[SELL]Blaine Variety Box 1 w/White Lion A red, UV & "purple"

Unread post by Mike Ratledge »

* * * Essentially a one week blind or silent auction originally intended for UC members only. * * *

I have one of the original DB 12 deck bricks with the super rare White Lion series A red deck, which by itself I have seen sell for $200+, the WL UV deck, WL "purple" (identifiable only by a dot on the tuck, created whole ink was changed from red to blue), DB Bee casino signed and Bee reversed black/white, all Split Spade Lions (red, blue & "sepia" (which as everyone knows contains a blue backed deck), WL series A blue, etc - The one in the fancy black heavy duty brick box with red sloping lid, certificate of authenticity, a poker size black envelope with eight gaff cards, "Limited Edition Certificate of Authenticity", etc

These have sold for over $300 two years ago, recently $400-$500+ and 5 w looking for $500 (overseas delivery extra) firm, no reason to offer less.

If nobody here wants it, I'll punt it on eBay with a $550 minimum bid. Because it's so darned rare, I will entertain offers here for a week, first. What's it worth to you? (and I am not trying to force the price up. If three people offer $500, first offer will be honored)...

Wow. I would love to own this but my financial situation just won't allow! Just out of curiosity, how much was this brick box sold for originally when it was released. I remember the release was limited and sold out very quick. I can tell you where I was standing when I tried to order, I just can't remember what price it was.

The first 100 units were $100, and the other 150 were $150 I think :)

Ya, $500 is a bit steep.

I do believe this was release last year as well, not two years ago as Mike stated.

Posting it on eBay at $550 I personally can't see it selling for that much, but you never know.

Wish you the best of luck Mike.

The brick last year doesn't have as many rare decks as the one Mike is selling.

If I didn't just spend $80 to get the Red Deck earlier this month I might consider this. :(
I just missing 3 of the 12 decks (Purple/UV/Black Bee).

Me, or "Cardians"? I can't disable Private Message to the administrators even if I wanted to, for obvious reasons.

I have to update the description level of detail, and give specifics on all 12 decks. Further, it includes a poker size black envelope with eight gaff cards and a "Limited Edition" certificate of authenticity for DB merch. Is signed with full name on one end of the brick, which is somewhere around 500# weight, if not double that crush resistance, which is what that number means. Metric? I suppose it's 6000gsm or somewhere way up there, virtually indestructible, but as they say "build a better fool-proof enclosure, and they will build better fools" or something close to that.

While I agree $500 is a bit steep, I have already received five offers, and the highest was $620 before I told people to give me a while to restructure the OP. . Six of these decks I have recently seen sell for $100 to $350 each, so I suppose you could keep half of them and still get double your investment back in a a few days.

Exact date / year released is best guess, but I am fairly certain that the price was $200 or was the one where the price went up as stock was depleted? I might be confusing different bricks. Including the two recently added when Black Lions came out, I believe that there have been five (six?) Anyone who knows specific details, please enlighten us all.

I believe what you are selling is the Limited Edition Variety box which was release on the 20th December 2011.
What you have in the box are as follow :
1) Ultraviolet White Lion Deck
2) blue-backed White Lions printed on UV paper in a Rainbow Box
3) Red Series A White Lions deck
4) Sample Stripper Deck
5) Sample Marked Deck
6) Casino B Cards (Black and White Label)
7) Blue White Lions
8) Blue White Lions
9) Blue decks in Sepia box
10) Blue decks in Sepia box
11) One Blue Split Spades Deck
12) One Red Split Spades Deck
+the Gaff cards which comes in small envelope

Then David Blaine also release a white lion variety box in 2012, and if I remember corectly there is also 1 with split spades variety box (please correct me if I am wrong). The last two is very recent which was release last December on the same day Black Lion series was released.

Yes, originally described as the "Variety Box" and later called "Variety Box 1" when the second one was released. It is the one where the price increased as stock was depleted, as I recall.

Something is not quite right because we've got 13 decks in there, because there are both Black seal and white seal ("inverted") Bee Casino decks. I think the confusion is because to the untrained eye, there are two White Lion blue series A boxes in the brick, but one of them is the UV deck. The first two are confused, maybe? There is a second WL series A red deck marked with a magic marker dot, pretty certain that is the one commonly referred to as the WL series A "purple" deck, but of course I have never opened any of them. Heck, they basically have never seen the light of day.

I have two of the first VB offered by Blaine - including the only one of the series of 250 with a personalized autograph. There's no purple decks in any of them. The purple decks only came with the "Anything is Possible" bottle made for the White Lions Series A red decks - the purples were an added surprise not advertised, in a two-deck box with a pack of reds. The deck with the dot on on it is UV Blue, in a box marked as a "rainbow" deck on the bottom, same box the purples came in. No dot would have meant it was a purple deck.

Obviously right, Don. Like I said, I have recited things from memory of others, and never opened them.

No "purple", one Ultraviolet / "UV500".

Well, I was getting ready to post the link to the auction on eBay, but somebody bought it for the "Buy it Now!" price of $750 less than 15 minutes after I put the pix up, before I could even get the full description posted. (it just said "David Blaine Variety Box 1" - that's it)

Minimum bid $500 for seven days, but it's already packed and ships Tuesday because tomorrow is a federal holiday.
