I get to Indy on business from time to time. Next time I am out there I'm going to knock on his front door and ask for my cards with a printout of my Kickstarter pledge form.

Update:
"Project Update #35: Still Shipping
Sorry for the lack of communication, I have been moving in the past weeks.
Shipping is going slowly but smoothly again. I have a stack of international 2 deck packages ready to go out and a group of people who pledged for uncut sheets. I have been receiving a couple packages back to me due to address issues. If I get a package back I will email the person and confirm the correct address.
Thanks again for your patience and I do apologize for the extremely long wait.

I received my decks back on FEb... but this is total BULLS#IT. This has taken WAYYYY too long.

How can it go from being in the last week of shipping... to 3 months later you're still puttering through the shipping??

It's both hilarious and depressing that he has people defending him in the comments.

Just an FYI most a great many people are still waiting on their cards. Can't believe this project hasn't wrapped up yet.

Russell has got some balls.
Lots of people still don't have their ks stuff.
This is insulting

What decks are you waiting on?
Would you guys shun me if I buy some decks of the website?

Sam, do as you will but remember Rus has screwed a lot of people here. No you wouldn't be shunned but you are rewarding Rus in light of the advantage he took of many members here. Still, maybe making some sales will allow Rus to raise money to ship a few decks to those who are still waiting.

No, but we'll laugh at you if you get scammed.
Why would you risk dealing with a proven thief?

the funny thing is - he offers them now even cheaper then a KS backer could get them at the $7 pledge level.
so basically i get punished again not only by waiting longer on my cards but people who did not pledged a year ago can get them even cheaper!

Cosmic, that cat meme is classic. Probably the best I've seen. I guess I was right, he's is trying to raise funds to ship out some ks decks. We aren't talking about a million bucks. Can't he borrow some money from family or friends to get the ks behind him. That should be the priority, he can use the sale funds to pay them back. It really is crazy for a successful designer to play cat and mouse like this. You know what the problem, attack it and get it behind you.

There is no guarantee this is going to happen or actually make any difference at all, even if it does.
Thanks!

I'm not sure I really buy that explanation. A number of backers (including me) have offered to pay for shipping.

Not sure if I should post this, but I just received the Quicksilver decks after ordering them from the website.
Mike, please don't ban me from this site. =[
Have people that backed the kickstarter received their decks yet?

Well, he did it.
I ordered a couple regular decks (which I had always planned on acquiring) and asked about the Kickstarter Editions I pledged for. He said he'd ship them together... and he did. Every last one. Even included a Revision and a Hornet as a bonus.
Not that any of this excuses the crazy delay or lack of communication.
But I did get what I paid for...eventually.
And, the extra decks made a nice offset to the extra shipping I had to pay for.
Don't know what's going on at The CCC, but
something is working.

I think we're too quick to jump on people, frankly. I expect that everyone will get their decks, and understand that it's frustrating when you see something like this if you haven't gotten your KS reward yet. Maybe they should make a policy there that you're not allowed to take commercial orders until you have fulfilled your KS orders? Just thinking out loud. It's worth a thought.

I sincerely hope that this is a genuine step toward bringing CCC "current" with its outstanding obligations. I'd very much like to see Russell recover from these missteps and return to the community as an excellent designer of playing cards. Trust is a very hard thing to rebuild, but it can be done.
I also agree that this group, like all communities, has members who are quick to disparage. That said, R's lack of response has not helped matters. Still, I hope he makes right and does what he can to come back. This small step forward is more than I was expecting. I hope he follows it up.
(Hmmm. I used the word "hope" a few times here. Not the most ringing endorsement, I suppose...)

The original delivery date was Dec 2012. Which means these will very shortly be a year overdue. After a year, anyone who is *not* jumping on top of Russell and CCC needs to be checked for signs of intelligent life. Heh.
Regarding your other thought - it's probably a good idea. In fact, I've been thinking for a while we need a Kickstarter Bill of Rights. But I can't see any way of actually getting KS to adopt it, so it seems like a dead issue. The only way I see KS changing is if Amazon ever gets pissed enough to threaten to cut them off. Or if viable competition appears.
Needless to say, I'm not holding my breath.

A viable alternative will never appear, simply because of the nature of the business. You are giving money to someone who doesn't have the product to give you when the item is purchased. Most people have no expertise in what they are campaigning for on KS. They are only doing it because they have trolled KS and find the product to be popular and are trying to exploit that fact.
Thanks!

Your jeremiad against KS notwithstanding, in this particular case, Russell had already run two successful projects for cards before this fiasco started, so I don't know what the relevance is of complaining that most people have no expertise in their products. Nor is a pre-order system automatically destined to generate scams. It's the implementation that's at issue, and there's always a possibility for someone to come up with a better implementation.
You're welcome!

I am generally against KS because the playing card campaigns have had such a high rate of failure. Failure is not whether or not you get your item at all, but also how long it takes for you to get it. Some how you think if they can design a deck but can't hand the logistic part, it is OK. well it isn't. Most of the decks on KS are from people that you have no idea who they are and they have little or none of their own money to add to the project in case they need to. Russell is a perfect example of someone who lacks sufficient business expertise to handle these sums of money. Russell's actual cost to have the cards produced using USPCC, with foil on the tuck boxes, printing 5,000 decks, postage, packing supplies and KS/Amazon fees was $6.21 per deck. That price doesn't include the time he spent to design the deck or the time it will take him to pack and ship all the decks. So why run a campaign for so little money? He could go work at a grocery store and make more money per hour. It is just another example in a long line of examples of people who don't realize it takes more then being able to design a deck to have a successful project.
Thanks!
P.S. Perfect example, take a look at the envelope on this page and what do you see? Someone who is spending way more money on postage than he has to and someone who is adding countless hours of packing time by doing things inefficiently. If he knew what he was doing, he could simply print the postage, address label and shipping label, all in one and save about $.80 on the tracking number. Not to mention if he had the postage paid, he could simply call USPS for a pickup and he wouldn't have to go to the post office to drop the packages off.
