Zenneth wrote:Hey guys,

Just a quick update to the pre-orders of Legends at Coterie, we too received our stock a couple hours ago and immediately working on packing.

All pre-orders will be shipped out within this week, until then, we will not relist the new stock on sale.

@Biggerdee, we have made some changes to the orders, one example is customers bought quite some quantity of Legends, but made a separate order for New Fan Back offer, for orders like such we have combined them into 1. There are also several orders that are not really completed(added to the cart but didn't complete the check out), however, all orders have Paypal transaction record, so if you have a question about your order, do shoot an email to info@coterie1902.com and I am sure my colleague will follow up.

Cheers,
Zenneth
Great . Hope mine will be shipped to me ASAP :)

Received mine today. (And the queens do look like dudes.....)
Bit of a plasticky feel to them, although they seem to fan fine (they faro okay but a lot of other decks do it much better)
Jokers with a dragon doing a card trick - now who doesn't like that, amirite??

Don't see a SPOIL tag here, so have fun finding the marking systems
(feel free to PM for the one for the ranks)

I've had these for a month and have been using them a lot, and I've noticed that they handle best once they have been broken in a lot.

So I know The deck is not USPC, but I was confused by the order of the cards in the box. is there a reason for the order of the cards. I am not a magician, and I know some decks come in a order to aid in magic tricks. So is this it or were thay just pre suffling the decks for me.

It's the same stack David Blaine uses on his decks. It's called the Tamariz Mnemonica stack, but it's been chaged to have the AoS on the front of the deck. Juan Tamariz wrote a book called "Mnemonicosis" that explains it. You could use http://www.stackview.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to help memorize it

Here is the info from ellusionist on it
http://forums.ellusionist.com/showthrea ... an-Tamariz" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I even found a youtube video designed to help you memorize the stack (ha ha)

It's a great deck, I have mine, You're right it does feel plastic-y. I don't love how they handle, but I love all of the extra's it's certainly a magician's deck above anything else.

Box reveal
2 joker reveals
marking system
deck stack
one way back design

JP still has them: http://jpplayingcards.co.uk/legends-pla ... me=Legends" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The stack in the deck is one faro shuffle away from the regular Tamariz stack.

From the "tips" on http://lawrencesullivan.com/l1/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

1. One way to amaze is found on the tip of a wing

There is a one way back design at the top of the cards near the edge of the Dragon's wing. It looks like a half crescent, turn the card over and you'll see it's on one side, but not the other.

There is also a one way FACE design. Look at the pips in the corners, each card has a thick/bold pip and a thin pip. If you put your deck in order, of all bolds facing the same way, it would be undetectable.

2. Riffle to stoke the flames of fire

If you riffle the deck, you'll notice that the flames on the back of the 4 dragons "wave" - this is the marking system.

3. In the heart of a blind man, the eight is king

There is an 8D that is embossed on the back of the tuck box (there is also a 3H reveal on the bottom of the box)

4. Dragons reveal smoke and rubies

The reveal Joker not only shows a 2C in his claw, but the smoke drifting out from his nose says the word "ruby"

5. Pearl is to dragon as Koi is to waterfall

Yea... no clue

6. Hearts are found split in the embers

This is another tip to the marking system - or rather the code you need to use. If you're looking for the suits, look to those flames. Grab one card from each suit and flip em over and study the differences. The "suits" are determined by the "thickness" of the white lines. The diamonds, all 4 flames are bold, Clubs the two bottom flames are bold, Spades the two top flames are bold and the hearts alternate, bold, thin, bold thin. (it's super hard to differentiate)

7. What language do computers understand?

This is the numerical reveal to the marking system. Still looking at the flames the "language" to read the flames is computer binary. Put your cards A - K and study the flame pattern again. Look where the flames reach up and touch the border. The "1" is where the flame touches the border and the "zero" is where it doesn't touch.

A 0001
2 0010
3 0011
4 0100
5 0101
6 0110
7 0111
8 1000
9 1001
10 1010
J 1011
Q 1100
K 1101

8. An Lámh Fhoisteanach Abú

This is the Sullivan family motto in Gaelic, "The Steady Hand to Victory."
Received mine today. (And the queens do look like dudes.....)
Not the QD! She's a hottie

Oh and the tuck box flap is laminated so it can take a beating.

AMBIGRAM: And the flap says "Lawrence" on the top and then turn it upside down and it says "Sullivan"

852: The Cards say "852" instead of 808 because 852 is the area code of Hong Kong where Lawrence Sullivan lives.

* And NO, I did not discover these clues, so I can not take credit for any of this information

Evan great review - but ALL of the cards have a thick and thin pip. It's a one way face design. See my explanation right above.

I only have the green deck, I wish I had all 3 like you.

don't - this deck has so much crap built into it, it's easy to miss. I think there is still 2 more things I forgot.

It's for the value. Just went through some - I can read/translate it easily at arm's length. Four flame tips. Going down to up the values are 1, 2, 4, 8. If the flame touches the border then add that value. If you riffle the cards you can see the tips going up and down.
i think this is way easier to remember.

the one way back design is very good placed - you can spot it from a spread very easily if you know where to look for of course.

For what it's worth, if you don't have these already do yourself a favor and pick some up. I got a mixed brick at a really good price about 6 months ago. I am still using the first deck I opened. I've burned out several random decks in the meantime but the Legends are indestructible. These are without a doubt my favorite daily use cards. I take them out of my Porper clip and I may have well just removed the cello from the pack. OK, i'm done gushing. Carry on.

Conjuring Arts' new "Exquisite" cards will be available on Thanksgiving Day.

I suggest that anyone that wants them place their order before they eat turkey.

From their website:
Luxurious, elegant, with a dapper side loading box. These cards are simply exquisite.

Available Tryptophan Thursday.

A question for the legends 1st edition deck

So the other day I just got legends 1st edition playing cards all three: blue, red and green. I was super excited about it and I love them they feel great, the look great. way better than my bicycles dragon backs that I've been looking at for a while now.

My question is that there is one of those scan-able qr codes so I scanned it with my phone. I remembered hearing something about this deck having secrets but the code took me to a page that no longer exists.

If someone knows any of those secrets I would appreciate if you would share them with me. I feel entitled since I finally own this deck now, but I also understand that "there secrets" so maybe a pm would be better.

I have these and had these notes about them:

Box reveal
2 joker reveals
marking system
deck stack
one way back design

I don't remember the marking system and deck stack so perhaps someone else can flesh that out more? You can usually find how the back is one way by looking carefully.
