To produce that deck will probably be roughly $4, and shipping it will cost about $12. So my calculator says that's $16.

Now I'm not the keenest business man in the world, but that does not seem like a good business model. He'll make a few bucks here and there on the small US packages but there are fees, taxes, custom artwork charges, etc etc and I'd wager that this will end up in a "negative profit" situation when all is said and done.

uhm, I see 4 possibilities:
1. he lied
2. uspcc gave him a special treatment
3. uspcc is ripping me off
4. at uspcc there is Donald Duck giving random quotations

by the way.
He applies +$5 for domestic shipping, bringing the price for a single deck to $13. Same as the other campaigns.

A base deck (that is, just the cards), with no custom anything is around $2/deck. The custom face art adds nearly $1000 to the deck cost (and since he's doing two decks, you can double that). Even the standard white paper box with embossing or foil will add in excess of $1/deck.

USPCC does not do "favors" for hardly anyone. Even Jackson pays out the nose for his decks, and he's done tens of thousands of decks and even does contract work for USPCC. I find it highly unlikely that Jarek got a deal of $2/deck out the door. I've never gotten even close to that even with orders of nearly 10,000 decks.

Having just done a 2 deck kickstarter with USPCC, I can definitively say that his goal is too low, better hope it goes way over...

Big surprise, this one just had a sudden burst in funding to put it over the goal. Had a few people pledging like $300 each. Must have some big fans or good friends. Jumping from about $12k to $17k overnight is always highly suspicous.

He claims some "troll" put in $5000 last night and now cancelled, lol.

I didn't back this but does anyone know how it's going? His last update is "hidden" but it's titled "CONTRACT SIGNED" and it's dated June 16 - the campaign ended 2 months ago..what took so long?

Here's the update:

Contract Signed
Hellohhh backers! Long time since the last update. I had to re-format the artwork on every single card for both decks as well as create an emboss-Illustrator file for the tuck case. Long story short—the contract has finally been signed and I am now waiting for the USPCC to sign their end of the contract in the next few days. Once that's happened, I'll be sending them the payment to get the cards made and shipped to me. I'll give you all another detailed update once I send over the money to them.

To me, it sounds like the original files sent to USPCC were either Low Res bitmap images or Vector files that were built in an odd software package or built poorly in Illustrator (which could cause Print problems). I've troubleshot and cleaned up a lot of so-called Print-Ready files throughout my non-Playing Card career. You would not believe how messed up and poorly built a lot of files are when submitted to Printers. And that's from professional Designers!

I'm sure USPCC, Expert and Legends all get their share of submitted Print files that they have to deny and make the Designer rebuild them in a higher res or cleaner version.
