Patriot Playing Cards KS

This one needs a LOT of help. Printing by an undisclosed company. Horrible indices, 1 way back, 1 way courts. And only $15 each!

There's actually quite a bit in the artwork and style I like, but not enough to get past the issues mentioned. Probably the biggest problem is no proper tuckbox and unknown printer, yet charging $15. Boo, pass.

Pips in the four corners of the back design and banners on court cards - two of the most common things rookie deck designers do that merely limit the potential of the deck. Tsk tsk.

I pointed out the issues to him and he seems to be interested in rectifying some of them, so we'll see. But still a pass for me.

Is this because they force them to be one way?

For the pips, yes. Also just that it's such a common thing to do. And it's kinda redundant. Pips on the backs of playing cards, I mean, come on  (tried to find a good analogy, but it's late and I'm tired...)

But I can certainly understand how this isn't as evident for someone just starting out.

One thing that needs to be corrected is that useless tiny pip on the left corner. I really like the idea but the pip is too darn tiny and illegible especially after all those filters and fading are applied.

I like the look of this deck the indices and banners seem to follow the theme and i'm all good with that but then again i'm mostly a collector. The back design would be fine if you subtracted the pips in the corners i'll agree it's kind of elementary. The joker is abysmal, looks like an after thought and thrown together. I hope the designer does listen to the advice he's given and rectifies some of the more blatant issues.

I do agree with you on the mediocrity of the pips on the back design but the banner on the aces is pretty okay tho. That being said I wish their artist Marco Aro gave equal time on designing the banners for the court cards as they look pretty much last minute designing. Overall there are a lot of inconsistencies with this deck in terms of design quality.

More suspicious funding. This one went from like 90% to almost 170% overnight, nothing suspicious there right?

These days, yes it certainly is. While theoretically possible I find it doubtful that someone would plop $5000 on a sculpture from an unknown creator that has only backed one project. That's fine-art gallery money...

For me it's the tuck as mentioned all the way. Comes in a hard clear plastic case? Ok well that's coming from MPC then and they didn't bother making a tuck.

To me even one of the blank white MPC tucks would be my preference over the plastic case.

Looks like DeckStarter all over again. 85% funded and someone makes a $5000 pledge? Hmmm....

Crap is crap, bought or not. Why would anyone want a tuckless deck when most of us don't open them?

Again, pitifull Jacksonesque attempt. I don't approve of ripping off even the poor attempt to use someone else's style, no matter how lame.

They had announced in an update that they would add a tuck box when they funded.
They had also changed that terrible joker so I grabbed an early bird to see how this developed.
I probably won't keep it now, though. I can't believe a $5000 pledge is legit.

I don't understand this though. Deckstarter makes sense that they cash it up to get it funded. Especially if it was already preprinted. They NEED it to fund if that the case. Its just an underhanded pre-order. But these projects on kickstarter set their goals. If they have to put in half themselves they are cutting their own throat already on a budget they cant afford to do themselves. Dangerous business practice in any industry really....
