Pretty interesting that Gamblers Warehouse would come out with plastic decks on KS. These are printed by Liberty in 4 different colors and in both poker and bridge sizes.

Frankly, these are a bargain for what they are - even if they weren't limited to 50 of each size & color. Basically same or lower price than most decks, and typical plastic decks sell for more. GW owns Liberty, so I think it is a proof of concept type thing.

Any time you can get one of 50 for a reasonable price - assuming you are a true Collector - you'd be crazy not to.

There are 2 color options for either poker or bridge sets. Which makes 4 different variants. And these sets are offered in Regular or Jumbo Index which is another variable. These are limited edition sets with special numbered sleeves & signed by the artist "Charles" the creator of  Bicycle Steampunk Bandits deck. Also this limited edition set comes in US made acrylic boxes with cheaper pricing as compared to similar sets in market.
We will have Regular Guild Poker & Bridge acetate sets soon after this but they will come in plastic box, standard sleeve & higher price.

That's an interesting opinion. Plastic cards are MUCH MUCH better for poker. Paper just wears out way too fast, and is much more vulnerable to creases and marks. AFAIK, most "serious" poker players prefer plastic.

Yes, at the monthly tournament that I used to play, plastic was always the rule. Copags and DaVincis, in particular.

I think anytime you don't have to handle the cards like in Black Jack they should stay with Bee stock. If its a game like Texas Holdem, where players touch the cards it should be Poker size plastic. I heard somewhere they are trying to go to bridge plastic to save a buck. Think about it. Most of time you only look at the corner of the card.... If I get dealt bridge plastic cards I'm going to bitch at the casino.... By the way I'm going to Vegas this Christmas with my sister and her hubby.

Yup as a matter of fact I do. It has to do with visibility. Back in "the day" poker indices were used, primarily because most of the games back then were draw and smaller indices were easier to view whilst not revealing your cards to your neighbor at the same time. Now that most (>90%) of poker games are hold'em, only two cards are needed to view and the larger indices are easier to see, especially on when the flop is put in the middle of the table.

In addition, as poker got popular on TV bridge indices were used as they show up better on camera.

Interestingly the poker "pro peek" that were developed for the WSOP by Bicycle were a giant fiasco. The angled 6s and 9s looked too close together, they were use for less than a day. http://www.pokerlistings.com/new-card-d ... wsop-89441

If I'm playing Omaha I prefer poker indices but in general I now prefer bridge indices, especially as my eyes get older.

Sigh. Sprouts please stick to what you know. It's bridge-size indices, NOT bridge-side cards. There is a big difference. IF you play poker in Vegas you will like be dealt 100% plastic poker-sized bridge-index cards. Other casino games vary from Bicycle to Gemaco with stock of various types. Note that in MANY of these casino games you ARE allowed to "touch the cards".

Yesterday with 17 minutes to go, this project was not going to fund... BUT, because of the kindness of an existing backer with a $500 bump to their pledge, it just squeaked over the line. Why am I not surprised.

The cards feel nice, look fine, and I look forward to playing with them. However the case leaves a lot to be desired.

It basically blew up on me as soon as i pulled the paper sleeve off!

The box looks to be pieces of black plastic or plexi-glass just glued together, and two of the sides obviously did not hold up at all.

Fortunately, these cards went right into my poker chip case for playing with, but still it's pretty disappointing. I would like to keep these around after "retiring" them from the table, and might try to glue the box back together again...

I just really wasn't into these. Try a little gorilla glue. that stuff will keep anything together.
