Time to show a bit of work in progress.. I already spammed on FB and Instagram :)

I am trying something different and unconventional. I know the conservative folk will yell at me, but as you know I like to try new ways.
Here is todays work: the king of hearts, before/after. I was not happy with the composition of the one on the left.

Image

The colors are quite ok, but there is time to tweak and do minor and major changes. Just stay tuned, and feel free to comment and yell at me lol
Cheers! :)

This is one I simply can not resist and it's because it's not conventional that I need to have it. Looks great, did I miss the planned release?

I realize that in my old age and decrepitude, I'm going blind, but I'm not seeing the difference between the top and the bottom images. In the previous two cards we saw, the differences were found in the eyes (where the queen was looking, or eyes open vs eyes close). In this card... I'm not seeing the difference. What am I missing?

Love the art, but really love the idea of the cards looking slightly different depending upon which end is up. That strikes me as the defining characteristic of this beautiful deck. :)

If you mean that King of Hearts photo, there is detail on the background. Also the the pierced heart is bleeding. And the details on the kings clothing are changed.

If you mean the Queen of Clubs photo, there is detail on the background and the shades of the colors used are darker.

If you don't mean that photo or the other one, then what photo are you talking about, where is it posted and why haven't I seen it?? :D

I'm referring to the king of hearts, but not the differences between the card on the left and the card on the right. I mean, on the card on the right, the image of the king on top, and the image of the upside down king on the bottom.

Notice when you look at the queens: in one case, the queen on top is looking in one direction, while the queen on the bottom is looking in a different direction. The other queen: on top, eyes open, on bottom, eyes closed. It's brilliant. It's beautiful. It defies all the rules in such a poignant fashion (Lorenzo's specialty is poignancy. Hie Requiem deck... amazing.)

So, yeah. I'm just not seeing what is changing for the KoH, that's all. Either it's there and I'm missing it (very likely), or it's not there... yet.

Thank you to everybody!!! working on this every weekend, I know I am slow -lol-
At the moment I am working on the layout and the balance, the details about the 2 facial expressions will be made as last, when I am done with all courts :) That is the gemini concept indeed.

No release date yet. I have a "plan", which is being ready hopefully when Le Chat Rouge is delivered. Let´s see if I can make it.
I have the sketched aces and jokers, a bunch of sketched courts that will be finalized/remade/discarded
I do not have a back and the tuck.

Thank you for following the development of this deck.
Ah, and tomorrow... I will unveil something not related to Gemini .... SMALL SURPRISE!

I think framed courts look better, when the queen of spades (I think) was displayed in the update.

Hello everybody,
I just want to to share some work in progress, sketches and tests of the courts for Gemini.
I do not know when it will be ready, it´s a lot of work I am taking in the the evening and in the weekends.

here the latest pics, which just one has been "geminized", meaning that the 2 symmetric figures in one court card show small differences among each other.

I am also working on the tuck, but at the moment i am focusing on the faces ;)
cheers!

Loranzo, in your set of photos above, what is the difference and use/source of the first 2 cards? The first one looks perfect, but the second has a much whiter background and REALLY changes the feeling of the card from an ancient one to a modern interpretation. Please tell me you are still going to have the darker aged look for the background like the first image, at least in the standard deck! :? I know some of these are early sketches, but I just need a confirmation. If it's a lighting difference then I would encourage you to go even darker and more aged on the background and overall tone.

Otherwise, looking good! :D

Also, did you mention or decide yet how many deck variations there will be? For the record I get really annoyed when more than 1 or 2 editions come out, but if they sell I can't fault you (I will still just have to be selective).
