"juego" means "play" or "game", not "set". "juego de naipes" translates literally as either "play of cards" or "game of cards", and is the Spanish term/phrase for both "card game" and "playing cards".
That is my understanding, anyway.
Espadas, Oro, Copas y Bastos are Spades, Diamonds, Hearts and Clubs respectively.

Did Espadas. Coins, Cups and Cudgels "evolve" over time into Spades, Diamonds, Hearts and Clubs? I think the jury is still out on that one.
