My decks are likewise more a "warm red" (that's a pantone "primary color" for screen printing inks) as opposed to a "rubine red." If you compare the deck to other objects in general (esp., say, orange objects), it's obvious that the deck tuck is red. But among the reds, warm red has more of an orange tint. (Think "tomato" red versus "cherry.")

In the case of the decks I received, the cards look less warm than the tuck, but the seal looks even less warm. (In my silk screening days, I'd say that the cards look like the same color as the tuck with maybe a drop of black added to the mixing jar, and the seal has had two drops of black added.) Based upon the pictures being posted and the comments being made, I'd say that whoever was handling color control at USPCC may have been asleep at the proverbial switch.

I'll agree that more rubine in the red would have been a little more attractive, but these decks still really work for me. I will likely be ordering a couple more decks for gifts to friends from my Russian & Soviet Studies days at college.

Natalia finally responded and explained there was a difference, perhaps mine was a bit worse than others or my eyes pick up on it more, but her response was enough and show class. It just could have been so much more impact-full with the proper Russian red on the tuck and card backs and was a let down for me after seeing all the initial images. I trust she'll watch this more closely with the next deck. All good here kids. :D

Overall I am fully satisfied with the cards themselves and love the faces and variety. I hope to see more decks do up the full deck in this way, even if not transformation decks. It's not tradition, but it is more fun. ;)

It would look better in Tokidoki red. As long as they aren't banged up, it's cool.

Nice comparison shot Dan! I don't have mine yet so, I appreciate it. Too bad they're not as red as pictured during the KS.

So Natalia definitely has won me over and I love this deck despite the 'Orange-Gate'. My wife especially likes playing with it and I've picked up some of her others as well since. However, the upcoming Christmas one and especially his original Russian Folk Art deck are my favorites. So, I was very glad to hear Natalia say that she is planning a Russian Folk Art part 2 and Russian Dolls decks next year! Hopefully with the darker reds we all were wanting. :ugdance:
