This is where the CEO resigns. He later is hired back. I wouldn't want to work for a company he runs or purchase anything from a company he is a part of.

Thanks Strag. I'll take a look when I am home. They do say CEOs tend to have a higher rate of narcissistic traits, which tends to raise red flags for emotionally intelligent people.

Man, that iO9 article. I know it's not a newspaper, and I'm not questioning its claims per se, but I've rarely seen a more biased piece of reporting.

Re: The Groundskeeper by Wyrmwood (Produced by the Gentleman Wake, ill. Dan Greta)
Not that it matters… but the success or failure of this project will have far more serious ramifications for TGW than it will for a multimillion dollar business like Wyrmwood. For me this has been a relentless effort and 1.5 year commitment to produce a deck of cards im extremely proud of—even knowing full well it wasn’t something that would ever be as profitable as a TGW sole campaign. But when I entered this agreement with wyrmwood I hoped to learn from them, grow the exposure of the TGW brand and YouTube channel and hopefully make a partner out of a business that has raised tens upon tens of millions of dollars. The challenges were many, and the distractions were difficult. I know some folks have strong beliefs about what they feel wyrmwood or their employees did or is responsible for. But if you are on the fence, consider that you are supporting the TGW brand much more than you are hurting Wyrmwood’s by withholding your support. Thanks to all regardless for the great feedback and discussion as we near the launch of yet another TGW produced deck.

I believe the lesson of getting into a seemingly attractive business arrangement with multiple benefits that ends up containing a sharp bit of glass or a hand grenade teaches you to be careful with who you trust - but since that is imperfect protection it also teaches you:

Yes I had some hard knocks. But wyrmwood has been very successful within their niche and I’ve enjoyed discussing strategy, perspectives and marketing with their team.kevork wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 9:50 amWhat, if anything, did you learn?TheGentlemanWake wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 7:33 am But when I entered this agreement with wyrmwood I hoped to learn from them

The cards will be overseen by you, right Wake? Then I think by backing the decks, everything SHOULD be fine. The decks are beautiful, and it comes from a designer we might forget him due to him just work on two decks for T11!and gone until now.
It all those wood stuffs that I am worried about. them alone MIGHT caused bit of stumps - like productions and quality check, especially if you are planning to “ship in one go”

There’s no need to worry regarding the wood components to the campaign. Production has never been an issue—it’s always been other hiccups and missteps that I believe have been handled.

Re: The Groundskeeper by Wyrmwood (Produced by the Gentleman Wake, ill. Dan Greta)
As nice as the display box may be, I'm skipping out on the Wyrmwood items. I will be in for one green deck as I'm in love with the artwork on the inner tuck but I am ethically not wanting to expend any further.
Omar, if you end up having uncut tuck sleeves of the red, green, blue sleeves as well as the inner tuck at a reasonable price, let me know. I feel like that would directly support you more than anything else.

No. The pvc cards will be in their own dedicated craft box. Designed to be extra durable to deal with the plastic decks inside. The box will feature some groundkeeper branding but generally much simpler design.

The shipping is reasonable for the USA and what feels very expensive for ROW. Might just be a product of the environment we are in these days.

Im working on getting that ROW number down. But it's not my call ultimately. I'm pitching to use my ROW and EU friendly shipping methods.

Tuck box of the paper cards is awesome. Dunno if I just missed it here in the thread before or you didn't show it in full flesh before. Nice work by Greta.

Gorgeous decks - especially the tuck case artwork.
Kudos for the actual campaign page. Given how much is being communicated, it was really concise, clear, nicely visual and well-written. Makes backing a pleasure rather than a chore.
Small thing - it says ‘Greta’ in the campaign (and this post) but it’s Gretta, right?
ROW shipping looks steep - hope it edges down (and def not up).
I really appreciated being able to get the specific deck of interest to me rather than having it behind a bundle, box or tier-wall. Love that.
The campaign looks to be funding really well - congrats!

OH YEEESSHH, I am MORE interested if there is the unflap box of the inner main box - that’s the killer illustration

Re: The Groundskeeper by Wyrmwood (Produced by the Gentleman Wake, ill. Dan Greta)
As said in the comments, empty cabinet is $1100, with contents it's $2000. Where'd the extra $900 came from? Adding all the contents, coins, chips, it's not $900.
Are they the magnetic chip boxes? Still shouldn't add up to 900.
I'm not in the market for these but just like to point out that though I like TGW's luxury style brand, I won't support luxuries that conjures prices out of thin air.

Re: The Groundskeeper by Wyrmwood (Produced by the Gentleman Wake, ill. Dan Greta)
Since we are in thin air, I’ll take a grasp at it.
I make things in my wood shop, and exactly how much I might charge to make a set of trays would depend on how much time and expense went into it. I imagine if I had a staff and a building to pay rent on it might cost more than it currently costs me.
I know it’s not 900 profit - and I doubt they should bother to make such a thing without profit. How many hours sanding and varnishing, cutting and fitting, making errors and tossing things into the scrap pile at a loss, does it take to make a pile of trays?
And why look for bargains from a luxury brand when there are bargain brands all over the place?

Re: The Groundskeeper by Wyrmwood (Produced by the Gentleman Wake, ill. Dan Greta)
Cherry wood poker tray is $75 a piece on their website.
I understand about all the good profits, and we all know for sure that the individual item prices already have profits in them, right? What I'm asking is why there seems to be extra charge for getting the cabinet with contents?
Okay there are extra coins and an exclusive deck on the background, there will be some additional labor in actually putting in the items and shipping it, lol. But like I said, I'm not in the market. And as everyone already said, it's expensive.

Re: The Groundskeeper by Wyrmwood (Produced by the Gentleman Wake, ill. Dan Greta)
Wyrmwood is well aware of the high price of the cabinet. In fact they have purposely priced the cabinet highly because they want them to be self-limiting. Constructing these cabinets is VERY time consuming and arduous. They were hoping to only make between 10-50. As it stands already 37 have already been pledged for. They will of course honor the commitment of additional cabinets should the number 50 be surpassed but at leas the trade off is that they are being handsomely compensated for their work.

Re: The Groundskeeper by Wyrmwood (Produced by the Gentleman Wake, ill. Dan Greta)
I’m not sure how they calculated the prices. The magnetic rail accessory chip holders are indeed at least $75 each. There are six. That’s $450 alone. Then two sets of chips come in at $150. Now up to $600. The dealer coins are $30. The decks are an additional $99. thats $730 or so. Plus there’s a few addons not yet released being held back as stretch goals that it looks like we will certainly hit. If there is an extra $100 in there I think we can chalk it up to my previous post above and their desire to produce a self-limiting product without having a hard cap on units.Disenchanted_11 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 26, 2023 3:07 am As said in the comments, empty cabinet is $1100, with contents it's $2000. Re: The Groundskeeper by Wyrmwood (Produced by the Gentleman Wake, ill. Dan Greta)
It makes sense if they use the price to self limit the orders. It just picked my attention as it's unconventional — going all-in normally would have discounts to encourage buyers. And that's just not what they're doing.TheGentlemanWake wrote: ↑Wed Jul 26, 2023 5:16 amI’m not sure how they calculated the prices. Re: The Groundskeeper by Wyrmwood (Produced by the Gentleman Wake, ill. Dan Greta)
I’ve been told that the “empty” cabinet (the one starting at $1100) also includes no internal shelving. So that makes up some more cost difference. Between labor and materials.
