Wait a minute, something doesnt look quite right with that graph.. no updates no big offer, and i just totaled up the pledged items , approximately 2.3k in total without shipping, with a total of 3.2k pledged today with only 12 additional backers, that is $266 dollars each. Hardly believable.

I wonder how much the 12 people of the court cards have pledged?

Haven't some of those faces (especially the Jack of Clubs) been used in another campaign before? Wish I could remember which one it was. I'm not interested in this project, but it sure does look incredibly fishy.

From my understanding, Jonathan has a few wholesale opportunities with this project. Nothing fishy. He even states Ryan Edwards is involved on the project page. I do not see any negative intent here. In addition, I remember seeing Jonathan selling some of his personal collection on Instagram to help with the cost of this project well before it hit Kickstarter.halcyondaze wrote:Haven't some of those faces (especially the Jack of Clubs) been used in another campaign before? First of all, if you had a wholesale opportunity, would you place it on KS where its subjected to 5% + 3% just to boost the numbers ? Paul you have had a KS, would you do this?PaulRuccio wrote:volantangel wrote:Wait a minute, something doesnt look quite right with that graph.. no updates no big offer, and i just totaled up the pledged items , approximately 2.3k in total without shipping, with a total of 3.2k pledged today with only 12 additional backers, that is $266 dollars each. Ryan Edwards being involved with a project is like Jamie Grant involving with the project, great accessory creator but nothing much more than that to me. Im not saying this is a scam, im just calling the numbers as i see it, this has nothing to do with who the project is by. The numbers to me just dont add up.

Now that Stripe processes payments, it's never less than 9% total and usually closer to 10% once you add their 'discount' fee is added to KS' flat 5% fee because they charge more for the under $25 amounts. You minimize reseller / wholesale costs, or you don't make the sale. This doesn't look right, having been flat for 3 days after launch day and suddenly jumping up nearly 150+% in under 24 hours.volantangel wrote:First of all, if you had a wholesale opportunity, would you place it on KS where its subjected to 5% + 3% just to boost the numbers ? Like Kai says "Ryan Edwards being involved" = 'RE Handcrafted clip" sold, just like Jamie = "Anything Is Possible" bottles for backing ("sale"? too many people treat KS like a retail store front these days).
As guilty as I may be of being on the Grotesque joker, I'm really tired of the "friend(ly) faces"...

Re: Red Eyes Playing Cards : First Edition live on KS
I'd prefer not to process a wholesale transaction via Kickstarter. I personally held off resellers until the project was at the very least funded. However, I did have one process via Kickstarter (after the goal was met) and one process via PayPal afterwards. Taking a business approach, it's definitely better to process the transaction with the lowest fees but sometimes getting that committed "order" is worth the higher fee.volantangel wrote:First of all, if you had a wholesale opportunity, would you place it on KS where its subjected to 5% + 3% just to boost the numbers ? I might have misread the Ryan Edwards involvement then. This is what he published: "and constant collaboration with Ryan Edwards, so many long nights were spent to bring you the best deck we could create." When I read that statement, I assumed Ryan was involved beyond the card clips and with the deck itself too. I could be wrong though.
It's always a numbers game. Honestly, if I didn't look at my project as a business venture, I might not have been successful. I think it's valid concerns. I guess creators need to be more transparent on the large funding jumps.
Definitely valid.Mike Ratledge wrote:Now that Stripe processes payments, it's never less than 9% total and usually closer to 10% once you add their 'discount' fee is added to KS' flat 5% fee because they charge more for the under $25 amounts. Yeah, even backers treat Kickstarter as a retail store front. It's morphed into a pre-sale site for playing cards.
I think the friend(ly) faces is partly driven by the "we don't want standard faces, we want custom faces" suggestions. Many people want to keep the standard feel but add the faces of friends or others to be able to say "they're not completely standard."

Though these courts are older and much more standard and polished they remind me of these from a young desigern last year. Scroll down to see all the courts:

Glad that you understand our concern =) Ok so almost a week on, the funding has once again plateau-ed, that just points back to the abnormal activity of that huge spike, i strong urge the creator to find out what happened, its a huge concern if a single person pledged 3k and then the credit card fails, crippling the project.PaulRuccio wrote:I'd prefer not to process a wholesale transaction via Kickstarter.
