You bet your ass I want people to brag about their super stupid-difficult to find deck they just got, and show it off. I want to see something worth working toward, and I will like it more the more difficult and expensive it is to get.
True but many times it seems impossible to find the decks and it seems people on share about decks well after they have secured them for themselves. Let people know about a deck when you find it, I do. Everyone should have the opportunity to search for decks and they shouldn't be kept a secret by anyone. Sharing is caring, why wait until you've secured one for yourself, let other people have the same opportunity. I think that's all anyone here asks for.
Okay I went through this thread, I feel I want to chime in, sorry if it is not my place, and for bad grammar
but this is me questioning my own motivations.
I believe us collectors want to share rare finds with others, maybe it makes us feel significant in some way.
Maybe we don't want to reveal secrets or sources, because we feel it's some power we have.
I never met a magician who didn't want to show off at times, When I do a card trick, I like to see people go wow.
and I rather not reveal how it's done, is it self serving, probably?
When I show off my collection or rare decks, is that self serving? probably?
I Hope others show too, just because I like to see what other's have.
I was recently asked where could one find Ohio Bee Blue and Red WPT Cards.
I knew of a place that still sells them for less than 5$ a pop.
A. I coulda said, Yea I think i can get them, work out a deal, maybe make a small profit
B. I told them exactly where to look online for them, and that he should buy at-least a brick.
I Chose B. that time. Am I Sucker? I Mean I did all the hard work trying to find them at a affordable price, and this guy He just asked
and boom He just lucked out, and ask someone who already did the hard work and knew of a way.
keeping sources to one's self, or to share. I'm not knocking either standpoint, but I just want to be honest about it.
If and when "I" keep it as a secret, I am being self serving, and selfish just by definition. No way around it.
Maybe I'm thinking "everyone will buy em all up, or maybe it will drive the price up for me later. "It will be harder to sell mine, if someone already
got it him, Or hey I worked hard, you don't deserve it, until you work hard as me. Why should I be the one always researching,
or perhaps the 5yr old in me just wants to brag, and say "I know something you don't." better yet, "I have something you don't"
I guess If I researched really hard to find a awesome honest mechanic who is affordable,
and a co-worker tells me he has having engine problems, I would feel like a-hole Not mentioning the mechanic that I found
or even bigger a-hole, If I tell my co-worker, Yea I know of one- But it took a lot of effort for me to find, So I rather keep it to myself.
I'm also sure the mechanic would appreciate me telling others about him.
