I am digging on that green color. I also really like the center of the back design.
TL:DR It's completely up to you.

Yes it will be nice to see more but the knot in the centre is really crisp.

Agreed. Still would love to get a pair at some point but not at the original asking prices.Yashi wrote:I loved the look on Hive but didn't pick any up because of the price. Hopefully, these would be more affordable.

Re: Hive 2 - Kings Wild Project
If Hive 2 gets ridiculously overpriced like the first Hive, then they won't sell as well just like the first time, and you'll be able to get them liquidated and blown out on sites like Touch of Modern for LESS than what Jackson/Brendan sold them for .

I loved Brendan's style on the first Hive decks and I'll be picking up these as well for sure. Plus, it's green!

The back looks nice, but I'm going to avoid it b/c of its association with KW. The Red TH has shown to us what his business model is (and I've been trying to ditch all of my Jackson stuff since).

Can a circle in the corner be to big? Kind of takes away from the cut border. Inner borders seem a bit thick also...

A yellow, brown or orange color would've been nice.

I'm in, I love Brendans design style overall. I think he has a nice follow up to the Hive deck brewing here, can't wait.

Speaking of which, how come Brendan's decks don't go on Kickstarter, only Jacksons? I just think that's a little odd is all.hikeeba wrote:The back looks nice, but I'm going to avoid it b/c of its association with KW. But I do like the looks of this one even though it will probably be priced like most of his decks.

Re: Hive 2 - Kings Wild Project
Like Sinjin, I picked up my original Hives off of TOM on sale, plus with a discount. Folks were creating accounts and doubling up to get multiple purchases with discounts. I just happened to receive a coupon, and got a pair for $15 delivered.
If these are a decent price, I may get a pair.

Really looking forward to this deck, I've been hoping for a green Hive deck since the first edition was teased.

You got me looking at the center. Is it the angle or is that a "1-way" back? I can't tell.Pixel Initiative wrote:Yes it will be nice to see more but the knot in the centre is really crisp.

@Victor - I don't know. Maybe he doesn't want to give 5% to Kickstarter. You can't deny he knows how to make a deck of cards. And what better way to MAster the cards is to know Jackson. They both like skinny Clubs. I think he believes in Brendan. But it's only a guess they don't talk on here on the UC. [MURRAY] [MURRAY]

When a deck designer/producer can't be bothered to come to UC, I can't be bothered to care much about their products.

Re: Hive 2 - Kings Wild Project
Bit arrogant there and a bit too general no? I wouldn't expect a designer/producer to have to come to UC just to curry favor. Let them if they want to, and it's fine if they don't.sinjin7 wrote:When a deck designer/producer can't be bothered to come to UC, I can't be bothered to care much about their products.
As for Jackson, I don't fault him for not frequenting UC. I mean, he's criticized for pretty much anything he does. Some warranted, some unwarranted. Probably doesn't think he gets a fair shake here. Again, some of it his fault, some not. Just my opinion anyways.
Anywho, I enjoyed the original Hive decks and I will be getting these as well. Really like Brenden's work a lot. I think he would get a broader following on KS though, and hope one of his decks makes it there, though I'm sure he gets some benefits working with Jackson.

Re: Hive 2 - Kings Wild Project
That's a fair opinion, and one that is probably shared in varying degrees by most here at UC.SpecialK wrote:Bit arrogant there and a bit too general no? This is the thread for Hive & KW Project, so while it may have been a general statement, it wasn't about any designers/producers in general, but targeted specifically at Jackson and Brendan. I think the arrogance is entirely on their part, imo. Jackson certainly has put his arrogance on full display in our faces here with his "changes of directions", but that's fine because I now welcome the chirping crickets over anything he has to say. As for Brendan, I didn't appreciate the snide backhanded comments he made on the other site about UC when he was promoting his first Hive deck.
I'm actually a fan of the original Hive decks, just not a fan of the marketing and pricing strategy. Surely they've learnt their lesson and won't price these at $22.00 per deck shipped with artificial rarity like the first Hives. Hopefully they'll make these a larger print run with more realistic pricing (not holding my breath on that). While I don't like this second version as much as the originals, I still may pick them up at a site like ToM at a fraction of the cost only just 2 months after their release when unsold stock gets blown out and liquidated for quick cash like what happened with the first Hives.
When I see people like GW putting out well designed, fully custom decks with blinged out tucks at just $6.00, I find Jackson's $15.00+ Kings Wild decks becoming quickly irrelevant for me.
