Re: Fuego - KS soon
This doesn't look fire related except the color of the tuck but these cards look cool.

Re: Fuego - KS soon
There are other meanings to fire. Think firing squad and the command given to them. At least that's the explanation I got from the artist.
My one concern right now is what Stacey pointed out. The resemblance is uncanny.

Not the best Spanish I've read.
Translates to: "Possibilities are, there isn't another possibility." Like you get the gist of the idea, but it's...off, somehow.

Fuego - KS soon
It certainly sounds weird. I'm Spanish and tried to get a poetic explanation out of it but still doesn't feel correct.
It can mean something like: if there's an chance, it cannot be other way. Or, if it can happen, it will happen.
Either too poetic to get or plain bad grammar.
Still absolutely love the deck!

Well, in fact Murphy's talks about bad outcome: Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.
This is more neutral, don't you think?

Check out the Wikipedia entry on Murphy's Law: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murphy's_law
In short, the notion is that the original saying may well have been "if it can happen, it will happen," but it has since been rendered as, "if it can go wrong, it will go wrong."
The notion of "if it can happen, it will happen," is a well known concept in science and philosophy, and my favorite turn of phrase to express this is found in the title that Stephen King used for one of his books: "Everything's Eventual." Of course, in the hands of Stephen King, the notion again falls into the interpretation that if it can happen and it's bad, then of course it's inevitable. I'm not quite so pessimistic, and it's interesting that this concept keeps devolving into a pessimistic sentiment.
Words and sayings are fun!
Regarding this deck: I like what I see. I expect that, barring any red flags, I'll be backing it.

Re: Fuego - KS soon
Oh you mean Steve SImpson had nothing to do with this deck... its so close to his work for the Tuzo restaraunt, may be fine though there are clear differences ...Eoghann wrote:

In other news though this deck is one of my favourites I have ever seen, but I obviously like and know about this type of style already. I love the colours, I love crisp design, I love I want I need!!

Re: Fuego! Day of the Dead Playing Cards - Live on KS
I'm glad I was browsing here at the right time to get in on the EBs. It got me to thinking though, was there ever an announcement for Date/time of this release and I just missed it?

Re: Fuego! Day of the Dead Playing Cards - Live on KS
I passed on this deck, being a bit tired of the "Day of the Dead" themed decks...
Then I stopped by here and read everyone's comments...
And now I'm in for a pair!
What did you guys just do to me?

Re: Fuego! Day of the Dead Playing Cards - Live on KS
Being a member of the "can't have too many skulls" club I had to pledge for a pair of these. Willhart is right. There are a lot of DOTD decks out there but this was original enough to warrant a pair.

Love the colors on this one. I just might have to add an uncut before all is said and done!

As much as I like it, and I can taste Kai & Dan on these, but I have to say DotD has just about been flogged at this point, sorry to sound negative.

Re: Fuego! Day of the Dead Playing Cards - Live on KS
Yeah, I remember how surprised I was to like the Dia De Los Muertos decks from Edgy Brothers after Chris Ovdyenko had hit it so far out of the park with Calaveras. And then, I was even more surprised at how absolutely compelling Steve Minty's Muertos decks were. Those three projects were completely different interpretations of the same concept, and I think they are all fantastic.
So, imagine my surprise, now that I see yet a fourth take that grabs me. Again, a *very* different interpretation. But, it's fun. And I like it.
I'm in for an early bird set of four. If he had had an EB set of 6 with the same $10/ea pricing, I'd have gone for that.
