Triple vision playing cards - now live on KS
Hi All, wanted to share some designs for a soon to be launched deck we have in the works,
The main inspiration for the theme of this deck started out with classic comic book style illustrations. And as we brain stormed ideas we got into the 3D anaglyphic art that was popular at the time. So we decided to incorporate it into this deck, part of the challenge with the design was to make the art pop when you used 3D glasses but still keep the art clean and easy on the eye when viewed without them so the deck is still useful for games and just nice to look at over all.
More details and images http://bit.ly/triplevision
We are planning to launch the kickstarter in about a month. Currently finalizing the designs, reward levels, add ons. For now our target is mid October.
I'll share some images of the deck, really appreciate any feedback, suggestions and tips. This is going to be our first kickstarter deck - going to be an interesting ride!
We also have a second alternate deck design that is paired with this design. The court cards of the alternate don't use the comic style illustrations but more geometric\abstract than this one, but still with a 3D anaglyphic effect that stands out more. It would be great to get feedback on those as well once we have them ready. Very curious what you guys prefer, we might offer the alternate as a limited edition add on.

Re: Triple vision playing cards - coming soon
Not bad, but i'm not sure i'm interested in blurry decks.

I love the idea! I feel you've really captured the essence of the period specially with the tuck. I always like retro themed designs. .

onewidow - It's ok. I notice you have very large suit index in the indices. It makes up for not having a suit indicator. Your court border is another issue.

re: "blurry decks" - good point! this is important for us too, we have been through a lot of test prints and variations to get the anaglyphic working nicely but not effect the art work to the point you would consider it blurry, its a balance. That is one reason we didn't include it on the indices.

Re: Triple vision playing cards - coming soon
I really like the design and artwork. However I get carsick very easily and just looking at these on the computer for a couple of seconds makes me nauseous. I can't go to 3D movies for the same reason. Even the glasses don't help. Luckily most people are not like me. I think it's a great project and I wish you a lot of luck but it's one I'm personally going have to pass on. If you decide to do a non-3D version however, I'd mostly likely be on board.

Re: Triple vision playing cards - coming soon
Unique decks make life fun - I'm envisioning playing spades with friends with 3-D glasses on. Good looking cards in general - could go with a non-3D clear version and unlock stretch goal of 3D with glasses or vice versa. At any rate, I appreciate the effort to create something out of the ordinary and seeking out early feedback.

Re: Triple vision playing cards - coming soon
Thanks for the comments and feedback. really helps to hear from you guys and helps us make a better deck.
The alternate deck design might be more appealing for some. Probably have some images to share for that in about a week. We are looking at options for embossing \ foiling the tuck and how that might look.
I'll add a few more images below.

I might get burned at the stake for this but: I'm not sure foiling/embossing fits the theme you're going for. What with the whole retro vibe and all.

A playable deck, but a little too simple. You do get a plus for the 3-D effect.

Re: Triple vision playing cards - coming soon
Thanks mucho for the preview - wishing the best for your campaign. Smart to include previous decks as add ons.
Sorry to be USA-centric but I would be as obvious as you can early on that prices are listed in CAD.
Pardon my ignorance but like for example with this campaign:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/re ... =discovery" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
is KS converting the pledge levels tiers to "About $X US" or did the person who set up the campaign type in those approximations?
At any rate, they are helpful.
Shutting up now.

Re: Triple vision playing cards - coming soon
It does seem strange to me that kickstarter doesn't show the rewards levels in the users local currency..
I've added an approximate USD, makes it clear

Putting up some images of the stretch goal deck design to share and get some feedback.
We're a ways out from reaching the stretch goal right now, but still would be great to get feedback so we can plan for future possible changes.
Thanks for all the support so far!

onewidow - I see what you are trying to do. I notice the improvement in the cards. Unfortunately, I like ppl like you who break the rules in playing cards. Expect to fail 3 times before you succeed. Never give up...
