they won't get funded. These decks are some of the best this year. If they were same decks with different tucks, I would just get one but thank goodness both are different.

There's a 2+2 $40 EB pledge available now.... (well for the next couple of seconds anyway ;-)).

Thanks to this thread I realised that the non-Bicycle branded decks are printed by LPCC... so that saved a few dollars :-)

Hey everyone! Just wanted to get your feedback on the new Joker for the Bicycle deck. I can't believe they actually made a bicycle to ride the rails. Let me know what you think.

Jokers look nice, but you need to distinguish the jokers. Meaning one needs to be major, minor, red, black, whatever. In some games, the Jokers need a rank of high and low. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joker_(playing_card) In your case, maybe just making the "joker" black on one of the jokers cards would do the trick. Ppl could say the gold joker is high while the black joker is low....

How about making the right side Red, since I already use the Red Metallic ink, and I think that would look pretty cool.

for the train jokers i personally think gold, red and black on the one card would be too busy, and even take away from the linework of the picture. if you need to differentiate joker, i would suggest one with gold as is, and on 2nd joker totally replace the gold with the red in the same positions. similar to how youve done on the suits.
this would help carry that colouring theme right through the deck aswell.

i do like how youve played with the US monogram you would see on USPCC jokers, to read GS for golden spike. clever!

and further to my above comment, for the bicycle riding jokers, have one joker with both the US monogram black and the second joker with both the US monograms red. i think that would solve the issue. and keep the design consistency for each of the respective deck versions

@jodyeklund - After looking at you deck a bit deeper, I think your right in making one of the Jokers indices metallic red because you're already using it, but use it only in the index and yes that would look very cool.

That would do the trick, but just know back in your Bicycle deck your Joker #2 needs to also have red in the joker indices. That would make it consistent with both decks.

So in your Bicycle deck, its Black and Red and then in your LE deck it's Gold and Red.

It's hard to screw up on the Jokers. You can basically do whatever you want. In the history of Jokers, most of them are "1-sided" and latly I'm seeing most go all the way to the cut border. It's just your job to make them different from each other. The owner of the cards can decide what Joker is Major and the other Minor. Hope that makes sense.
