volantangel - You e-mail Brendan or Jackson about it and they fix it for you. It's one of the less great parts about the Tilt platform but they're usually very quick to respond.
My only problem was deciding which pledge level I wanted (read: my wallet could survive).

Re: Hive 2 - Kings Wild Project
I had a moment of almost going bonkers when I realized I could claim more than one slot. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to do just that on KS. I refrained from doing so though, one slot is good for me at the moment. It is day one, just 20 minutes in. Tomorrow, who can say? That brick of minty green Hive is looking pretty tasty.
TL:DR It's completely up to you.

Re: Hive 2 - Kings Wild Project
Ah, I didn't realize you could grab more than one pledge level. That answers my question about how you might get an odd number (say 2 standards and 1 LE for example). I'm good with 2 of each but, I was curious. Sucks that it's more trouble to alter the pledge after the fact, though.
I was very happy with the prices until adding shipping. Even so, they're in line with most current KS prices so, I'm glad they're not outrageous.
The flexible end date makes me a little uncomfortable. I budget by pay period. If I was planning on this to fund on a particular date and it ends early enough to throw it into a different pay period that could screw up my bank account. I seriously doubt that it would be that far off for me but, it's something to keep in mind.
It's also a little disconcerting that when you go to the page there is no indication of what you've pledged. I'm just so used to that on KS!

Re: Hive 2 - Kings Wild Project
True. And at the rate it's going it looks like it'll actually be today (which is nowhere near the February 14th project end date)! Eh, it works out well since I only had a couple of KS projects end during the current pay/budget period. The next pay/budget period, however, is going to be pretty crazy!

Re: Hive 2 - Kings Wild Project
I passed on the first one, but this version is so much better. I really like the courts this time around, much improved. I really wished they would have done embossing on the standard and charged a bit more, I don't think I can justify the LE which is just too much for it (mostly small print run premium I suppose). At least I prefer the standard colors, so that works out. I also appreciate the more reasonable uncut prices, but no room so just good job on that guys!

The Limited Editions are Fully Embossed and foiled with inside printing. The Limited Edition tuck will also possibly have UV gloss coating to create the honeycomb pattern in the background.ecNate wrote:I passed on the first one, but this version is so much better. The courts are nice. I was a little disappointed by the LE courts. The used more pastel colors that make the courts look duller.ecNate wrote:I really like the courts this time around, much improved.

Derp! It's not like it said that anywhere! Yeah, not sure how I missed that. I must have seen the honeycomb difference and somehow confused that. Thanks for the clarification, these suddenly got much better in my mind!!!

Really? I thought the slightly lighter look was a brilliant move. Goes with that wonderful light golden card back. I really appreciated the attention being paid to the LE deck in terms of color choice.Cbkimble wrote: The courts are nice. I was a little disappointed by the LE courts. Jumped in on 2 of each. Good thing I had to wake up early in the morning to send my brother to the airport.
The LE aces are adorable. I wish I could get more for a bit of a better price.

This was the only down side for me. One of the only things I like better about the KS model is the fixed date and your card not being charged until the end. It allows me to budget and save if needed. I understand why Jackson set it up this way. I am sure it's a PITA at the end when peoples cards don't clear but I think they are leaving a lot of money on the table this way. I pledged for 2 of each for $56 because I was at work and hadn't had time to budget. With the KS model I would have very likely bumped up to a brick.
The other thing that bothered me... a lot, was the fact that there was no warning that my card was to be charged or a hold placed right away. A warning or message before final payment is needed. They are going to have a lot of first timers each project that are used to the KS crowd funding model. Luckily I had enough in my account to cover, although I'll be skipping lunch until pay day....

Yeah, this is why I didn't pledge. I really wanted to, but I didn't want them to place a hold on my card right away... My budget for this pay period is tight and l can't have a hold on it. If it didn't charge my card right away, I would have pledged right away. I understand why placing a hold right away might be more efficient, though. It sucks that Guam is considered international, since it's $10 to ship one deck. I don't think it costs that much to ship a single deck to Guam via USPS. I'm not complaining about the cost of shipping in general, since it seems reasonable for both domestic and international. I just think Guam was lumped into the wrong category because I know shipping costs to Guam are the same as domestic rates.

