New "Olympia" upcoming deck
Hey guys! I've been shooting some ideas by volant and he suggested I post my new deck WIP on here. I'd forgotten about the forum to be honest but here is two options that I am currently debating over which to choose. I will continue to post further designs related to the deck once it is at a level I am comfortable with presenting. Thanks!

Re: New untitled upcoming deck
That's a tough one, Steve! I think they are both to good not to use. Maybe one as the standard back, the other aimed at Cardists? The second one has the potential for a really nice effect with fans...

Re: New untitled upcoming deck
I love B, its B all the way for me, the white increases the contrast and give me a focus point. and i do like the sideways helmet more =)

Re: New untitled upcoming deck
Heck, you could even do both! But if I had to chose, I would select option B

I think I like the sideways helmets more, but I prefer the warmer color tones of A. The helmets on B are too white IMO.

The first one with helmets from the second one + appropriate colour adjusting in accordance with the first palette. IMHO.

Re: New untitled upcoming deck
Hey guys, thanks for the feed back. I went overseas for about a week and I forgot my laptop charger so I haven't been able to properly respond.
The word "popped" was thrown around quite a bit so I'm figuring out what would happen if I leveled the playing field. Before I continued, I would love to get your feed back!
My concern is design + originality

I'm with MagicFingerz. I think you went the wrong way in leveling the playing field. You should've used the colors in A and applied them to B, not the other way around.

Re: New untitled upcoming deck
YES - the one on the left looks amazing with the white albeit as a sharp contrast at least imo. but with the use of white in the front-facing helmets, have you thought about changing the top, bottom, left and right leafy-ornamental elements to the gold color to match the other (sorry if that doesn't make sense...)? It's a small detail of preference. I also just noticed that the patterned ring within the wreath ring for the side-helmets have a thicker stroke. Again another preferential choice of detail as it can be left alone to be bolder or reduced in thickness to allow more empty space to emphasize the details
like I previously said maybe make both, having one deck as a stretch goal and add-on like Muertos? Whichever your decision, I want both and look forward to production I also love the subtle integration of all four suits in the design!

Re: New untitled upcoming deck
I get your point, however I want to level the playing field so the color doesn't become a variable in difference as I want to get a sense of how people perceive the design first and foremost.flyers3003 wrote:I'm with MagicFingerz. Re: New untitled upcoming deck
I think A's positioning is better for a great looking fan but it would be accentuated by using the helmet on B. It's just my opinion tho haha sorry for hacking it a bit. But yeah something like this I guess and with that clover leaf thingy in the middle of B

Re: New untitled upcoming deck
That is certainly another approach I was considering, though not much helmet tilting

I have to agree with this.Yashi wrote:The back with the front-facing helmet looks rather feminine now that it's white.
It's interesting to see the last designs with more intensive orange colours (like in the very first back).

Re: New untitled upcoming deck
3/4 view might look cool, but I realize it would be a lot more work.
I like how the side helmet's plume follows the circle and agree that the helmet needs to be less tilted. Definitley the best solution so far. This way it reminds me of old Roman coins.

Re: New untitled upcoming deck
More or less this it how it'll look for the back. I will probably run with Mike's suggestion and run both designs

Re: New untitled upcoming deck
Option b is good. Keep it simple. Noticed you have an oversized suit in the indices. You could almost kill the suit indicator in your courts, but that suit would be to small for your pips. An embellish Ace that is not a spade with a perceived border. That is so crazy.

Re: New untitled upcoming deck
Definitely B, but i would say try to tie it in a little more with your back design, your back design is alot warmer than the cool faces, perhaps a two deck set is due =)

Re: New untitled upcoming deck
IMHO:
The ace - option B
The Back - it's always so nice when absolutely all design elements have sense and conformity.

I see from Facebook that the exact time is "Launching tomorrow on Kickstarter @ May 6th 2pm P.S.T !"

What about a deck name to share with us?
BTW - this looks really nice, can't wait to see more and most likely pledge!
