Lucent Playing Cards by Sean Whelan

Unread post by SeanWhelan »

Hey Everyone!
I've been working very hard and very excited to launch these soon. I went back to the drawing board and redid the back design as well everything else. Just looking for feedback!

Thank you!

I'm glad you didn't give up on these! I have no feedback but I'm most definitely a backer.

Honestly, I really like the border and the middle, but there is far too much empty or nearly empty space for my taste. I'd call it a good start and ask "now what about the rest?"

I have to agree. The middle is dark and colorful but the rest just seems too close to white space. If you're not careful, the decks could print and all that would be visible would be the center and border, especially in low lit rooms.
Feeding the addiction one deck at a time.

Hey Sean, glad to hear things going well. I like what I see thus far but I agree that perhaps there is a bit too much unused space, and this is coming from a minimalist

It looks essentially to be a monochromatic deck with just differences in intensity. I may be wrong from a technical viewpoint, but that is the way it comes across. If you were able to make some elements a different color, it may help to emphasize the more ethereal elements in the design.

In general, I like the design.

@SeanWhelan - Looks like your missing something. I see you're going with a center element. You have two common options. You could put a element here and have a mirror image on the opposite side.

Or you could embellish your corner elements more and It would show up in your fan.

Or you could do both. You have the room.

Your white ribbon could be a bit thinner. It would show your background detail a bit more...

Good to have you back, Sean!

My main critique of this would be that it's simply too bright, the details get lost because they literally fade away.

Hey Guys,
Thank you for your feedback! The deck is supposed to be bright and faded. Lucent means a pin point of light so I want that feeling with the back design. I also just went through and created the joker! Let me know what you guys think. The second one would have a reveal in the ball itself.

If the mods can just move this to the custom deck drafting board that would be awesome. The back design is still in the works but wanted to show my progress from what it used to be.
