I like this post because it inadvertently calls out the source deck while trying to belittle this one, a parody.
I think I've already said that in some other thread but to me low effort doesn't equal low quality product or bad product in general. I usually like parodies, too, (especially movie parodies, see the 50 Shades of Nope parody by jacksfilms), but I somehow just don't really find this one funny. Probably because it's just a tad too late, it might have been funnier right after the success of the first fontaine deck.
From what I've heard, comedy is tragedy plus time

I think the timing on this is perfect. One reason, it makes me laugh. Any time something makes me laugh I like it and appreciate the good humor.

On to the back design. This is brilliant if not revolutionary in it's approach! While I may have seen similar card backs before, I can't recall, never done with this touch of brilliance and balance. Look, the M's line up! To me this deck could be the next big thing. Some people may balk, while others may be staggered by the effort put into this. Surely it took three, maybe four seconds to cascade the card back in crimson! Furthering the brilliance of design, the M, takes minimalist and turns it on it's edge as if to say, "mm, yea this will do". Though I do wonder what came first, the name or the font choice. I'm sure we'll never know, it may have all happened at once whilst nomming a turkey sandwich. Just what I've been looking for in an deck of ordinary playing cards! I can see people lining up to pick up copies of this ordinary deck, maybe 10 people will stand in a row with a card in each hand, revealing the "mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" (turkey sandwich) that makes this so delightful.

@mundaine When is this deck of ordinary coming? Several of my friends and I can't wait to get them! lulz
TL:DR It's completely up to you.
We can still be friends.
I actually like playing cards.
We live in interesting times.

So now that it's labeled a parody, it's OK to want the derivative of a lazy design? Guess everything in Kai's thread would've found success if they had been marketed differently. There's no hiding the fact that it's the exact Fontaine's (breathy voice):"minimalist and elegant" design that we typically flush down the toilet when they show up here.

As Pierre said, it's an amusing joke. But I wouldn't want it as an actual deck. Considering all the effort that went into making this parody, I'm pretty sure Dave is just testing the waters and it's not meant as a simple joke.

Guess Tom and I should get working on the Madison Flounders and Flanders we spitballed a while ago.

Good sleuthing! I guess the whois record took some time to generate because it didn't show my name at first after I registered the domain.

Anyway, here's an image that's a bit different from what you've seen with the Fontaine deck, the tuck box mockup...

Not sure yet - will depend on a few things...

For anyone who is interested in seeing this deck actually get printed, please request an invitation at the mundaine.com website so I can get an idea of how many people are out there.

Thanks!

Dave

it's nice to make fun of other decks but considering your track record on fulfilling your last 2 projects, have you worked out all of the issues that caused these hardships? Before I back another deck, it would be nice to be assured that everything is on par. To be fair I did receive all of my decks from your projects but i know others had difficulties

Sorry for the blunt question

Sorry for the blunt question
Since the previous Kickstarters I have ironed out the issues relating to fulfillment. The majority of issues were due to offering too many extra items that I was custom making by hand. Fulfilling simple deck orders is easy and I have all the tools now to get packages shipped out very efficiently. I've been handling orders through the vanda website without problems. Also, the bacon deck and my t-shirt project were both fulfilled with no issues.

That said, I'm also aware of difficulties involved with fulfilling very large quantities of orders and I've talked with a few folks about outsourcing fulfillment if/when necessary.

FWIW, I think this is brilliant parody, but I wouldn't end up buying any decks, because they would be as non-useful to me as the things they are parodying, and they have a certain "inside joke" quality that would make them not particularly worthy of display, if that makes any sense.

Again, love this as parody. Truly. And I do love parody. But this kind of parody doesn't carry over for me the way, say, a Weird Al album does (which functions as enjoyable music in its own right as well as serving as a parody of others'.)

If it came in a campaign with a second deck called "Flamboyant" which was it's total opposite (completely over the top detail, all the colours under the sun etc.), then I'd definitely be in for both!
