Smart idea. But it begs the question, "What happened?" Did an original print run get screwed up?

When I first saw these before DB posted anything, the tucks were black with foil colors to match the backs. I have to agree that the way they ended up looks better. He's a picky SOB! Remember the "sepia" SS/Lions? Decks printed that way were trashed, but he shipped the tucks made for them with blue backs rather than waste them. There was a similar - nearly opposite deal with the first SS/Tally-Ho!™ decks - blue backs in tucks with black on the reverse. The only way to know what's inside with those decks is what color the seal is (it matches the back color). Black seal, black backs, blue seal, blue backs. To make that work all around, the red backs have red seals.

I've never seen anything official, but I thought red seals on USPCC decks indicated a 1000 unit run? (not in this case, of course) DB has enough clout to have his way even with USPCC, but if you print 25,000-100,000 custom decks every year, you likely would, also.

Notice that even on his latest short video clip of the Black Lions flying out of a sheet fed press, it's not being done on a (roll-fed) WebPress (made in France, as opposed to Heidelberg SpeedMaster models made in Germany).

Seconds? More like Firsts, lol

It's my understanding that there was also an issue with the seals, these feature the same seals from what I can tell as the Microsoft Decks, and apparently he didn't like them. Someone told me that is what caused the big delay but who knows for sure. I'm not sure i'm interested in a tuck swap.

Hey All,

So I know someone that some how acquired some of these decks. AS far as i know only a couple. I was able to do a trade for 1 of the decks and pictures are below.

I asked how he got them and was told a story that I am not sure I believe since I have not heard anything before how to get. I was told they were on sale for a very limited time maybe only an Hour (Not sure what site) and he was able to get a couple of decks.

It's really cool to have a this deck but not sure will David be releasing them? in full? As 1st Ed. 2nd Ed?

Could be. I had VisualPing running to keep track of changes at the store. At some point recently there was a lot of activity, but I never saw them show up. (Have since disabled it, so it could have been more recent.)

Was told by Lou Garbayo back in March they would be coming out very soon. But, as with most things over at Blaine's store, it was not reliable.

(Again, that's Lou Garbayo. If you have any problems with Blaine's Store or any questions whatsoever, contact Lou at: lrg@davidblaine.com or call his cell at (917) 683-2020.)

We are excited to introduce our BLACK LIONS SECONDS, at the LOWEST PRICE of any deck we have ever produced.

Due to a slight misalignment on the King of Diamonds, we are able to offer these to you at a price that can never be matched otherwise.

The deck contains all of the great features and secrets of our latest series BLACK LIONS with the highest quality card stock produced by The UNITED STATES PLAYING CARD COMPANY.

Whether you are a seasoned pro or just getting started in magic, these are the decks for you. In fact, this is the specific deck that David Blaine has been using during the filming of his newest television special. Their premium texture and incredible durability make them perfect for performing or practicing.

I keep going back and forth on these as well. I actually use and enjoy the Black Lions, but I still have an unopened brick of black, so I would be hording even more at this point... But for the price they are an affordable workers deck. I am also holding out for Conjuring Arts Brick release on the 6th. $40 shipped is a great deal.
