It's a shame they couldn't get a different back for each card, but this is closer to what I wanted. Still, having it be add-on only is unfortunate.
Each card with different back could have happened if only all of the designers who had worked on the faces also submitted their back design as well. Unfortunately, not everyone make it... So, he worked with whatever is done. This new edition should try to compensate everyone and what the Unity Deck is supposed to be.

Looks like there's now 10 versions to get in this project? And then it's also being referred to as Volume One.
It's crazy on how.... when you thought it's just one deck... then quickly turns into three different editions, and then.... each edition has three different versions to satisfy certain groups: some that like holographic foil, some that like gilding bonanza, some who just want everything to be normal. I can bet, if there are no gilded versions, some people are going to throw a tantrum (assuming now people are accustomed to gilded decks on every custom design decks) and not going to back the project. Just be glad it is not 18 different editions (to comply with 18 different backs), which becomes 54 DIFFERENT DECKS (18 Basic - 18 Premium - 18 Ultra) if it happened! [your bank will question on how $700 gone in an instant XD)
This is when your completionism is tested: are you okay with just a set of gilded decks OR you are fine with just one basic deck OR you HOARD THEM ALL like a dragon.

Yeah, that’s what I meant. It’s a shame they couldn’t get all the designers to make a back design. Having a corresponding back for each card seems so crucial to the concept for this deck I’m sure they must have tried everything possible to make it happen. This one is closer but I really don’t want the holo and the gilding. I know, you can’t please everyone.

I guess the design arrangement with the artists made it too much to ask for a back design as well?
If they're paid to do a back design they all would've made one for sure.

I'm not too sure if they were paid upfront at all. Might be an agreement on royalty payments, as many creative collaborations go that route.

Gonna be a pass for me. There are designers involved I don't want to support and not enough of the designers I do like to make me consider it. And now 10 versions? Have to admit I really don't get it.

Single deck add-ons are 6$/deck extra shipping?

I can’t remember a time that I ever liked it when there were more than 4 versions, and I am pretty sure I remember liking the ones with one or two best.
Sometimes it feels like just too much, sometimes it feels like a cash grab, seldom does it seem like I found Eden and Aladdin’s cave wrapped up into one.

Come here to thank laitostarr777 for smacking some sense into me. I originally went for the 9, then plus 1, and potentially more to come. I changed to 2 decks instead.
I think it is a great deck to show off as a unique deck, and perhaps that's the intention - to let everyone choose what they like best to buy - and the completionist in me has accepted defeat.

Are the 3 base decks completely different in every way besides the tuck design being the same except for color? If not then I don't see much point in having so many except the gilding/non-gilding preferences but even then... is the only difference between the premium and ultra versions the gilding? 18$for the premium and then 29$ for the ultra? The add on shipping cost per deck makes that option unrealistic. I guess the best value would be to go all in and maybe that was the intended outcome. It's a hard sell for anyone who wants only a couple decks.

As much as we critique, Dexter created a campaign that had every single deck available to backers from the start (minus a stretch goal), with no gatekeeping tiers. It's essentially what we ask for from a lot of creators.
"To the Sky" (Brown tuck with back by Marianne Larsen) - Comes in Basic, Premium, Ultra
"Just for Fun" (Cream tuck with back by Ritu Bhattacharya) - Comes in Basic, Premium, Ultra
"Only for Fun" (Green copper tuck with back by Bivas Bhattacharjee) - Comes in Basic, Premium, Ultra
Frozen" (Blue tuck Includes all 18 backs) - One version. Comes with holo foil on the backs but none on the front. Gilded.
Basic: No holo or gilding. Same tuck features.
Premium: Full dynamic Holographic effect on both sides of each card
Ultra: Premium + gilded

YESH! Things like this is what we now in favour with - we can get whatever our hearts desires and NOT "must get these to get those"

