Is cold foil only available in silver or gold with any colors being printed over silver?
I'd love to see copper cold foil. I love copper.

Yes, (at least from Coatimundi) Cold Foil is only available in Gold and Silver. Well, technically you have holographic as an option as well.STLBluesNut wrote:Is cold foil only available in silver or gold with any colors being printed over silver?

You can achieve a beautiful copper color by printing a specific CMYK value over the silver.

Gilded Copper Edition
The Gilded editions will feature a separate die cut belly band that will have a window that will reveal the edition number.

Will the gilded copper be available as a single pledge or will it only be available when purchasing other decks?

Yes, you will be able to snag either of the Gilded editions individually, in their own tiers.STLBluesNut wrote:Will the gilded copper be available as a single pledge or will it only be available when purchasing other decks?

Here is what I think the display decks will end up looking like. I have really enjoyed the slight upgrade in tuck quality with the Kings Wild Shorts and am continuing that through to this project.

Things are very rough at this point and are very subject to change. I have never shared a preview link to one of my Kickstarters before so feel free to leave any comments you might have in the comments section at the top.
I also added this a few pages back.

This may be the only playing card KS I do this year, but I definitely want a one-of-each pledge.

I really like the copper decks slanted graphic with the specs in it.
As always looks like it will shape up to be a great campaign!

Re: Invocation - By Kings Wild Project - Kickstarter
As much as everyone like to see the preview page, what gets me is this.
You have 4 decks within this campaign.
Copper Standard - $16
Copper Gilded - $26 ($10 Increase)
Platinum Standard - $20
Platinum Gilded - $32 ($12 Increase)
Why the $4 difference on the standard decks and $6 difference on the Gilded decks?
Just because you label a deck "platinum" shouldn't be a reason for the increased price difference.
And, what really gets me is the "Platinum" edition has copper gilded edges?!?! Couldn't you guild the platinum decks with silver or was that out of the budget?
Your already charging $6 more for decks that will all be gilded all at the same time.
Seems odd and a cheap way to cut corners on an already inflated deck.

Re: Invocation - By Kings Wild Project - Kickstarter
As much as everyone like to see the preview page, what gets me is this.

There are actually 6 decks if you count the display decks.
Copper Standard - $16
Copper Gilded - $26 ($10 Increase) Any designer that has done gilding before will tell you that gilding is one of the most if not the most expensive thing you can do to the cards themselves. Gilding with USPCC will easilly double the production cost per deck. I am even outsourcing the gilding so I'm saving a little, but with the price increase for the gilding I think $26 is a fair price.
Platinum Standard - $20
Platinum Gilded - $32 ($12 Increase) Same story as the copper gidling but with a two sided cold foil deck you now have foil and ink at the edge of the cards to interact with the gilding so the price is even higher for production for even more wastage.
Why the $4 difference on the standard decks and $6 difference on the Gilded decks? See Above
Just because you label a deck "platinum" shouldn't be a reason for the increased price difference. The reason the price increased is that many factors increased, more production cost, more hand assembly and more design time for more elements. I only called it Platinum because I thought Silver was lame in this case.
And, what really gets me is the "Platinum" edition has copper-gilded edges?!?! Couldn't you guild the platinum decks with silver or was that out of the budget? The Platinum decks will be gilded with Silver. If you read "Copper" it is only because this is a draft of the page and congratulations you did your part in helping me catch a typo.
Your already charging $6 more for decks that will all be gilded all at the same time. See above, before coming to conclusions.
Seems odd and a cheap way to cut corners on an already inflated deck.[/quote] When you gild you really don't cut the corners, you have to sand the corners then you can apply the sizing, then the gilding.

Is there really a difference between "Platinum" and "Silver" other than "Platinum" sounds more expensive?
I mean it is just Cartamundi's "Silver" foil!

Hi Jackson,
Just wanted to point out on your kickstarter campaign tier summary, I think for tier G1 it’s meant to say “1x each” instead of “2x each”. Might lead people to thinking it’s the same as tier H1.

Also for the gilded editions it reads "250 only 250 will be produced" I feel like the first (or second) 250 is unnecessary and it reads weirdly.
Im on the fence with this one but good luck either way! Not that you ever have difficulty funding your decks

That's definitely how it is for metals as far as cost. Even taking into account cost and rarity, I would take copper above the others whether it is cards or jewelry. I just like the look and color of copper better.hsbc wrote:Personally I think of platinum as above gold
Platinum > gold > silver > copper
Really though I bet it's just because calling it gold/silver is infinitely common so copper/platinum is a better word combo

Double_left asked reasonable questions. He may have been a little testy about it, but they were good questions and they did express a small degree of skepticism.
Jackson provided reasonable answers, with an equal amount of humor and grace.
And, in the process, I know more about this project and about card production than I did before I started reading this exchange.

Don't know if gcxmr2 is pointing out the pledge panel's description or the campaign panel's, but the campaign panel's G1 should be corrected as well to read "1x- of each" or to be clearer: "1x- of all"gcxmr2 wrote:Hi Jackson,

No disrespect to the poster with questions, but this is a Jackson Robinson deck... If you're paying < $40 for a gilded deck, then you instantly have a valuable collectible. Do you know how much these things go for on the open market!?
I'll bitch about crappy prices all day - very rarely is a JR deck overpriced @ pre-sale/Kickstarter.

Re: Invocation - By Kings Wild Project - Kickstarter
Exactly. JR has earned the right to charge whatever he wants for a deck. Pay it or don't. Do I like it? Not really but his prices aren't usually too outrageous. So I will speak with my wallet and commend him for achieving "elite status" in the modern day playing cards world of designers. The only thing I don't like is the shipping costs. It's probably not his fault but I would tack on an extra $6-$12 depending on the tier you pledge for.TwoPiece wrote:No disrespect to the poster with questions, but this is a Jackson Robinson deck...

I feel like double_left didn't understand that one edition was being printed by USPCC and the other by Cartamundi. It might have been good to mention that in the response, as it may not have been clear to them what the difference was and how that would affect cost/price-- although the double cold foil is probably a larger factor than difference in labor, materials, and duties.

Page and description looks good. Tiers are clear. It’s almost like you’ve done this before. There is one typo in your copy:
“The designs that transpired over the course of the day were promising to me, and most of very different than any of my previous work.” (“most of very different”, didn’t quite read right. However, I ain’t no English major.
