Massive thank you to Amy for organizing the best DOTY's UC has had so far! Now we wait to next week for the prize contest results

Amy did it....the lineup was pretty tough too. Awesome winners and totally deserving especially silk by lotrek.... thank you amy for making this DOTY awesome..

Ps: it is literally 3 am where I live and I was determined to not sleep until I saw the results lol.

I'm so sorry to have kept you up so late! next year, I might have to plan announcement of the awards on a day/time that would fit better for everyone as it was also really quite difficult to find the time to get everything posted since I was at work til pretty late today lol

Some DOTY award placements were not so surprising, whereas others were - which were the most unexpected wins for you all?

To me year 2019 is a small year for playing cards. Even with more cards designed and come to the market, there are less good ones imo

I almost feel sad glimpsing through the winner of DOTY 2019...

For me, the category of most interest and, imo, the one of the strongest competition was those competing for the title of 'Best Rookie' - honestly, all those nominated decks are so so well-deserving of the recognition! Really great job from so many talented new designers and it excites me most to see what they'll come out with in 2020 as I'm certain will see more of these promising new deck designers in next year's DOTYs!

I agree! I had a seriously hard time deciding who to vote for there...

I third the comment about rookie of the year award. The number of talented new deck artists was amazing in 2019. All the nominees were deserving. Several were also recognized in other categories.

I had a hard time with DOTY as there were several great nominees. Congrats though to Lotrek for the award for Silk. It was an amazingly stunning deck and a masterpiece in hot foil application.

I know a lot of people didn't view Best Fanning Deck as a significant award so they may not vote as seriously for that category, but I was still perplexed by the win by Goblin. Don't get me wrong, its a nice fanning deck, as are most full bleed backs, but the color scheme on the backs weren't that dynamic for me. My choice was Implicit V2, it was the only nominated deck with a foiled back, and multi-colored foil at that.

I, too, was extremely impressed with the quality of the Rookie category. It was the most difficult category for me to choose. My choice was Mirage. I felt it was a strong contender for best courts, best use of color, and best gaff cards in addition to being in the rookie category.

Obviously the big winner was Lotrek with Silk winning Best Overall Deck, but Alex Chin's 2019 NPCCD Series, Jody Eklund's Luminosity deck, and The Gentleman Wake's Parlour also shined as the only decks that won multiple categories.

One of the biggest surprises for me was the absence of any Jackson/King's Wild decks from the winners list. In fact, the only appearance of any Jackson deck was a second place showing in the Best Fanning Deck category, of all places. I guess it speaks to the strength of the overall quality of decks in 2019 where an artist as prolific and talented as Jackson gets shut out of our DotY Awards.

Congrats to all the nominees and winners. Special thanks to PipChick for an extremely well run contest. And a big thanks to all the prize donors, UC members have always been a big part of the donations, but this year we have quite an impressive showing from artists and companies as well and we should all be appreciative of their support.

I am very happy there are some TWI decks on the list, especially Monolith for the Best Colors
Now, the difficult tast for me will be make something crazier.
