Bicycle Cards In Movies
I watched a movie named 5 Card Stud and recognized Bicycle playing cards at opening of movie and also on movie poster.
This is a 1968 Western movie released by Paramount and directed by Henry Hathaway. It is starring Dean Martin, Robert Mitchum and beautiful Katherine Justice.

Re: Bicycle Cards In Movies
Bicycle is a legendary maker of premium playing cards, and an American institution, and it's somehow 'right' that they have permeated down through film culture as the classic "GoTo" deck.
I was watching Sin City : A Dame to Kill For the other night. While not a very good film, and in no means a worthy sequel to the original, I noticed that a deck of Bikes were used. I don't know what deck precisely - the film is shot in "comic book" shades of false colour - but i think that they were Shadow Masters.
It would be interesting (and painstaking) to compile a list of films that use them...

Re: Bicycle Cards In Movies
Here's part of the second poker scene in the movie, IIRC first one had some good shots of the cards when the deal got around to JGL. Can't find that scene however.Levent Suberk wrote:Interesting. Bikes were featured in the movie Smokin' Aces (2006), and I believe D$D did the flourishes.

I have a Smokin' Aces Deck, came with a copy of the movie. They're nothing special, but I do love the flick, and Carnahan is a friend of a friend.

There's standard blue Bicycle Cards in the 2003 movie "Shade", but I couldn't get a screenshot as my DVD drive isn't working.

Monarchs (by Theory11) are featured in a few scenes in the movie "Now You See Me" from a few years ago.
I realize the title of this thread is "Bicycle Card In Movies," but I'm always fascinated by trying to figure out what other brands also appear.

Just saw Black Mass in theaters this past weekend (Johnny Depp playing Whitey Bulger.) There's a scene where they're playing cards and, sure enough, they look like Bicycles to me.

Re: Bicycle Cards In Movies
Not a movie, but a mini-series:
In Netflix's Marvel's Daredevil, episode 6, we first see the reporter (Ben... Urich?) using a pack of red bikes to map out who the players are in the recent events in Hell's Kitchen. Daredevil is represented by the Jack of Hearts, and the shadowy criminal mastermind (who he does not realize yet is Wilson Fisk) is represented by the King of Diamonds. The King of Diamonds is the first subtle reference that the story makes to the idea of "the Kingpin."
These cards are seen again in two subsequent episodes.

The early 80s classic, Gremlins. About a bunch of tiny green monsters that wreak havoc on a small town over Christmas.

I'm still waiting for the modern remake. It's quite overdue IMO. Love the original. I just think they need to remake it.chach wrote:Watching one of the best Christmas movies and can't believe I forgot about this scene.

Now I'm really wishing we had put this guy in the deck, playing with the Gremlins cards, for the ultimate Inception.

You should design a card stand with this guy holding the deck.
