Wow! Jackson Robison has become a big boy now. He has separated himself from Kickstarter. No more giving 5% to them guys. Now in processing fees, it might be 5% with crowdtilt, but it still saves himself a lot of money. With the 5% saved, he can sell his decks cheaper and he is trying to make a standard deck for everyone. Meaning he can produce more decks in the future and not say this is a limited edition deck.
May I suggest, somewhere on your tuck box put "2014" If you think about it, you can make your standard deck somewhat limited if the box has the year on it then if you produce more decks you would put "2015". Bicycle has been putting a code on the Ace of Spades for years, but that code is obsolete now. Remember deck collectors don't open their decks. I have to hand it to you Jackson you are taking a real positive path. I'm just curious is the USPCC charging you for the "Tally-Ho". I know if you use "Bicycle" on a tuck box it's about .75 more per deck.
When I first saw that you were live, I thought I heard all them Kickstarter card deck projects butts pucker because a 100,000 dollar big dog came on the scene, but this is not the case. Don't expect to reach 100,000 with your project, but I would suggest to make a lot of extra decks if you put "2014" on your box for your first run. It's a nice deck; Who knows you might become the standard deck in the future and see this deck in every Walmart. Giving a brick for a gross is a nice touch. My hat is off if I were Don....

Typical top shelf decks (embossing, foil) on KS go for $10 for a bird, $11-12 for standard pledge shipped. Two of these cost 21 bucks or 10.50 each shipped. My mind may change but I just wasn't feeling it.

Just pledged. The 10% off code is still working. Basically got a brick with only $1 shipping.
It seems like it's a little high but i have a feeling JR is going to give a lil more. I could be wrong though.

Looks good! I got myself a brick to help things along, not that it needs it: already funded over 2x what he needed to print them, so I don't think that's an issue any more.

I ordered a few decks, forgetting the discount code, and then figured I'd go back and modify my pledge.
But... it doesn't appear to be a pledge in the KS sense of the word. Rather, it's an order. There's no way that is obvious to cancel or modify one's pledge via the front end. There is an option of e-mailing Jackson if you have any questions about your order, and I guess this could count as a question about the order... but, I'm disappointed with the front end of the site at this point. This is why I skipped Deckstarter (well, one reason; the other reason being the pricing of the deck I was interested in); there was no way to modify or cancel one's pledge through the front end.
I'll prep an e-mail to send Jackson soon, I suppose, regarding getting the discount code in, but I hope this user experience element is resolved before too long. Like many customers, I like to be able to handle things quickly in an automated fashion, rather than involving a lot of back-and-forth (when it can be avoided.)
Hmmmm....

Ordered a brick. I'm disappointed as well in a few things with the campaign (pricing, lack of KS-like options such as refunds/cancellations, the fact that it feels more like a preorder instead of a pledge, etc etc), but the process was streamlined and the site looked nice.
I'm hoping this deck will get JR to create more variations of the Tally-Ho. More COLORFUL versions please

You can choose as many decks as you want - but it's on the next page.
It looks nice and clean, but I agree, there needs to be a clear and easy way to manage your pledge (whether up or down) without having to email admin.
I'd also have liked to have seen teh red included in this - for those of us wanting one or two decks (one isnt really sensible, but two take a bit of the sting out of shipping) it would have been nice to be able to pledge for a set.

From the Frequently Asked Questions at the bottom of the page:
>How do I edit my order / pledge?
If you want to add to your pledge simply pledge again. If you would like to cancel your order contact
support@kingswildproject.com
>What if I want more than one deck but not a whole brick?
Simple. Just click the 1x deck option and then before you check out you will see the option to add up to eleven decks. No need to worry about add-ons.
Shipping always sucks.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Ratman is also approaching 1/4 of the daily posts on this site...
I appreciate Sinjin's concerns about impartiality. I brought up some of the same concerns when the whole CardLauncher thing was first publicly announced, and he was one of the few that agreed with me.
Most people seemed to think something along the lines of: "there's nothing to worry about, because Mike has a good head on his shoulders, and we can trust him and the mods to make the right decisions"... Is that still working out for everyone?

