Nothing wrong with this deck. Even the Jokers are nice. The video was short, entertaining and fun to watch.

Re: Russian Folk Art Playing Cards - USPCC (live on KS)
I like this deck a lot! The designer ain't bad looking either... My only gripe is the colors. I'm not saying she could have used more than 2 colors and I'm not saying the 2 she picked looks like Christmas. I actually don't know what I'm saying. Maybe I think it would look better with a different color than green? Or keep the green and add 1 more color? I don't know. But either way, great deck over all! The uncut looks sweet.

The creator does look quite nice. That's probably what has you so confused.vasta41 wrote:I like this deck a lot! The designer ain't bad looking either... My only gripe is the colors. Re: Russian Folk Art Playing Cards - USPCC (live on KS)
This deck is very well executed because backs look great, courts are acceptable but most importantly the number cards are the best because they're two way. Number cards with one way design aren't that attractive. Tokidoki is the only deck I have like that but this deck shows how it should be done.
These are Bike branded but I would've want a unbranded version. The pic of the brick she shows, the decks look unbranded but she's only putting out Bikes. If a deck is based off of a country, I think the country alone can/should carry the deck.

"In Soviet Russia, cards play YOU!"
This art is quite true to the subject; the cards are well designed as cards.
I'm in for a couple decks. Might up that later; we'll see. So far, though, I'm liking what I see. When the deck is well designed both regarding its theme and as playing cards in and of themselves, gotta reward that.

Re: Russian Folk Art playing cards - printed by USPCC new KS
EDIT: Merged from another topic.
Sure there's a lack of polish here that we'd expect from say a Jackson Robinson, but it;s fun and a bit kooky. I think the back has let it down - it really just reminds me of several extremely cheap, low quality, chinese-printed decks. (The borders are quite large too ).
Not sure it'll fund - looking at the current rate appears OK, but it can't handle a mid project slump - unless some (possibly large niche) market finds it...

Re: Russian Folk Art Playing Cards - USPCC (live on KS)
I like the backs ... personally ... they look professionally done and they definitely carry over the Russian art feel to them. The remind me of Russian printed fabrics.
If I was a fan of transformation decks, I would be in for this. I love the art and I love the details.

Re: Russian Folk Art Playing Cards - USPCC (live on KS)
Not really sure this qualifies as even semi-transformation, much less a full transformation deck. I do like the design although the colours are a little off for me. I would get a pair butGBAllison wrote:I like the backs ... personally ... they look professionally done and they definitely carry over the Russian art feel to them. 1) They are too expensvie (17ea international shipped)
2) $8K is really not enough for a minimum USPCC order and that tends to make me nervous

Re: Russian Folk Art Playing Cards - USPCC (live on KS)
This funded btw. I was gonna say something about the creator being hott, but a few of you beat me to it.
Seems as though she was able to get people to help her reach that funding goal. Good for her.

It would've been a shame if this deck didn't fund.

Re: Russian Folk Art Playing Cards - USPCC (live on KS)
Apparently the cards are received from USPCC and shipping is starting. In looking at the tuck and background uncut in this photo I'm really glad I jumped in on this one. Not my usual style at all, but I really like these. They do remind me of Emmanuel Jose's work so maybe that is something, lot of variety and every card has fun custom work. We don't have to be all serious all the time with ornate and occult/death, right? All though, that's really where it's at most of the time!

Man now I'm wishing I had backed Sprouts' g/f's project. Is that a custom 1/2 brick box? Looks pretty sweet.

Send her a message. She's probably got extra. Yes, that's a custom half-brick box.chach wrote:Man now I'm wishing I had backed Sprouts' g/f's project. Is that a custom 1/2 brick box? Looks pretty sweet.

Re: Russian Folk Art Playing Cards - USPCC (live on KS)
Got mine today and SUPER disappointed in the tuck. The images on Kickstarter showed a nice red tuck which is what one would expect for a Russian deck, right? The actual tuck was much closer to a shade of orange. The seal that came on it was closer to the red I was expecting and as you can see in the scan the tuck is FAR different. Quality control issue or is it possible they messed up on just a few tucks at the end? Reason being is the photo she showed doesn't seem off. Yes, I understand variances in monitors, photos, images, etc. However, clearly something is off and in the scan you can easily see the difference in seal vs tuck. EDIT - This scan makes it look even MORE orange (click here to see how may scanner made it work if curious), but below is the updated camera photo in sunlight... The in person color is between these two, but definitely more orange than red.

I don't remember mine being that orange. I'll have to double check when I get home. Maybe you got a rare factory defect.

Re: Russian Folk Art Playing Cards - USPCC (live on KS)
Huh... now that you brought it up, I just grabbed my decks and noticed that it leans a bit more to the orange-red spectra (both opened and sealed). Could have sworn it was red earlier, but maybe it was because my room was a bit dark Either way, I'm personally still happy - the cards came out nicely, arrived as estimated, and the color on the cards is consistent with the tuck

Re: Russian Folk Art Playing Cards - USPCC (live on KS)
On KS updates, designs always get proofs and tell if they are satisfied or not. Maybe she didn't care. That would be messed up if the tucks are orange but the backs were red. I should be getting these soon.

Mine is not nearly as orange as the first pic. They are not quite the same red as the seal, but mine look fine to me.

Same here.
But how come your deck looks so orange on the scan here vs on the look what I added thread?

Re: Russian Folk Art Playing Cards - USPCC (live on KS)
Yeah, my main scanner is problematic and my replacement one made it look worse. Kinda weird though since this is the only one it varied so much on. Either way, I probably should have just replaced it with the camera photo instead of continuing to show both and have done that now, but really that's not showing as much orange as reality though either.
Mine are DEFINITELY orange though, possibly with reddish tones and look nothing like the red in the project art or the photos she has been posting. This is why I was asking if you guys feel yours are red and mine is just an anomaly or perhaps she is retouching the photos before she is posting or using special lighting. She apparently is ignoring my message asking if mine is just off or there was simply an error. I would reluctantly accept the fact that this was a mistake if it is owned and steps taken to prevent in future, but I just want to first confirm if they are uniformly messed up.
