Kings of India Playing Cards KS
Looks pretty good. I think some US backers might be turned off by having to pay for shipping and I think it's a bit backwards that they would have the decks sent to Canada and then ship them back to the US. To be printed by the USPC and looking good otherwise.

Re: Kings of India Playing Cards KS
I think the way they are doing shipping will no doubt hurt the project, im not sure how to approach this deck, whether to ship them home to me or to a friend in the US. Either way it makes the decks much more expensive. sigh.

They look good but the similarities to the Misc. Goods Co. Decks is striking.

Re: Kings of India Playing Cards KS
Seriously consider opting for a US fulfillment house to do ship decks out.
Edit: One more question, whats the back design ??? The back of the tuck ?

Agreed these decks look great! I love the theme, and I'm gonna have to say, one of my favorite things is probably the tuck box.
They mentioned that they will be uploading a picture of the back design soon, somebody had also mentioned that on the KS comments.volantangel wrote:Seriously consider opting for a US fulfillment house to do ship decks out.

You're looking to close. These are the guys that started the $100,000 big dogs.Mirror wrote:They look good but the similarities to the Misc. Goods Co. Decks is striking.
This current deck has some major flaws. Why have the indices in the pips when they are not in the courts? That information doesn't make sense doesn't it. Let's go for a ride. Should we call them MGPCC for Misc. Goods Co.? UUPC for Uusi? Maybe, MGPCC is very due for another deck. Maybe, it's a One hit Wonder suicide KoD and all...

Re: Kings of India Playing Cards KS
What is interesting is this:
People are always wanted to put the indices on the top left side of the card. They are missing the color Red or Black and the for the suit. What if the index suit image was elongated like the text on the strip. The text reminds me of court border lines, daggers and etc.

Re: Kings of India Playing Cards KS
Hi everyone, this is the creator of 'Kings of India'
Thanks @jerichoholic for posting this up here. Very good start to the campaign, almost 70% in a week!
Just wanted to mention that we approached Kings of India as a historical project, illustration project and to also be fully functional as a custom deck of cards. I have personally read through many of the design thread comments from others decks to figure out what makes for a strong deck. Our theme and illustration style might not suit everybody's taste, but as far as a deck of cards goes, we've kept the suit indicators large, indices and numbers highly legible & stayed true to the orientation and faces of standard British courts.
Few things that seem to be an issue:
One-way backs: We were working on a design for a 'true' reversible back that may replace our proposed concept. In the works - will post on UC to get feedback.
Court indices too safe: Agreed. The K, Q, & J can definitely move out a bit, at least to align with the court borders.
Back borders: The white border on the back could probably be smaller. USPCC doesn't do an amazing job with their alignment for smaller run projects so I'd like to be safe and only reduce the border slightly for aesthetics.
Shipping: We are a Canadian project, which means we run our KS campaign in Canadian dollars (currently the exchange rate is not in our favor). So when you see $19CAD for a deck of cards with shipping to the US, this really means under $15USD including shipping for this deck once you convert it. We could have just said 'Shipping included to the US' but then the price would go up for backers in Canada too. So I'd say for a deck with a foil tuck and printed inners, this price is quite fair. We are shipping from the USA and always planned to. For Canadian and international backers, we apologize for the shipping costs for a single deck, but we need to cover the true cost for us to get these decks out. If we see a good fulfillment option, we will consider using it.
Will post updates soon - thanks again for all the feedback.

Re: Kings of India Playing Cards KS
Pulled out the indices a bit on the courts to line up with the borders.
Revised the back design to make it appear reversible. Question: should it be 'purely' reversible, or do tiny details that are different not make too much difference for those concerned with the one-way backs? I'm thinking of keeping the dynasty names, written in small foreign script on each banner corner.

I think you'll be fine. It doesn't HAVE to be perfectly symmetrical. That's a lovely back!

Thanks @Eoghann
Any advice on the Jokers? Are they traditionally the same illustration, one in colour and one black?

Re: Kings of India Playing Cards KS
humble raja - @nd look. YOu are like a baby Uusi. Your video is good. It's under 2 mins.
If you can put a boob or a phallic symbol in a deck of cards, you have a winner. I think you need to put "Made from the USPCC" before drawing chest hair.
I still think you can move the indices where your court border is. They will do halfway out the dotted line in their template. Don't be scared. Make them tell you we can't do that.
Your BackOfCard is fine. Nobody can bitch about it now...

I'm really happy with how this project turned out. I loved the update with the small person on the champagne bottle Looking forward to see how the jokers look.

Re: Kings of India Playing Cards KS
I love this deck. But $15 USD is just over the threshold of what I would spend on it.
