But even with a limit on the two deck tier the one deck tier must be 100 as stated in the KS and with the two deck tier even present that number for the one deck tier would have to be sub-100. These numbers are way off.

Okay, I fixed it. Because I don't know how many want one or two decks, I'll be watching the numbers and when (and if) 100 decks are reached I'll mark all rewards as sold out.

It shows no limit on both now...?

Why not just set limits on both, so it equals the 100 decks???

Seems like the easier, more sure-fire way. Especially when you get "that guy" that sneaks in before he can close it and has to be told he won't be receiving product.

Yes, I think this is the only way to control it without determining how many single or double decks will be available. If I see that the number is close to 100 decks and say, I got to leave or go for sleep, then I'll set a limit to the tiers so they won't exceed 100. 8-)

But sometimes seeing that something is limited pushes people to pledge faster. If someone looks quickly and sees no limit he will think why would I pay $100 for an unlimited deck (assuming the guy doesnt read the description) You should put limit 60 on the 1 deck and 20 on the double. If the 60 sell out quick you can always adjust

That's true... My mistake is that I think people read everything while they don't...

EDIT: based on the 1deck / 2deck backers ratio, I set a limit. You're right Badpete. And you're not that bad after all!

Hi,

Also.... Any chance to get this deck signed by Maestro himself?

And I'm talking about Lotreck.

Not you, Mike.

Well, no problem for me if you want it signed but it may ruin the tuck case design...

A little bit late, but would you be able to produce something like a tuck case jacket? Kind of what Uusi did with their Hotcakes deck. That way, we can sign the tuck case jacket, AND keep the tuck case in pristine condition. The signing's not the most important reason though - it's to add more value, and even more old-world value if the tuck case jacket was hand-made.

Well, you can always keep it in a "Pack Jacket" that Bill Kalush (Expert PCC) makes. Those are REALLY good for keeping 'special' decks and vintage/antique decks that have no tuck at all, too.

True enough. And oops, I meant the Vellum Wraps & Modesty Sleeves from Hotcakes... not actual Pack Jackets like EPCC. My mistake!

The Modesty Sleeves accentuate the design of the Hotcakes deck, and the Vellum Wraps are transparent so they're signable AND pleasant to look at. I suppose I could make them myself for the Gold Venexiana though. But if Lotrek ever rethinks Venexiana sleeves & wraps... it's just a suggestion :3

I know the deck is playable but will the gold foil ever fade or chip after awhile?

You know... I never thought about that myself. I would have asked if you could sign the side of the tuck if possible?

And we have the idea of signing the seal or some vellum wraps?

Now I don't know what I want.

Ok, I had a look at the tuck and getting it signed on the side is a very bad idea. If I was God and had Lotrek do my bidding I'd ask him to sign it on the front under the "Gold", and hope he has a pretty signature.

I believe Lotrek's signature looks like this:

Ah - I didn't really look at the KS page. I've fallen out of the habit of checking them after initial pledge (the info here is usually so up to date anyway), or even reading update emails in much detail - som many fill up my inbox every day!

Don't worry I'm sure they'll be availabe on ebay for 3x as much at some point. ;)

You have a choice of 16 Medison decks or one Venexiana Gold.

Bet ya a 100 bucks that you would have gotten one if they were still available, If you had the available funds obviously.

... Never! I didn't pledge because I was sure the price was a mis-print. I just find it funny that many posters say that their hobby has put them in the poorhouse, then they jump on a 100-dollar deck!

I collect cards in part because they are cheap. I often give decks away to get others started on the hobby.

Does no one else see this as a dangerous price threshold that has been crossed ... ?

Sometimes what the deck offers for collectors outweighs its cost. Obviously this one does, as many people have pledged for it. I collect playing cards for their design, so I'd rather have one Venexiana Gold than the 16 Madison decks Norbie mentioned.

The comments about decks sending people to the poor house are made in jest, as it seems people are willing to spend a considerable amount on a hobby they enjoy.

Lol and for the record, gold foil is real gold flattened into really thin sheets... And it's on every single card back. I'm not saying this is a justification for the high price. The deck will sell for as much as people are willing to pay for it.

If I hadn't already gotten one, I would have been tempted to pledge for one. This deck is worth $100 to me. It's not a run of the mill playing card deck. It has gold foil on the back of each card, gold metallic ink on the faces, and there are only 212 available. Of course, to each his/her own.

Expensive and cheap are relative terms. A poorly designed 3 dollar deck, is expensive for me. Venexiana Gold is not just another deck. It has qualities that justify its price. And I'm not talking about the design which is a matter of taste after all. It's the first deck with fully foiled backs, it's an extremely rare edition of 212 decks, it's almost hand made, it's a piece of history in its way and the price includes registered mail shipment.

I start thinking that you guys are ripping me off!
