My decks made it to Texas the day before yesterday (Saturday). I've been calling it the Viagra deck. The cards are stiff and hard. LOL

Um... if they're still stiff after playing with them for four hours, consult a physician....PrincessTrouble wrote:My decks made it to Texas the day before yesterday (Saturday). I've been calling it the Viagra deck. The cards are stiff and hard. LOL

Don't get me wrong, they are great, but my hands are not strong enough to do much with them, I'm pretty sure I sprained my thumb tryning to pull off a few flourishes... I'm pretty sure these are made out of metal...ccralleo wrote:???

Definitely not made of metal but definitely thick and takes a little bit of work to break them in but I love them.

The Rubusto stock & finish is what was preliminarilly called Damask, and I have a deck of Glassbacks I got from Bill. After a few days of use it breaks in nicely and promises to be the most resilient & long-lasting decks I've ever seen...jerichoholic wrote:Definitely not made of metal but definitely thick and takes a little bit of work to break them in but I love them.

Re: Superior Brand by EPCC
So are you saying that damask and robusto is the same finish?
I felt that robusto is so much stiffer compared to damask.

Re: Superior Brand by EPCC
So are they going to keep releasing these decks in little spurts or are they going to have an actual release?

Re: Superior Brand by EPCC
The finish should have very minimal impact, if any, on how stiff/thick the card is, that is determined by the card stock. The finish is the mixture of surface treatment (linen textured or smooth) and chemicals (plastics and varnish) to affect how the cards glide across each other.52JokesandCounting wrote:So are you saying that damask and robusto is the same finish?
I felt that robusto is so much stiffer compared to damask.
For example, decks made with Aristocrat stock and Bee stock from the USPCC have the same Magic/Air Cushion finish, but the Bee decks will be much stiffer and thicker because of the difference in stock.

I agree but I get the impression that Robusto and Damask has the same stock and finish.sinjin7 wrote:The finish should have very minimal impact, if any, on how stiff/thick the card is, that is determined by the card stock. It is my understanding that they are different. Robusto was originally known as Iron Stock. Damask is a totally new, soft stock.

Re: Superior Brand by EPCC
Got my order in yesterday, regardless if they are the same stock & finish, they are VERY stiff cards, have a nice smooth feel to them and don't have that noxious chemical smell that always remind d me of the dude that got flooded by toxic waste in Robocop.
The back design is very cool, they handle nicely, riffle shuffling produces an authoritative sound and the heavy stock makes them great for card throwing. I need to patch a small slice in my drywall in fact... EPCC has come a long way with their quality IMO, though I do still prefer USPCC.
I bought 2 Ltd edition decks and was shocked to receive double digit serial numbers for both, #'s 58 & 67 / 1000

For those that are interested made a couple of review videos about the Robusto Classic and Robusto Classic Reserve. There's a pretty interesting story behind the design of the tuck boxes. You can find the videos at:

Confirmed by CARC's Classic Back Readers page, Robusto and Damask are different finishes. Damask is soft stock with a nice deep fabric-like embossing pattern.PrincessTrouble wrote:It is my understanding that they are different. Robusto was originally known as Iron Stock. Re: Superior Brand by EPCC
What's confusing though, is that they keep using "stock" and "finish" interchangeably. Those are two very different things.PrincessTrouble wrote:Confirmed by CARC's Classic Back Readers page, Robusto and Damask are different finishes.
