Re: Official Bicycle 808 Club (special decks etc)
Seems legit and appears to be ran by USPCC (or at least a subsidiary). Year long memership and a special deck with free shipping... count me in!
Re: Official Bicycle 808 Club (special decks etc)
It is USPCC, when I was touring the facility a couple months back they let me in on the secret. Some pretty cool stuff is on the way.

Re: Official Bicycle 808 Club (special decks etc)
Will these decks (and future club releases) be exclusive to the 808 club members? Or after the initial sale to club members, then they will be sold to the public?
That is the real question.
That is the real question.

Looks like some of the decks will only be available from club 808 but I guess this remains to be seen. But for $19 a year cheap enough

Yeah, I read through everything they wrote. Some issues I have with this...badpete69 wrote:CBJ

- will they stand true to that
- will wholesellers that are members be able to buy in bulk
- will they work on shipping rates for Canada / International
I'm already bought my membership, but I would love it if I knew the answers to those questions.
Jay
EDIT.. I was just playing with the site.. to ship one brick of cards is $29.99 for shipping to Canada
22.99 shipping for 6 decks
13.99 shipping for 1-4 decks
These are just stupid rates.
Re: USPC's "Bicycle 808 Club" -- Official Thread
Well at the moment shipping to Canada is only $2.99, which is the cheapest I ever paid!

$2.99 for the Member package.vjose32 wrote:Well at the moment shipping to Canada is only $2.99, which is the cheapest I ever paid!
Now.. go back and load 12 decks in your cart... ouch.. even worse.. 1 deck

Plus it isn't $2.99 for shipping to Canada for 1 deck. It is $2.99 + what they have built in for shipping to a US address. So clearly shipping is just as expensive as a deck from someone else.
Thanks!

Re: USPC's "Bicycle 808 Club" -- Official Thread
Are they really going to make one-of-a-kind decks? That means one deck only - no others like it.
They were not able to tell me what happened to their own playing card collection so how are they going to tell me anything new about the playing card industry and traditions?
So many sites out there with so much information for free makes this a hard sell, especially if you have to pay $3 more just for being in Canada.

I think what they are saying is they are making decks exclusively for the collectors club and the only way you can get them through the primary market is to join the collectors club. People might eventually sell them on ebay, but they will not sell them directly or through any of their vendors, such as ourselves.
Thanks!
Re: USPC's "Bicycle 808 Club" -- Official Thread
CBJ,
For me, shipping in the continental United States is:
1 Deck : $4.99
12 Deck : $8.99
24 Deck : $9.99
48 Deck : $12.99
144 Deck : $19.99
I'm thinking they are using standard USPS shipping boxes and packages and the cheapest box USPS has I think is $4.99... could be wrong though... That's about what it cost me to send a single deck to Chicago from Seattle though a few weeks ago...

Yes, I see that BMP, but one-of-a-kind is still wrong and misleading language. "Member's only" is clearer. They could have large numbers of the decks made, making them not rare at all, only limited in their distribution.
Re: USPC's "Bicycle 808 Club" -- Official Thread
Membership cost is only $16.97 (10% off everything at USPCC thru November 29th).
Re: USPC's "Bicycle 808 Club" -- Official Thread
Joined this with the 10% off, and grabbed a couple of decks I can't find locally. Can't wait to see how this goes, Hopefully some neat and interesting things.

Re: USPC's "Bicycle 808 Club" -- Official Thread
They came in today with a very nice letter from Marc Alan Hill, President of the USPCC.
Only 5000 of these were printed. Any left over at the end of the year will be sold to members.
The back makes me want to watch Breakin' 2: The Electric Boogaloo!

>>only 5000 made
>>$19 membership fee per year
>>1 free deck (plus shipping)
>>no discounts on anything
>>USPCC hoping 5,000 people are going to join.
MFW...
Don't get me wrong, I joined. Although, I think it is a terrible mistake to sell these separately. There is no incentive to join now except for reading interviews. Anything else can be obtained on the secondary market.

I hope they have early release windows and discounts on future merchandise. Those are two things they have not mentioned (if they are going to offer them).
I am looking forward to seeing the members only decks, I just hope they limit the decks to 1 per membership to keep out the scalpers and people with creative verbiage with eBay accounts.

I actually think 2 per member would be the best. One to open, one for the collectionRussell wrote:I hope they have early release windows and discounts on future merchandise. Those are two things they have not mentioned (if they are going to offer them).
