Just received two "standard" Overbite decks, and both tucks are different. Does anybody know how many different tucks were created for the standard editions? Are there multiples of the limited and gilded editions, as well? (I subscribe to one of each; just curious if there are other styles out there.)

There are three different tucks and they are sent out at random. Same tucks for the limited and gilded if I recall correctly.

So, 1 type of tuck has 3 editions (std, ltd, gld) and so on...? so 9 decks that includes 3 unique tucks and has std, ltd, gld? hopefully it is not confusing ;)

So you're saying the 3 limited and 3 gilded are all different so there are 9 total tucks?

I am confused as well. I received three unnumbered decks, but I am set to receive 3 standard decks, one limited and one gilded. I was trying to figure out if two are limited and gilded, but unnumbered. I guess these are the three standard decks. I guess I will get my limited and gilded later? Dang, this is confusing.

I remember when Jackson was working on this in previous years, his vision was for a multiple tuck design, but eventually realized it was going to be way too costly/complicated to make. I loved the concept though (monsters inside of monsters for the tuck). I think it was even going to be the limited would have an extra tuck and the gilded another extra tuck (at least that was an idea he was considering).

It's being hinted on the discord that the gilded versions will have some sort of sleeve/special box. No details have bene sharded yet.

I was supposed to receive 4 standard decks and I received that today, 2 of one tuck, 1 each of the others. The limited and gilded decks will follow later.

TLDR: JR is canceling ALL subs in 2024 except Table Players Guilded. He will be focusing on "bigger" releases through Kickstarter and the like, hoping to really refresh his creative juices. And yes, the video is annoying as heck.

Well, on the positive side, I no longer need to struggle with the decision of how long to continue my KW subscription

Enjoy them plenty, but I knew one year would eventually be my last - and those are hard calls.

This works for me. I'd already canceled my table players and vintage subscriptions and was considering doing so also for No. 13. I'd definitely noticed he'd gotten a bit bogged down by the weight of his commitments. And wasn't taking as much time on the individual decks as he once had. I love his work in general so this is a great plan that should result in better decks and from the sounds of it be more fulfilling for him as an artist.

That is their video format, the weekly Wednesday updates follow the same,

intro
(meme)
production update
(meme)
joke
(meme)
get tripped up on words
(meme)
announce what deck is on sale for a week
(meme)
announce anything that is being released
(meme)
sign off

its definitely a tolerance/taste item.

I guess I will watch the video. I did feel that for some reason this year was kind of less interesting, but I was still game for another year at the No. 13 subscription. I still feel that Jackson is one of the most talented artists out there. He can definitely accomplish a wide range of styles. When he wants to crank out artwork, he can do it better than anyone I have seen. I am glad I was able to stay on this subscription program from the beginning to the end.

This seems like a great move so that he can consolidate his creativity and really let his passion shine through. Quality over quantity and he's got the base to support it. I'm eager to see what he comes up with.

there was a q&a on instagram afterwords

6 "tentatively" (word of the stream) kickstarters, some site exclusive sales

return of the king in march hobbit in august

something licensed he was really keen on in January.

would not show any of the decks

no endurance streams, or likely any streams since a lot of the work is on the LOTR decks which he cant show until its approved.

Some info from the video I haven't seen posted yet:

The reason Table Players will continue is that the artwork is already done. Only gilded because apparently that is the most popular one. He looks back on the sub decks and feels they haven't always been fully developed due to the time constraints.

All current subscribers will have early access to KWP website releases throughout next year -- non-subscribers can add this for $50/year

other things I forgot

2 new legal tenders

1. swiss 2. us currency if Jackson designed it.

For the 3 minute videos, I like em fine. For an 11 minute video, it becomes annoying as the aforementioned heck.

Much more from the live IG:

Table Players gilded will have around 400 slots, 1 deck per month, same courts, pips, and indices -- Postage Paid V2, Cowpoke, untitled mystery decks have been printed, early 2024 shipping? -- new Threads decks coming ("low run"), "limited run" t-shirts instead of button downs (ideally each month), aiming for monthly shirts (it looks like they will be screenprinting these in-house) -- there will also be gilded versions in black tucks -- January '24 is a design JR has worn before, it's a truck that says "Kings Wild Auto Body" -- delayed shipping will continue -- expect prints, stickers as well in 2024 -- tarot decks, Robin Hood and Legal Tender were specifically mentioned -- new version of General Admission, maybe in 2025 instead -- ROTK Kickstarter is planned for March 2024 (he said he would like to break $1m), and there is a Hobbit deck in the works (August?), wherein the Queens will be dwarves -- they don't expect to have many leftover Table Players for non-subscribers -- new Legal Tender US deck slated for summer, "as if I was the one that designed the currency" -- also a Swiss deck in the works -- new Maduro with gold foil on front/back, timing unsure -- June Hyde (of Botany, etc.) has three non-TP decks in process -- Odyssey uncut sheets exist, will be released sometime -- Ronin (samurai deck) is about halfway done, release plan unsure -- limited and gilded Overbite decks shipping this week -- October '23 and November '23 TP decks will be shipped together, along with Nov. '23 Vintage Reimagined -- Legacy editions using different woods in the works: hickory, oak, maple? -- new unseen Overbite, silver-gilded Mount Rushmore Tourists, Legacy Rushmore Tourists, more Legacy editions, LOTR puzzles as part of 12 Days of Xmas -- working on new 12-deck acrylic cases, ROTK-specific brick box ("half wood, half leather") -- total of six KS campaigns planned for 2024, he views Kickstarter as a good way to get new customers with decks with wide appeal -- Excelsior III coming soon -- Gladius on the backburner -- the Pi series will be completed but not soon (no Pi decks next year was the vibe I got) -- dealer coins (2") coming next year ("for sure"), would go along with a deck theme -- as for (ceramic) poker chips, they are apparently very expensive, he considered it for ROTK (unlikely) and the upcoming US Legal Tender rework (more likely, but pricey) -- January '24, unknown licensed deck(!) -- KS coming on Black Friday, something people have been asking for -- JR has been getting into jiu-jitsu and wants to start a non-profit brand ("Bloodwright"? "Blood Rite"?) related to that -- possible Crayon KS in August '24 (idea: a box that holds both a deck and KWP-branded crayons, with a coloring book; Legacy editions with melted crayon wax) -- did you know JR has been working on a fantasy novel for ~14 years? -- Wednesday Weekly Update videos might become more of a monthly behind-the-scenes deal -- Mistborn puzzle coming, will be released at Dragonsteel 2023 later this month

$50 for early access? That's a joke right? No other benefit other than just early access?

And as to the video... their editor really needs to tone it down. Unbelievably painful watch. Less is more.
