This just launched on Kickstarter, it is from youtube star Jarek. Maybe we can get mismag to bring his deck to KS too, lol.

He seems to allude to USPC, he makes mention of them at the bottom.

I did think of CM Punk before he mentioned it's inspired by him. I like how the cards look but not the backs. Also the goal is $24,000 which is questionable.

I like the colors of the back design but that's pretty much it. I wish him look with his project, but I won't be backing it. The design isn't really for me.

The video was 7 min long and hard to watch. I admit I skipped some. So, we have 2 black Jokers. The suits and text on the back of card even if it's "2-way" is sometimes not a good idea...

The picture where he's throwing the cards in the air (or doing a terrible spring lol) appear to be exactly the Black Scorpion deck and that was a tease. I like the courts- they remind me of E's Infinity a bit. And if the backs were rider, I might back an EB. But no for now..

Why is it questionable? He says he's printing 5000 decks and factored in $4000 for KS fees and what not. Seems like he did the math to me.

Haha to be fair the hearts is kinda his logo for the longest time. But overall this project seems pretty meh, doubt hes gonna make this goal.

There's a lot of single and double decks with a funding goal under $24,000.

I want to support him because his youtube vids are fun, but as it is at the moment I can't do that because I don't feel it's a finished deck. I'd like to point one thing out. If you're designing a deck of cards and running it on KS, please don't use a superior deck in a photo of you. It makes me want to pick up the other deck and ignore yours, although I already have the black scorpion deck still same deal, same feel. Hell I may pick up another one now anyway, just to peal the cello and toss the cards all over the place in a dramatic pose.

I hope he has success. This deck just isn't for me. Here's to hoping the next deck he designs is fully fleshed out.

Let's just say it. This deck is garbage. From every single angle. So he saw what happened with other similar decks like fontains etc, and want to try his luck. He got fans, he is kinda famous soo gl to him.

Step one. Make a name for yourself by teaching other magicians' material without their consent.

Step two. Create a deck that you get funded simply because you've made a name for yourself by ripping other people off.

This mudslinging doesnt reflect well on both sides, but since it appears that zach threw the first punch, i would say hes the one at fault. At least jareks replies were funny. Honestly i didnt think i could look down on zach anymore, thankfully he doesnt work for t11 anymore, otherwise i might have to boycott them a little.

I think that Jarek's joke with the Jobbers was pretty lame and unoriginal. Not that I support what Zach tweeted, but responding to it like that just comes off as being jealous. Zach is obviously a lot more successful with the fountains than Jarek seems to be with his deck... which is good. Of course, Zach had a fanbase before launching the fontaine brand but so has Jarek, so no real difference there. Both decks don't really have lots of effort put into them but with the difference that Zach's works because it looks good (at least I think so, of course this is just a matter of opinion). I couldn't care less about the b*tching that's going on between those two, I'll just continue liking the Fontaines and not liking this deck.

Well that seems rather biased. I was about to write some counter argument as someone who likes neither of their decks nor knows them as much as the internet does but I don't think this is the right place/thread to discuss their squabble and take sides.

Back to the kickstarter. I was reading the comments section and apparently he previously listed custom faces and those custom items (shirts, etc.) as stretch goals. He removed the stretch goals section without any announcement or explanation to why they were listed as stretch goals at the first place which kind of raises a red flag for me. So if there's a fraction of the UC community that is in to these cards then there's my two cents.

I tend to agree about red flags. When I first looked over the page I thought, either this guy has no idea what he's doing or he has some pretty incredible expectations. I ultimately decided he has no idea what he's doing. Lots of red flags on this campaign in my opinion.
