I hate when I buy a deck then later on I see it for a lower price. :?

My haul for today. The PokerPeeks, 125 Years and Streamlines were all $2 each from a new store in the area called "5 Below" and the 4 Plumas were all $3 each from Walmart.

I just realized you have the voyager decks in this pic

I guess they are out!

Yeah, but I haven't got my Fed 52 or Royal Optik decks yet and they're out too.

Yeah, ever since seeing that photo with the Voyagers, every time I check my mailbox and there's no Voyagers in it, I'm bummed.

And, yeah... no Royal Optix yet, either. <sigh>

The post office messed up my delivery of a previous Kickstarter deck order. I really hope it doesn't happen again. Esp. with Uusi... I ordered an uncut sheet for the first time, and the rainy season has just begun here in the Seattle area. Argh.

I've had this for a while, but for the life of me I can't figure out how old they are. A little help please? According the chart in the Knowledge Base....this deck can be anywhere between...1909 and 2010. Pretty sure I can't read that chart properly.

Yeah.

I just purchased the two Pluma decks from bmpokerworld.com for (IIRC) $5.95 and $7.95 + around $7.00 for shipping, for a total of a little over $21.00.

So yes, I will be bummed if I find them later at Walmart for $3.00 apiece, as someone cited upthread. $6.00 vs. $21.00 - ouch!

What's where I got mine from, Walmart. I'll wait a month before I would buy unless I definitely know they wouldn't be at Walmart.

My two big problems with "waiting for them to show up at Walmart":

1. In my experience, damned few of the new Bikes end up at Walmart. (and when they do, I have never seen them as low as $3.00 - usually around $4.95 or so.)

2. Due to my disability (I am a hemiplegic in a wheelchair), I do not drive, and rely on my wife to drive me anywhere I go. And my asking her to run me over to Walmart so that I can shop for playing cards would go something like this:

Me: Hey hon, could we go to Walmart today?
Her: Why, what do you need?
Me: I was going to see what playing cards they have in stock.
Her: More playing cards!?

...and it would deteriorate from there.

Buying online is something I can do on my own.

The original design was made in 1912 by the American Bank Note Company's playing card division so we can eliminate 1909 for sure. The Russell Playing Card Company bought Bank Note in 1914 and then became a division of the USPCC in 1929, but the Russell company name was used on the aces for some years afterward so that probably eliminates 1930 as well. I have read that Aristocrat was discontinued in the 1980s, and they reprinted the Aristocrat 727 #1 back (there were many Aristocrat 727 backs) which you have, in 2011. So that would leave 1950 or 1970. Do you have a box for them?

Really appreciate the info. I'm afraid that's all I found. The full deck, no tuck. Does that R in the center of the ace stand for Russell?

Funny you mentioned these are bank note related because the back put me in mind of the Federal 52 decks.

Glad to help. :) That was the most used ace after the Willis W. Russell Card Company went bankrupt and left Mr. Russell's hands. Before then his portrait and signature were on the ace of every deck of cards he made. The new owner respectfully called the company Russell Playing Card Co., even as he merged it with the Kalamazoo Paper Box and Card Company.

Yeah they have that precise and dense engraving look that transferred over from the bank note work. American Bank Note is still around today and they made the first paper money ever used in the US. I wonder if any of their engraving work is used in the Federal 52.

Still waiting on more but these are the latest decks. The yellow Limited Edition 1st Run seal does look awkward and people on KS are still waiting for their Core decks.

I don't have a drug, alcohol, clubbing, gambling or hooker addiction so to blow a lil' money on cards is no thing to me. When people like a deck I have, I tell them how to get it because I'm not giving none away.

Should legit form one of those 'wednesday 5pm rehab session' groups where addicts get together and talk about how theyre coping with the obsession haha =p.
I thought that's what this forum was, an addiction support group. Or am I wrong? :)

I probably left some of them :P

To be fair - people here LOVE cards - and because of that they (we) tend to discriminate against lacklustre or lazy design and poor project management.

EDIT: Also, in the spirit of the thread, I finally picked up a Tendril deck today. Now I just need my Decos!

Looking out the window to see if you see a mail truck or checking your mailbox everyday definitely are symptoms of an addict.

Went to a AA baseball game (Stockton Ports if anyone cares) this past weekend and ended up adding to my card collection. Local Indian Casino was there handing out swag, got a pair of decks. Apparently someone wasn't happy with getting the 10 of Diamonds on the blue deck, it's partially torn and corner messed up.
