Re: Diamond Back Live On KickStarter
Not to be rude, but you should really look at other examples of successful Kickstarter campaigns and see how they layout the project.
Less talk about you and more talk about how the project offers to your audience.
"I'm from ajaxmagic.com where you can see I'm a very established magician."
All I can see is a website from the 80s.
"I believe that thoughts are things and this diamond back playing card deck is one of my greatest thoughts."
Again, you talked about yourself. If this is one of your greatest thoughts..........
Also, no risk and challenges? except for the fact that you are suggesting the project won't fund.

Re: Diamond Back Live On KickStarter
$1000? For how many decks?
Btw, from what i've seen most, if not all, projects that run for 60 days usually end in failure. There isn't even any good reason for such a long project, it just drags on.
Then there is this statement "It could take a while if I don't reach my goal I'll make them by MPC and still send them out."
You do realize that if you don't reach your goal you get no money from Kickstarter unlike Indiegogo and you won't be able to produce anything right?

Re: Diamond Back Live On KickStarter
Lol I was trying to help.
Well since you got a quote for $1000 you are all set?
I'm 100% sure that producing a minimum of 2,500 decks by bicycle, $1000 is not enough.
Also, not sure if you are even able to use the Bicycle logo if you print with MPC. The bicycle legal team would eat you alive.
"more time the better" - That is so untrue Even kickstarter says it, the less time the better your project will be. 30 days is the baseline.

Re: Diamond Back Live On KickStarter
I agree 100%. Hell if a project is in fact good it will fund quickly anyway. If it is a project that needs 60 days to fund, then it probably isn't very good anyway. Like I said before, and i've been following card projects since they started on KS, very few with very long campaigns usually make it and most of them aren't great. And yes if you go with MPC then you won't be able to use the Bicycle logo, they wouldn't touch it.

No 1000 decks I got quoted for. I think it's a pretty good page if I do say so my self. I hope my project isn't bothering your diamond deck is it? Those are very good cards and you are a very good designer.

Re: Diamond Back Live On KickStarter (wap)
I think he means $3250 covers 1000 decks from USPCC. He better hope it doesn't fund, because if he barely funds, he won't have enough for shipping after Kickstarter takes their cut and he'll either be taking a big loss or screw backers by not being able to fund fulfillment. But then again, something tells me that reaching his funding goal is something he probably won't have to worry about...ajaxmagic wrote:I got a quote for a thousand and it covers it.

Re: Diamond Back Live On KickStarter
I've been sitting back...but i really can't anymore.
This project has ZERO chance of succeeding.
The design looks like it took 5 mins to make, he's charging way too much for a simple deck.
The whole ks page is a mess. The video had nothing to do with the project at all, and his broken english is driving me batty.
His goal is way too low, and he's brushing off all the advice like none of us know wht we're talking about.
He has 1 backer... this is dead in the water.
And as far as i know. The min run for a Bicycle branded deck is 2500 decks. I'll message Tiffany tomorrow to confirm. His goal is way too low to print any Bicycle branded decks
To the creator...shut it down, go look at successful projects, and see what they've done to hit their goal.

Re: Diamond Back Live On KickStarter
Is that $3250 CAD or US? If it's CAD, then its another problem.
CPC has done some 1000 deck print runs and it seems others have been doing that on Kickstarter recently.

Re: Diamond Back Live On KickStarter
It takes a lot of thinking and planning. It took four hours to design. I didn't just design the deck out of no where. I don't like different faces because they interfere with you when doing magic. People don't think it's a normal deck. I did twisting with a viper deck and the person watching really didn't care or they thought they were just gimmicked cards. White boarders are and another thing, no doubles or reversals.
The back design doesn't interfere because you say this is a diamond back deck. I'm trying to look like bicycle. Possibly vintage design. The page looks clean. It's 4500 cad

Re: Diamond Back Live On KickStarter (wap)
Ajaxmagic, you talk a lot about that people will back your project because these cards are simple and minimalist. Yes, it's true that many magicians and cardists like simple design in cards. But why would they pay that much for a simple deck when they have have choise between your deck and with about 50 other simple decks, that all have a better design than your deck. Why would anyone back this when they can buy a deck of Rounders, NOC's or Monarchs for almost half a price if they just want a simple deck? Not only does your project look like it's made by an 8 year old, but your design does not offer anything to anyone. No cards collector would want that and no magicians or cardists would need that because they have about 50 better options for a deck to perform with.

In any case, this project is either a bad joke or so far out of touch with reality that it's not really worth wasting any more time discussing.
Design-wise, your card back is actually FAR from the worst we've seen get funded, but you still need a whole HELL of a lot more than that...
So maybe come back when you are ready to get serious and actually listen.

Look, the bottom line is that you've done something I could never do- design a deck of cards. Having said that...
...from what I've read about every other successful playing card campaign, 4 hours is a blink of an eye and might as well have come out of nowhere. You can talk about how "mean" we are here but I would say we just have very high standards for playing cards here.ajaxmagic wrote:It takes a lot of thinking and planning. Why are you wasting your time with this guy. Obviously, he is delusional. He creates confusion while he is lying to you. Don't respond anymore and just let him talk...
ajaxmagic - Your video is less than 2 mins long which is good, but your backs are not the same? It creates confusion on the Kickstarter.

Re: Diamond back
Good thing you have faith, that's all your going to get from this. Honestly there has been like a 15-16 decks that launched so far this year on Kickstarter and only about 3 of them are actually good, with another good one coming up, most of the others being pretty bad imho.
Btw, I think I know why the cost is so low for this to be produced, because he's probably using standard generic faces. All they need to do is print a back. It will probably be the same faces as the Most Awesome Poker Decks In The World.