I don't really have a dog in this fight (and it's not really much of a fight), but from what I can see on the KS page, it's not 100% true that all decks are available individually, except as add-ons. So I guess you could just back at the $1 supporter tier, then add on whatever you want, but it's still a bit of a work-around.
In any case, what I really came here to ask is this: What exactly does the "#payitforward" mean for this campaign?
My personal interpretation is that this implies that the campaign is fundraising for some kind of "good cause", but I don't see that spelled out anywhere in the campaign. I looked through this thread and couldn't find any clear answers there either, or at the Drip Drop facebook page.
Am I missing something, or is this just an ordinary card campaign where the owner will use the profits however they see fit? I made the ASSUMPTION that the creators recruited all these high profile artists for a "cause" (in addition to whatever financial compensation), but I'm struggling to see what that cause might be.
I'm on the fence about backing this one, and any clarity on that would help.
I also wish they'd show some photos of the "holographic effect" on the front of the cards. It's not really clear to me what exactly this looks like.
You can kind of see it on the backs of the cards, but it's not clear to me that this is something I would actually want on the front of every card.

No idea what the pay it forward is referring to, but here are the holographic videos that Dexter had posted on facebook:

That definitely detracts from the art. Not a fan of its use in this case. That video backs me down to a 1 deck pledge and not getting the Frozen deck.

Pretty inescapable in a deck of this type now that I think about it - no way you take all those art styles and just slap them on holo and think none will suffer…
Might make me have to add a standard deck, not sure if it makes me drop the holo, going to make me think a bit one way or another…
At least there is only one back I like, or I would have more to complain about - doesn’t anyone just make one deck anymore?

Well, with three versions of the “Only for fun” deck running $75 bucks I am not having fun choosing how to pair that down to 1 or 2…
Basic/Ultra it is, for the moment

I'm sticking to the basic "Only for Fun" but if I wanted to expand my palate, I would choose Ultra as my second deck to get.
Looks like these are made, unless the ones in the photo are prototypes.
Keep in mind the uncut tucks are not actually uncut, but an unfolded, cut tuck; not a fan of those personally.

I dont mind this kind of tuck addon
I will mind if when the tuck arrived, but the side is already glued (hence you can’t see the beautiful interior artwork inside). YES, IM LOOKING AT YOU, RIFFLE SHUFFLE >;(

For anyone interested, the campaign is now rewarding every backer with a free mini-deck. I don't know why this makes me nervous, but it kinda does.

Does seem like a campaign that could go sideways. I decided to hold off on backing since I don’t know the creator (I get the impression they are new to this) and there are a lot of variants to manage. Hopefully, it all goes well and I will maybe try to snag one later.

If anything, the campaign backing looks like underwhelming for the hype it created. Fulfillment is always the issue for these 1st time creators (anyone still remembers PlayTheVillain/VillainousIndustries?), and having a lot of variants wouldn't make ot easier.
But 422 backers seems alright, and will be fulfilled by Kingstar.

I have found the deck underwhelming so to reach 400% funding, I think he has done well. I don't like the French Horns and even with so many to choose from, the closest to a 'must have' card that I can find is the AoS but the claim "A Stockholm 17 collection will not be complete without this Ace of Spades" sounded desperate

After looking at the foiling, I am probably just going for the standard deck as well. Don't get me wrong, I have some full flood holofoil that has kinda grown on me, but not sure I want a ton of it in my life. I will say though that the show stopper for me is the tuck that is just sick.

This was unexpected, a free Flame mini deck for all backers.
Introducing Mini ‘Flames’ !! The picture above is a rendered color-variation from Kingstar. Awesome stuff!! I would like to thank them for their continued great customer service , via the amazing Patrick. They truly are going above and beyond.
So first, let me describe to you mini Flames. The mini tuck will not have embossing but will have foiling on the Unity symbol(front tuck) and Music symbol(back tuck). The sides will not have the names because it would just be impossible to even see. The gorgeous art on the cards inside will also be basic with no holo or gilding. I’m waiting for Patrick to confirm but the Back design chosen will be the one pictured above by Pedro Oyarbide.
Well anyways, I’ve decided to make these available as an ‘add-on’ for a nicely priced $6 USD per deck, limited to 3 per backer. Shipping will be free for the minis. These would be awesome as gifts and just a ‘cool-to-have’ for the collection.
But wait, how about we go into the last week even better and with a cooler smile . As a special thank you to all the backers, you will receive one mini ‘Flame’ for FREE. I repeat, all Backers will receive ONE free mini ‘Flame’ , of course free shipping too. So, whether or not you’d like to add more minis, you’ll be receiving one fiery collectible. Thanks again everyone and I hope this update has made you smile . God bless