Re: Hive 2 - Kings Wild Project
Sher, Guam totally falls under domestic shipping. As the Crowd Tilt platform is open source and free to all to use we rely on there awesome tech team and back end for shipping matters. There tech support is very responsive and we have already submitted your specific case for help in solving the issue. You may or may not have noticed that anyone that is charged uneccesary shipping cost due to platform glitches like this Brendan is offering his awesome hand drawn doodle cards complimentary. Also if we can't get the issue fixed we would be happy to refund the unneeded international shipping charge. Apologies for the complication.Sher wrote:Yeah, this is why I didn't pledge. Were in the exact same boat. I dropped a bit over $500 for Heretic for this very reason. Had it been done the way KWF does it I would have only been able to pledge around $100. I pulled out all of the stops. I worked over time and did 3 or 4 side jobs on my days off to cover it.Sher wrote:Yeah, this is why I didn't pledge. I'm not complaining. I'm glad I got 2 of each as I really like these decks. Brendan really out did himself. I just think their model needs some tweaking.
Jackson/Brendan, if you read this, first and foremost thanks for offering these. I appreciate all that goes into creating them and bringing them to us. Please look into having a message during the pledge process that warns the backer that a hold/charge will be immediate rather than at the end. It will save backers like Sher and I a lot of grief, not to mention support e-mails.

Re: Hive 2 - Kings Wild Project
Thank you for your input. There are pros and cons with using Crowd Tilt Open over Kickstarter while the way Crowd Tilt Process Credit Cards may throttle or possibly scare off backers from pledging less than what they might pledge on Kickstarter, it however completely and 100% eradicates the percentage of people who on Kickstarter end up having their pledges dropped due to declined credit cards. Sure I would love you pledge more but you would be amazed at the percentage and also funding amount that gets lost due to this problem.nECr0MaNCeD wrote:Were in the exact same boat. Re: Hive 2 - Kings Wild Project
It seems there are both pros and cons. For a project creator, CrowdTilt does come across as a "safer" choice as you know that if you've received $XX.XXX in pledged during the campaign, that is the amount you will get - no risk to end up with way less than expected with the risk of complicating the project fulfillment.
I can agree that with the exact timeline of a KS project (which, and this is directed to all future project creators, should end around the 26th and not before to make my pledging easier ) makes it easier to pledge if you'll have the funds as it ends but don't right away. At the same time I personally like to have the funds "locked" right away as I have a tendency to forget I pledged but have yet to pay and then not take into account the pledge sum in my personal budget.
Glad to see this already at $18k+. I plan to add on for another few decks and uncuts as soon as I know for sure that my January budget can handle it.

Yes, I might be the guy you remember from that thing at that place way back when.

Re: Hive 2 - Kings Wild Project
Fair enough. As someone who has never defaulted a credit/debit card I didn't think there were that many. I would however still add a message that the charge/hold is immediate. It took me by surprise and nearly caused my first ever default/decline. Thanks for your reply.JacksonRobinson wrote:Thank you for your input. Sure I would love you pledge more but you would be amazed at the percentage and also funding amount that gets lost due to this problem.
Also this credit card processing method my project uses is covered under the FAQs.
Thanks again for you input, it is much appreciated.

@Jackson - I don't have a problem with a hold on my credit card, but posting a warning to something that is better for you is probably good. That begs the question though. I've heard 3%-5% are bad credit cards on Kickstarter. Is that close?

Re: Hive 2 - Kings Wild Project
Ok so i pledged for these at the start, they got funded and they charged my card. I decided to unpledge, and hence refunded me fair enough. Between this, because of the exchange rate of the foreign transaction, i lost approx 4usd from a 72usd pledge, thats more than 5% just because they charged me early. I guess thats the last time im even coming close to such a platform.
This isnt brendan's fault, but because of the flawed system.

Re: Hive 2 - Kings Wild Project
...but then that could work the other way too;
If the hold it put on you are actually protected from an unfavourable Xrate change and could get more money back than you pledged!
or
With no hold you could end up paying more when charged than you would have if charged immediately.
I don't think there's a way around it, as neither payment solution can take into account the international money markets.
Or to put it another way - there is no issue; unless there is a currency crash in either the USD or SGD over time on average you'd expect to have lost / gained about the same amount over all your transactions.
