Today we launched our new deck... Mighty Super Heroes - Series 1.1 on Kickstarter. It is an ongoing series of custom poker playing cards. Hope you enjoy them.

Similar theme, but I think our cards are very different from Super Suits and whats been out before. Mighty Super Heroes has art on every card. So 54 unique pieces.

Super Suits also was very clever about using the existing suits (club, hearts, diamonds, spades) to evoke the idea of specific well-known comic book characters, without actually relying upon the trademarks of those characters -- or even coming close, really. I notice that a few of your cards don't just evoke the well-known characters, but may actually be borrowing trademarks. Is the Punisher-looking skull actually similar enough to the real Punisher to be considered an infringement? What about the Wonder Woman bodice? Or the Star Lord mask?

I like the idea, but I'm concerned that you may be crossing the line here between homage and infringement. Have you consulted with an IP expert to make sure you're not putting your project at risk? (A few years ago, a very talented designer accidentally crossed the line with his Green Army Men deck, and the result was a debacle whereby the cards were never produced and many of the backers never received refunds. That designer no longer participates in playing card design, as far as I'm aware.)

I just want to know where The Flash is on this deck. I dont see him anywhere and that is upsetting. I like this deck. Im huge in comic books and superheros. so i have pledged but i still feel saddened by the lack of the scarlet speedster.

Yes we did. Enough of our stuff has been designed to accommodate this issue. The art is just generalized enough to make your brain think it is seeing something that you might be used to. Yes… it rides a somewhat fine line, but we are only getting near it and not jumping over it.

We have seen some other campaigns that flat out say it is this character or that character. We are not going to do that. There is just enough art to evoke a sense of something. So I think we are fine in that respect.

MRHickey - I can honestly say that the Flash is not in our deck. But, keep an eye on future updates as we will be showing new cards. You just might see something there that you are looking for

All we can do is hope for the best. That is all anyone can ask for. Either people will like the cards and pledge or they don't. Not every deck is for everyone. MSH got a positive response from the people we showed it to and also with people in the industry... like Ivan with Kardify and Max with Max's Playing Cards. They seem to like the cards and idea as well.

We have seen plenty new decks that are first timer campaigns that have an even higher funding goal... and they get funded. So we will have our fingers crossed and see what happens.
