Black Mint by 52 Kards - Kickstarter Feb 1

Unread post by jerichoholic »

Got an email about this, looks pretty good. USPC printed, custom courts, elegant yet simple backs. Coming to Kickstarter on Feb 1, wouldn't be surprised to see other colors/versions in the future since it says Mint Collection on his website. Also features marked backs.

Glad to finally see some movement on this deck. Sad to see such a bland tuck...

It appears on their site that the tuck isn't as bland - I'm guessing we're just seeing one side in the post above.
On the site it also shows this:

"BEAUTIFULLY PACKAGED
The cards will come packaged in a handsome embossed tuck box with a custom seal."

Do you mean in terms of imperfect registration? I just can't see the one way back?

Technically, all marked decks are one way, since each back is different. You can argue that they look the same upside-down, but in this case, it really doesn't matter.

I think he just means the image on the tuck back is clearly a one way registration with the design not centered left to right. But that doesn't appear to be the case on the card back design they show, assuming that is the final design. Hope they don't try to charge a premium on these like the other Noir products seemed to, I really like the deck, but it is looking like a $10 deck to me, but I'm speculating we will be looking at a $15 release

Here is a video and some more info about this deck.

Looks a very solid deck. I think that I'm going to get one through Kickstarter or at least after the project when they are sold somewhere.

$11 will be the highest I'll pay for. Also don't like opening the tuck from the front.

I was excited until I saw three things:

1. The back isn't to bleed like the box.
2. Only 1 joker.
3. Faces are very plain and uninteresting.

I may get 1 or 2 decks just for the back but excitement has gone out the window.

I don't know why this topic is dead since the launch date

Anyways, the campaign has 3 days left.

~2 Weeks ago the limited edition (without borders) was unlocked:

~2 hours ago the next strech goal of 90.000$ was reached, wich means that the "Raspberry Mint" will be unlocked:

This deck blows my mind. Just when you think everyone's had enough of minimalist decks this one raises over 100K. I personally don't get it but kudos to a great campaign!

Maybe not by theme but it's pretty bare-bones. Not too much in the way of elaborate design. And I'm certainly not discrediting the artwork. I'm just saying it's minimal compared to many other recently funded decks.

Definitely barebones, but minimalist is a specific design style that I don't think this fits with the mostly traditional design on this; Patterened card back, traditional courts. This isn't any less complex than any casino deck, I would say it's more so than many.

Got mine, love the tuck and the back design, not thrilled with the courts in person, a little too boring, and somehow never realized through this whole campaign that the pips have a stylistic shadow on them, every single one, and I really really don't like them.

This deck went from me being confident that it would be my go to work deck to a deck I probably won't pick up again. Might re-purpose the tuck though, really love the tuck, it's one of my favorites.

Interesting. This was a deck that I had low expectations for and wound up being more than pleasantly surprised with. I agree that the Tuck and Back design are great. Also love the internal foil printing on the inside of the tuck. While the courts aren't very custom, I did like the choice of courts that they used (Arrco) and the little Mint touches added to them (the crowns, clothes etc). Maybe I didn't look hard enough at the pips to notice the shadow (I'll have to open 'em again when I get home), but I thought the pips looked decent as well. Also the marking system seemed to be not overly obvious, especially to the untrained eye. Overall I'm very pleased with these decks.

Definitely some typical USPS registration. It's much worse on my Raspberry deck.

I'll have to admit I didn't even notice the shadows at 1st glance, but they're noticeable now. I don't mind them.

Hi, I opened and handled mine today and I have to say the quality can't really keep up with the great design. They don't handle better than a standard bicycle deck. I was expecting it at least to handle like a Bee deck after it was hyped as a high quality deck with premium stock. the traditional cut is nice though ;) what are your thoughts on this?

Here's a video about these cards from 52Kards channel:

In my opinion this looks to be the best minimalist custom deck ever created. That box for example is just great!

these were supposed to be casino thickness? Wow... USPCC is getting really sloppy then.

These are the exact same thickness as my Aladdins and only a hair thicker than my rider backs. My Bee deck is way thicker than these cards.....