Only 3 days to go and the project is still just under $25K. I thought this would be a much more successful project than what I'm seeing to date. Unless this gets a dramatic bump at the very end (D$D style
), this will be Jackson's least "funded" project (I consider the Moriarty reprint as part of the Sherlock series, not a separate project).
I'm wondering if D$D, Jackson, and Mike R are underestimating the gigantic marketing reach of Kickstarter? I don't know at this point that any playing card project on other crowd-funded sites like Deck$tarter, KW Funded, or CardLauncher will have the $100,000.00+ earning potential that Kickstarter has proven to be able to provide. If this is the case, why would anyone use any crowd-funding platform other than Kickstarter? It appears that Kickstarter is the big, bad giant and D$, KW, and CL are little midgets just trying to look taller.
If any custom deck should have exploded, it would've been a well executed, fully custom revision of the iconic Tally Ho Circle Back by Jackson Robinson, yet its funding level is literally only a fraction of his more successful projects on Kickstarter. I know Jackson stumbled out of the gate by trying to claim this would be a lower priced staple deck, when it is in fact every bit as expensive as all his other custom decks that are
actually limited and with more bells and whistles on the tuck box than we apparently see on the KW Tallys. Also, $12.00 is over-priced for a staple, unlimited deck, and I'm happy to see the market correcting a little in this area. But I don't know if Jackson's marketing screw ups and over-pricing of his deck alone can account for the massive discrepancy between his Kickstarter projects and this Kings Wild Funded project.

In the end the KW Tally Ho deck is a "just" a modified/stylized version of the modern classic Tally Ho.
As you said no fancy tuck case and the same pricing as his limited decks - if its the market who says no to this or the lack of exposure (by not using Kickstarter) ...well we will never know.
For my part, i can´t justify the pricing....a "staple" deck which costs me when i buy 6 deck about $11.50 shipped ($14.50 if customs tax applies) to germany.
I´m very sure that i will get one or two less expensive from playingcardz (france) or JP (Uk) once they are released.

I'm getting a little burned out by the insane amount of decks at our disposal. I believe someone mentioned that this market is a bubble waiting to burst. I think it might be getting there.
The gilded UUSI thread is receiving more "I'm broke so I'm passing" than the standard drooling accompanied by their decks. Which I'm finding very surprising (well, not really because that's a steep price but in different times it might have been a different case.) Jackson is getting "I'm not paying $12 for this!" Granted its a very attractive deck, but the general consensus is "unlimited, staple deck for $12? No thanks".
All these sites and deck designers, if they don't play their cards right (unintentional pun), will just tank. Some projects are inching closer and closer to offering a deck that's just too expensive. Making them that much more easier to live without and go find something more accommodating.
With far too many projects, I've found myself saying "I'm paying HOW MUCH for this?!", urging me to dial it down. I find myself throwing 40, 50, 60, up to 100 dollars per project and with the alarming rate at which their popping up, chances are I drop some all together to favor what I like best. It's getting
that easy to ignore projects now.
My fear with Cardlauncher is the amount of projects that will be running at once. Last I heard it was like 5.
Frankly, I'm scared.
But that's a talk for another thread.

I'm not sure that it is a question of Kickstarter vs KingsWildFunded. I think there are so many choices for custom playing cards right now that people are a bit spread thin. I love Tally-Ho's and I really like what Jackson designed. Perhaps this isn't the staple deck price people expected, but I do think that 8.oo is about the same as any custom deck on Ellusionist, Theory 11 etc... Is it a deck I would use for a signed card trick? No. Is it a deck I would use for Magic in general? Probably not just because Bicycle is the most recognized deck for folks and they find it above suspicion. I feel like Jackson gets a lot of heat on this forum. I backed the Tally-Ho because I like it and I want to support Jackson's effort to break away from Kickstarter and do his own thing. It may not be a 100,000.oo campaign but it is a successful outing. I don't think this deck would have funded that much on Kickstarter either. It's one deck, one tuck. All of Jackson's Kickstarters have been multiple decks, in some cases multiple tucks. In the end how we spend our dollars speaks volumes.

Like cosmicsecret said, whether it's the lack of interest from the market or lack of exposure, we can't be sure. From this project alone, I don't think we can predict how well other crowd funding campaigns outside of Kickstarter will do.
I personally didn't go for this deck because "it's just a modernized/stylized version of the tally-ho deck." When it was first revealed, I was excited and considered buying it, but that gradually faded when placed in comparison with other custom decks. Even more so since the campaign is only for the blue backs. I wouldn't pay $12 for this... Maybe if he came out with the Hive or even the baseball one, more people would go for it... I probably would.

I was shocked by the cost as well since it really should be more like $8 SHIPPED. I bought one anyhow though, but ONLY because it was Jackson's first tweak on a classic. Any more standards at this price I'll be passing. Hopefully future ones on kingswildfunded will be more custom and won't have a premium above this cost.

While I know the sentiment here is for "more customization," I have to say, I'm a fan of doing updates to the old classics. I'd like to see more of those, as well... but, of course, preferably at lower prices, thereby making it possible to actually use these cards more often in regular game play.
