Green Monarchs by Theory11

New color, pretty nice I think. I get mad at Madison recolors but can't get with this series, oddly:

Green is a color the Monarchs back has been screaming for in my opinion. This looks really good.

Agree with Fes, this green looks real nice. I'm a fan of the Monarch series, and I'll add a deck or two to my collection. I won't rush out and get them on release but I'll eventually throw some in my cart and pick them up as part of another order.

It looks great but this is now the 5th color of Monarchs, and hopefully the last. This will be their third recolor, 4th I guess if you count Medallions V2, in recent times without anything actually new coming out.

T11 has been able to get a lot of mileage off of the JAQK series, and ironically its not even one of their own designs. The JAQK decks are one of the few series whose re-colors have been well-recieved without re-color fatigue (think of the Artifice decks, for example). I fully expect green and gold in the future. Its also interesting how no one complains about how the JAQK courts are repeating.

I'm far from psychic , its just that T11 is so predictable. I still am expecting green JAQKs in the future.

As for these green Monarchs, I would've preferred a darker green. I'm getting pretty tired of re-colored Monarchs, I guess re-color fatigue has set in for me already with the Monarchs. I'll probably pick up a few just because T11 tuck boxes are so nice.

Funny thing is, if I'd been eligible to buy "elite" decks, I'd qualify for their elite level membership. But since I can't buy these new decks, I'm not buying as many decks as I otherwise would.

Yea, T11 keeps on trucking in the right direction. Lots of fun going on even with the recolor offerings. E's prohibition set caused quite the stir and there was a lot of chatter about that remember? Maybe they'll have something not Madison later this year.

Are you guys expecting it to sell out quickly? Based on what I saw with the new blue JAQK, I think it won't. Maybe I'm wrong.

T11 kept saying their stock is almost gone for Blue JAQK, but it didn't. It's still available in stock for 2 weeks almost. I understand they are trying to create some demand for their deck, but I guess we shouldn't go crazy buying tons of them hoping their prices will sky rocket or they will run out.

What do you guys think?

You should buy decks based upon whether you like the deck, NOT based on whether its really "limited" or not so you can sell them for more money in the future (there are so many better investments to speculate your money with). T11 doesn't disclose their deck runs in order to maintain the artificial "rareness" of their decks. They can always print out more JAQK color variations from the past (grey-blue/black/red) if they want to, and the can always print out more gold/silver/red Monarchs at any time. Oh, and just because a deck is listed as "Sold Out" doesn't necessarily mean T11 is completely out of stock of them, its just that they chose not to make the remainder of their current stock available to the public for the time being.

I suspect the reason the blue JAQKs haven't "sold out" yet is because they over-priced them at $10 per deck so the sales have not been as robust. Don't worry, sooner or later T11 will slap their "sold out" tag on the blue JAQKS when they feel they've manipulated the market to the extent they want. There's plenty of the black Monarchs available, but no red Monarchs (even though there was no indication they would be "limited"), so they are being completely arbitrary with how many decks they make available for sale. My guess is they're going to market the green ones like their red ones and eventually mark them as "sold out" regardless of how many were actually printed. Then I'm sure we'll see plenty of red and green Monarchs used in some promotion (red/green for the Christmas holidays, anyone?) to whip the fanboys up in a lather because now they believe these are actually "rare" and valuable. . .

The "cards as investment" mentality fans the flames of artificial rarity, mediocrity and over saturation.

Particularly on new collectors or ones trying to make an easy buck. The hobby is very fickle, even with heavy hitters like Jackson or UUSI you never know what's going to be a knock out. Yet that doesn't stop people buying by the brickload and then having to sell at a loss when they start drowning in decks. But selling that Red Gatorback or Unbranded Reserve Note really makes up for the mountains of other decks that you have that nobody wants, doesn't it?

Many of the veteran collectors warn newbies to collect what they love, not what they THINK will turn a profit. Sadly not many follow that advice until they're several hundred decks in. If by a stroke of luck some of the decks you have happen to be worth a lot in the future, that's great! But never assume every deck will be a gold mine.

I can't agree more with you guys. My main concern with the green monarchs was if they sell out at T11 quickly. I wasn't planning to get one soon, and I didn't want to end up paying twice the price or more to get one. Therefore, I wanted to know more about T11's approach.

@sinjin7 Although I agree with you, and many of us appreciate your advice, I don't think we should tell people what they should buy and shouldn't buy. People are different and they think differently. Personally, I have never bought more than what I need for my collection and what I really like. I don't buy decks to resell them later for a profit. That doesn't mean what i'm doing is right or wrong. This is what is working for me. Thank you for the explanation on the blue JAQK and the example with the red monarchs.
