Yes I thought it would be nice to start a fresh thread for this deck. People can always refer to the asylum thread for reference

The artwork isn't bad but I just don't understand why anyone would design this or want this. Just doesn't make sense.

And the "for previous backers only" tier I understand but what is he gonna do if a non previous backer pledges for that level?

First, here's the thread for the original deck (suggest add to OP) - http://unitedcardists.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=83" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Also, isn't he selling the original deck as well with no apparent limits? Perhaps he has thousands still left, but seems weird since the original stated "never to be reprinted". I would have expected all limited tiers that included the original. I also have a hard time seeing how this new one is different than the old. Looks like it's just a tuck swap and a few different cards?

I like the theme and some of the cards are interesting enough, but neither of the tucks really fit. I'll be watching, but have a feeling I'm out because of it.

Thanks for the reply Volant.. I was about to write a similar response. I was under the impression everyone knew that this deck was never printed. I worked with the artist and others for over a year in a basecamp thread on what the next steps would be. I briefly talked with the state attorney general when they were bringing the lawsuit in my state and was supposed to be interviewed by the local news but that never panned out hehe. Ecnate if you need details on the first campaign and what happened after I can always dig through my basecamp notes

Just a quick recap:

- Ed Nash launched Bicycle Asylum and did like a crook with the money, never to be seen or heard from again.

- Roman contacted Milan Colovic, the artist behind the original Asylum deck (Ed Nash was just the producer) and now they're launching this unbranded version, plus a second deck PLUS a third deck exclusive to the Asylum victims it would seem.

I was really excited for this deck when I originally pledged for it (the Ed Nash campaign.) I'm glad, for the artist's sake, that the deck is likely to see daylight after all. I fell burned by Ed Nash, but not by the artist.

That said... the state of custom designed playing cards has undergone a few dramatic leaps forward since this design first hit the scene, and it's now nowhere near as interesting or ground-breaking as it seemed to be at the time.

I may back this new campaign (actually, I probably will), but at long last, this deck no longer seems as radical as it did "back in the day."

PS: I still want my money back from Ed Nash. Did anything happen with the WA Attny General's announced suit? Was I included on the list of WA State backers? Inquiring minds want to know....

Yeah I was thinking the same. Still on the fence about it. I haven't backed a Roman deck since Demon Deck. Any impressions on the NoirArts (NPCC) quality? Don't remember if Demon Deck was done by NPCC but while the tuck was great, the cards were a bit subpar if you ask me.

I'm waiting to see what the quality on the Demon, Chess, and Defunctorum cards will be myself, which should be soon, before I decide if I will stick with this one or not.

I have my Defunctorum decks. The printing and finish are good quality, but the paper is noticeably thinner IMO.

I don't usually post here about my own articles but as far as none does it :D :D and I think in this case it is important due to the nature of the project, I'd like to let you know I have made a deep (and long, sorry) article about Asylum.

Thank you for the excellent article Max. I wasn't a backer myself, but it's good to see the illustrator may finally get something for all that work, and is also acknowledging the previous pledges in the process.
